Sun May 10 2009This salon is in a great loctaion on North Ave, but beware of the parking lot! You will be towed if you leave the lot or if you park along the building for more than 30 minutes. Prices are steep but worth it!

Tue Jan 06 2009I have been going to Michael Anthony Salon for 14 years and I love it. I have been getting my highlites with Kristine and she is the best colorist out of their 4 salons. She is talented and professional. Their prices area little too high, but I think it is worth it. I get my facials, eyebrows & bikini waxes done by Evelyn and she is just fantastic. These two ladies make the difference. I like the Belmont location better than their North Avenue location. The ladies at the North Avenue location are not friendly and the salon itself is very loud. If you are thinking about going to Michael Anthony Salon go to their Belmont location and ask for Kristine and Evelyn - you won't regret it!

Tue Jul 10 2007I went to the MA salon on North Ave for a massage, and I felt it was definitely not worth the prices they are charging. I am a massage therapist myself, and I would hope none of my clients ever leave my massage table feeling the way I did there at MA. The salon itself is lovely, but the staff are rather unprofessional... the employees I dealt with came off like clueless high school girls in my opinion, and throughout my massage I kept hearing loud voices talking and laughing outside the room, and my therapist was extremely rushed. She was pleasant and polite, but she rushed through my massage and scrubbed at me rather than massaged me. She did not even massage my chest, shoulders or face which was disappointing. I would not recommend them for a massage.

Mon May 14 2007I never write reviews but I had to after my second experience at Aveda's Michael Anthonys. The first time was at the Sheffield location & I received a facial and a pedicure (read sheffield's review) it was ok. My friend had to convinced me to try the Belmont location where she goes and all I have to say is WOW! Are they owned by the same company? I had a 75 minute facial, a massage and pedicure. My facial was by far the most relaxing and the girls hands were very soothing, she put me right to sleep, she has great healing hands and my skin felt so clean and it glowed. The massage was excellent, they incorporate hot towels with their massages and facials and I felt as if I were sleping on a cloud. The pedicure was by far one of the best. The girl wasn't chatty and I like that. I went on a monday afternoon and parking was easy to find. I can't believe that I almost wrote Aveda off because of my last experience, I would of missed out on of the best days that I have had in a long time. Bad... Read more

Mon Jan 08 2007Trying to find just the right place to have your hair done is a bit daunting in a city the size of Chicago. Having the same hairdresser in my home state for 12 years was a luxury, and it's been a challenge finding the right salon home here. This salon got high points for an early morning appointment on a Thursday, and even higher points for the SUPER highlights from Paige. The location is great in regard to antiquing on Belmont and a convenient route on the CTA. However, there was a bit of a communication gap with the receptionist when booking the appointment, and (I found) some of the other staff members to be a bit snobbish. Given the price of a 1/2 head of highlights here, I would certainly not book for a full head. Liz, the stylist who gave me the blowdry was personable and funny, but my hair frizzed as soon as I walked outside. Receptionist did the hard sell for products and services at check out which is a huge turn off for me. If you like the cookie cutter Toni & Guy / Aveda cul... Read more

Mon Nov 06 2006It is rare for someone to write a review when they have good experiences, people tend to spread the negative, so I am here to let everyone know that this place is really wonderful! I get all of my services here and I have tried quite a few of their people, some are better than others, so here is my list for my favorites beauty stylists and the services you should try. I get my haircut by Katy, so far the best I have received. For my highlights I use to go to John, but he is no longer there, so I tried Paige since she came highly recommended by the other girls. She was very kind and my highlights looked perfect. She doesn't talk as much as John did, but my highlights looked Excellent! I will be going back to her. Waxing-I have been to a few, and even though they all do a good job these ladies do it the best, Eyebrows, Vivian is by far the best, I will only let her do them from now on. I keep getting compliments on my eyebrows everytime she does them! For my Bikini waxing Evelyn, she is... Read more

Tue Oct 24 2006The Scene Located on busy Belmont, the sweet-smelling salon is a welcome retreat. The spacious lobby and salon area boasts an impressive retail selection: Shelves are stacked with Aveda's plant-derived hair and bath products, cosmetics, perfumes and candles. Gracious staffers lead clients to the small but immaculate spa area where a locker and robe await. While there's no separate quiet room, you may lounge briefly in the hushed waiting lounge before or after your treatment. The Services Skilled therapists perform a long list of spa treatments with products meant to nourish the skin or quiet the mind. The hour-long Aveda signature massage relieves stressed muscles with long fluid motions and calms the senses with essential oils, or skin-care products suited to your preferences or skin type. For ultra-soft skin, book an exfoliating body polish before your massage and leave feeling buffed and smelling delicious.

Thu May 18 2006Staff was very friendly, my hair cut by Claudia was great, relaxing atmosphere. I can't wait to try the spa services! Claudia told me what products she used, but there was no pressure to buy anything. She even gave me some lip gloss to put on afterwards, again no pressure to buy it.

Thu May 04 2006I went to the North Ave. location and had a hot stone massage. It was an absolute nightmare. I was burned by one of stones on the middle of my back. It turned into a bubble blister bigger than a quarter. I currently have a huge scar on my back that will be there for the rest of my life. When I went back to the salon the next day to show them what they had done, they did not give me my money back, only store credit. (as if I wanted to use there services again) They barely acknowledged it. I was given no instruction during the massage, I trusted that they knew what they were doing and what the temperature of the stones should be.

Wed Mar 22 2006I have been a customer for the past 10 years. Everyone I care about ,I take there for either a massage or makeover, etc.. I know that they will get the very best pampering possible. Also, they are so experienced, I don't have to worry about how things will turn out. If I knew Mr. Michael Anthony, I would given him the tightest hug ever for the piece of heaven he gives his customers.

Sun Mar 06 2005I received a spa day package for the Belmont salon as a gift from my boyfriend and all I can say is that it was the best experience ever. From the moment I walked in until the time I left, everyone who take care of me was courteous and professional. I had one of the best facials ever, my skin glowed for days and the massage, mani/pedi, blowdry and makeup application were wonderful. I highly recommend this place for special occassions. I can't afford to come here on a regular basis but I will be asking for more gift certificates as gifts.
