    The 240 lacks the polished fit-&-finish one expects from Mercedes, and from a car in the price range. Performance is lackluster, and ride quality is not what one would expect (except onthe smoothest of roads).

    Any Mercedes under $35k is an excellent value. Like the Lexus GS, this is a good buy, but better choices are Lexus ES300 and the BMW 3-Series.
