Sun Jul 03 2011Well Metallica used to be a 5 star rating then Cliff died and they went to about a 3-4 and every album after master of puppets got worse, changed their sound on and justice for all but found new fans with this album so they started going more mainstream, now they don't remember how to write good music anymore . Anyway I've seen them live quite a few times and man they are boring live, they looked like they didn't want to be playing.

Mon Mar 28 2011I grew up listening to these guys every day. ...And Justice For All, I think was one of their best albums even though if you just sit down and listen to it, you can hear how poorly it was produced, Master of Puppets and Ride the Lightning has some great riffs and lyrics. Even Death Magnetic has a couple good songs. I think the only album they went really downhill was St. Anger. All I could hear was PWANG PWANG PWANG and some of the worst riffs and lyrics they have ever written compared to their older albums. But it is better than a few other bands albums out there, although a lot of the songs on St. Anger DO NOT need to be 8 minutes long. Instead of enjoying them, I end up just waiting for them to end.

Mon Mar 28 2011Metalli Cat ,..go to youtube and Lars Ulrich can't even do a drum solo. Very laughable

Sat Jan 22 2011I will admit I have never stood in line to see them in concert, nor do I think they are the greatest band of all time. However, they are not sell outs like a lot of people want to claim when hating on them. I think it has been very clear from the beginning that they never intended to be so famous, they are just that fucking good. And for those who want to whine about their objections of trading their music for free, that does not mean you are a sell out, it just means you want a paycheck for doing your job. Deal with it.

Fri Dec 31 2010I can't say more about METALLICA, certainly they are great band I think although one of their album made me feel that it's not them... http://music-on-files.blogspot.com/

Fri Aug 13 2010Older stuff was better of course, but it all sounds so dated now, largely due to Hetfields voice sounding like a gameshow host on 2 grams of cocaine. Yeah, yay-yeAHH!!! Oh, terrible.

Mon Jun 28 2010hi i love all your songs they are so good i like one a lot i rally like the guitar solo it is great

Sun Apr 18 2010Highly overrated, very typical metal band. The early years when they had Mustaine and Burton were amazing, high quality music full of energy with inventive riffs and solo work. And...Justice for All was a major downer, with basslines that just doubled the guitar lines and it got boring very quickly. Everything after that is pretty much the same boring, talentless, crap. No wonder people still turn to Slayer and Megadeth for real thrash music, Metallica stopped playing anything that wasn't poppy throwaway trash after about 1988.

Fri Jan 15 2010The founding fathers of metal \m/ how can you not give them a 5 out of 5?

Thu Jul 09 2009From 1981 to 1991 the gave us some classics. After that just plain crap. I try to remember the good they did. P.S. you diehard metallica fans tellin' me that they have to change their music and can't make master of puppets over and over again are really pissing me off. Listen to you're shitty st. angers and magnetic death albums.

Tue Feb 24 2009their first five albums are the best. death magnetic is good but not great. focus more on the old stuff and you wont regret it

Thu Jan 08 2009From Kill 'Em All - The black album Metallica employs some of the catchiest guitar riffs in conjunction with harmonies in their slower parts in some songs. i.e. Master Of Puppets. Few guitarists can capture the feel that Kirk Hammitt has with his leads. (Do bands even use lead guitar anymore?) Metallica is one of the best at their craft. Atleast the older stuff.

Wed Nov 19 2008Thank god for there New CD i can handle them again. Death Magnetic finally put Metallica back on the path to being the monster of Metallica, With James going through his demons he almost killed the band, but they all fought hard and came up with a great cd with long songs a MUSIC ONLY track again not seen in a whilefrom them

Wed Nov 19 2008On great metal band that sold out for greed. After the Black Album, did Metallica make a decent album?

Wed Oct 15 2008I love 80's Metallica but with good conscious, I can't give them higher than a three because they haven't made a good album in nearly twenty years.

Wed Aug 13 2008A very good group with a very long/broad background. They use to be a Grade A group and all of there songs back then were really good. Most of there albums were top notch. It seems sadly though they are slowly starting to die. There albums are coming further apart and so many "things" happened during there reign at the top that it has really hurt them now later in there career (like what happened with Napster). They were great...they "Are" good. But they are slowly losing there light...slowly but surely.

Wed Jul 09 2008How Metallica came to be the biggest band in metal is a paradox to me. I do not consider them the most talented or the most creative. That being said, AND JUSTICE FOR ALL and METALLICA are good; RIDE THE LIGHTNING is also worth listening to. MASTER OF PUPPETS and KILL 'EM ALL are over-rated, and everything else is bad; ST. ANGER is awful.

Mon Jun 09 2008Some great albums more than a few years ago- but their gloss has worn off since they were clearly on the wrong side of the file-sharing issue. . .there's something so unseemly about a talented and wealthy rock band doing everything in its power to limit the ability of fans to share music. . .

Wed May 28 2008Metallica were the greatest metal band of the 80's. If they had stopped then they would have 5 stars.

Thu Feb 14 2008They get 5 stars from me for epitomizing the entire humourless and unimaginative genre. Nobody has done more to promote the monotonous pedal to the metal ethos of noise that stirs the loins of teen-aged boys with sheer decibel induced vibration. Good work, men.

Sat Dec 15 2007They wrote a song called "The God that failed" well, they failed, because their music sucks!
by freak55
Wed Nov 28 2007Metallica definately deserves to be high on the list. Songs such as Enter Sandman, Master of Puppets, and ...Justice For All are each great songs that helped to bring around a new age of rock.

Tue May 29 2007Best band of the 80's and beyond, in my opinion. Best of the "Big 4" of the thrash metal genre (others being Anthrax, Slayer, and Megadeth). Great band. I could see them making it to their 30th anniversary, and beyond.

Tue May 15 2007Metallica is un-arguably the best.. in Metal, in musical accomplishments, in their abilities and in their audacity to make music as they bloody well feel like!! Its just ridiculous to see jackasses complaining about the Napster issue. So you did not get to download the shit for free.. but it wasn't like your birth rights were taken away!! And there came more 20 ways of stealing (kazaa and shareza and shit like that) so thank the Napster episode for providing you such a variety of options.. Next - people who say that Metallica 'sold out'. Well, I'm just sympathetic for you all cuz you obviously you have been cursed with the IQ and maturity of earthworms!! They made music as they felt like, they played what they wanted to play. You liked "Kill 'em All" & "Ride the Ligtening" & "Master of Puppets" and some jackasses didn't like them.. likewise a lot of people loved the "Black album" and liked "Load" & "Reload" while you jackasses didn't like them!! Balance! Those who didn't like the... Read more

Fri Mar 23 2007Metallica is the best Heavy Metal band ever. No one can duplicate their sound or their speed(without sounding horrible/ like Slayer)and not to mention their album sales. You would be hard pressed to find a Heavy Metal band that has stayed relevent for twenty plus years like they have, as a matter of fact Metallica is the only Heavy Metal band that has done so. If you ever see these guys live, the first time I saw them was in 1988 on Van Halen's Monsters of Rock Tour, they were great and they play a wide variety of their catalog. I could care less about the Napster thing because I do not use any of those types of websites anyway. I do agree that their albums starting with Load are not anywhere as good as Kill 'Em All to the Black Album, but if they did not change a little, people would be saying that Metallica just keeps putting out the same sh*t. So that is a no win situation for them or any other band, and it is also a very weak argument to make. Metallica is the most influential Meta... Read more

Thu Mar 22 2007No one can base the greatness of Metallica on recent albums. St. Anger was terrible but they dominated metal for so long in the 80s and early 90s. You can't go from loving Metallica to hating them. You can hate the album though. They invented the "thrash" metal. I could care less about the length of their hair and what not. As long as they play great music. It's too bad they are wearing down but it was bound to happen. When you play as much live shows as they did so aggressively at that. Their music was very complex also. Being a guitar player, learning some of their songs is not easy. One inparticularly. If you just started getting into Metallica, you've missed out on a lot. Be sure to get the old stuff.
