This is so wrong. I have a strong mother who let me know from the beginning that women were/are not to be treated as objects. She insisted (with a firm hand and resolve) that I treat women respectfully. She taught me to revere women, and I do. I think Mom taught me the right way.

Some people make themselves objects, women and men. Women have no monopoly on intelligence, compassion, etc. and they are as likely to be monsters as men. Putting women on a pedestal is as sure a way of demeaning them as objectifying them; in fact it is two sides of the same coin. I like women, I like pretty women, I like smart women, I like feisty women, and I really like smart pretty feisty women. But I like them at eye level, not on a pedestal.

How can you question this when men are men and women have such lovely objects?

I agree with Solenoid. I think this is something that happens far too much, regardless of gender. A genuine relationship is something that is worth more than its weight in gold.

It's pretty obvious that this is never a good way to approach a relationship. But then, I've known more than a few women who treated men as though they were suplemental income. Neither sex has a monopoly on shallow behavior.

Women can be just as guilty for using men and that could be financially or even sexually the list just goes on. We need to stop pidgeon-holing issues and making feeble excuses just because of someones sex, in many cases both can be guilty.

Here we go again.......can we stop being so gender specific? PEOPLE treating other PEOPLE like objects, is the problem. That's what I see going on all the time, regardless of who is a man or who is a woman.

i dont know many men that still do this (perhaps i'm just lucky w/who i associate with). but i can only guess it's societal stereotypes that allow this to continue, along w/a disjointed women's movement that serves to alienate the bulk of it's own gender by chasing every injustice instead of focusing on one and moving on from their. also a lot of women seem to get some preverse joy out of their subjugation. for me, i do not understand republican women nor women who allow the government to tell them what they can and cannot do w/their bodies. i think this blank willingness sets a precident and allows men in power to continue treating women like object, especially if they let them.

Not to hard to explain. There are women who treat themselves as objects and go out of their way to display themselves in this way. Well, it's not to hard to find some creep who is looking for just that very thing.

And amidst all this glorious women's lib, did anyone ever stop to consider the pitfalls of women treating MEN like objects? Hmm... [NARRATOR: And now JKooks, with chin in hand, tilts his head and gazes into the hazy distance in a mockery of pretentious deep thought worthy of only the cockiest of Daily Show segments...]

This infuriates me to NO END! Most women are not only beautiful--but intelligent, compassionate, and simply awe-inspiring. They do not deserve to be treated as mere objects for the pleasure of men. They should be placed on a pedastal and treated like the princesses they are. This is the most enlightened century yet (as we step ever closer to united world peace) and this outrageous attitude needlessly pollutes our society. I simply respect the fairer sex too much to look at them in such a narrow way that these punks do.
