Mel Gibson

I don't know what Mel believes but I know he is a hell of an entertainer. I do not put a lot of weight on what any famous person says or believes, they are just people. His movie, The Passion of the Christ, was well made. I would have preferred it to be made in english. I think that from a biblical reference, the Jesus in the movie got off lightly. The bible says that Jesus could not be recognized, he was brutalized that much. After watching the movie, I came away thinking that it had a Roman Catholic slant.

Doesn't seem to have helped him overcome his tendencies towards being an anti-social thug with racist viewpoints.

Fought for his beliefs when he could have lost everything.

Can you actually make a movie such as "The Passion" without actually believing in God? I doubt it. In many interviews before and after the release of the movie, Mel has acknowledges his faith.

I guess since Mel's beliefs draw such a reaction, I gotta give him a little backing with a "5."

More to the point of relevance any one person that believes in anything as strong as this man be it religion,politics or academics will and have changed the course of history by their heroics by way of keeping their principles unto death.I believe there is a lesson to extract from any situation and circumstance whether evil or benign aided by an unquenchable passion of belief which will help us to excel to the heights we may be destined for,rather than wallow in mediocrity and finding ourselves brave to belittle men of great and noble character.

Mel Gibson because a star because his SISTER had pushed him into acting school. After trading on his good looks as a young man (he showed up at a screening for Mad Max with a black eye from a bar fight the night before) he married a woman who suffered his atrocious womanizing, violence, alcohol abuse and mysogyny for years. He is a narrow-minded bigot with a big mouth, a bigger ego and a spectactular disregard for the true nature of Christianity. Christ spoke of love, tolerance, kindness, concern for the poor and disasvantaged. All Gibson is concerned about is that he is RIGHT. The man is a slug.

It is not my place to judge someones relationship with God as that is between him or her and God. Something I can comment on though is the fear that "The Passion of the Christ" would trigger anti-Semitism. That fear was found to be unwarranted. A nationwide survey conducted for the Institute for Jewish and Community Research reported that 83% of Americans familiar with the film said it has made them neither more nor less likely to blame today's Jews for Jesus' crucifixion. Nine percent of those surveyed said the film actually has made them less likely to blame today's Jews. Less than two percent said they are more likely to fault modern Jews or Jewish institutions. Gary Tobin, the Institute's president said that discussion of the issue has probably been good for Christian-Jewish relations.

Finally, someone brave enough to share the truth and stop walking around eggshells. now i am one who hates to watch violent movies but mel gibson barely touched on how really violent the crucifixion was. it even says in the bible 'Jesus was marred beyond recognition.' i could still jim caviezels face....the movie wasn't violent enough, he was being nice to all of the protestors. If God loves us enough to let his only son do this for us, it must have meant something.

His religious inclinations notwithstanding let's not forget that Mr. Gibson is also a homophobe and an on-again/off-again misogynist.

Are we supposed to be rating famous people who happen to believe in God? Or are we rating the beliefs of famous people? Mel Gibson is a zealot and an anti-semite. I'm not Jewish and am not particularly sensitive to anti-semitism, but even I could see The Passion was one huge crap taken on the Jews. Screw you, Gibson, and screw your insane beliefs.
