Tue Jun 02 2009Would this have been the 80's edition of the Full Cleveland? Thankfully the recent blitz of 80's nostalgia seems to have missed this particular recess in the history of good taste.

Mon Dec 22 2008Well, Mike Vice, it's good to see someone else out there has the taste and clarity to know an awesome look, and the fortitude to go for it, no matter what the label-shirt and distressed jeans wearing pikers think. I made "Sonny" my own style almost two years ago, and doing so has taken my life to a whole new level. I always LOVED the 80s and DESPISED everything the contemporary had to offer. For a while I tried to play it straight with normal, non-descript clothes; but that conveyed neither my love for then or loathing for now. So I eventually just took the plunge. It took me a while to find the right attitude and presentation at first; there was a but of experimentation. But after paying close attention to a few episodes (you're right, seasons 1&2 were the best) and countless trips to thrift stores and ebay searches, I found a few choice ensembles that really make my presence known. Among my favorites are the blazers: 2 white silk, 1 salmon silk, 1 turquoise cotton, 2 black and white ... Read more

Sat Nov 29 2008For me, Don Johnson as he looked during the first two seasons of the hit 1980's TV cop show Miami Vice is Metrosexual, Sensitive New Age Guy, call it what you like; he's the much needed alternative to the old-fashioned macho muscleman who has a body that is a grotesquely mishapen phantasmagoria of chunky, steroid-plumped, veiny and lumpy overblown fleshiness. But enough of THAT. Back to Don Johnson as he appeared in the first two seasons of Miami Vice which aired in 1984 to 1986. First thing you think when you look at Don is: WONDERFUL FASHIONS!!!! Forget the terrific pulsating pop and rock music, forget the cool, slick and excessively handsome (my one-and-only lifetime hero and idol) Don Johnson's too-quickly-over 1985 sex-symbol status, forget the flashy MTVideographic camera work--the ONLY reason I REALLY tuned into the show in the 1980's was because of Don Johnson's tropical-chic, casually elegant designer menswear ensembles--unconstructed sportjackets thrown over t-shirts and mult... Fri Dec 07 2007Everything was ok except for the shoes without the socks. It really can create a stinkin' situation. :-)

Thu Dec 06 2007Cheers to you Mike Vice! I miss the Vice look styles myself.Wearing it hada great feel to it all . I never will forget my one favorite Vice Jacket. It was a pastel yellow with tiny pink triangles all over it.It was unique and got me laid by the cutest gals!! It had a magical rock star feel to it.I once made the fatal mistake of taking it off and leaving it on my chair and went up to the piano man drunk and singing like the fool i was (Glen Livit Scotch does that)to only look back and it was gone! forever. I never could find that coat nor replace it. I pray that society one day is wearing flamboyant loose fitting fashions like never before !The look today is so drab and disgusting .The 80's were so much fun.Sorry if you are one who cannot connect to this frequency of fashion elation and joy.I'm dying ova here, for several years now i stay in the miami vice clothes closet but who knows for how much longer.

Fri Mar 09 2007I always thought that this was merely an updated 1980's Full Cleveland fashion from the 1970's. The Full Cleveland was shirt, coat, white tie, white belt and white shoes. The Half Cleveland was everything except you substituted a large wide collar leisure shirt and no tie.

Sun Feb 05 2006Anyone walking around in one of these Don Johnson outfits nowadays would either be headed to a retro nightclub or the subject of outright derision and ridicule intermingled with loud laughter.

Sat Jan 22 2005Who would have thought the most coolest look for men in the eighties with blazer sleeves rolled back to the elbow, big hair, white shoes and other funky pastel colours would be a topic of ridicule. I find it amusing to watch those horrendous fashions of the 80's thats why whenever I feel down I watch as many re-runs of those programmes to remind myself that lifes not that bad after all.
