Megatokyo was first written by Rodney Caston and Fred Gallagher together, but Rodney split off after a while. Personally I do not see a difference or problem with only Fred in control, and too many people seem to dislike the (many numerous) comics Fred has written over the strips written by the two of them. That aside this is a wonderful webcomic with a great artstyle and storyline.

Now, Fred Gallagher is an extremely good artist, remarkable in fact, but he's, well, a very sensitive sort of guy. He has a self-confessed chronic obsession with shoujo manga (girls comics) and dating simulators. For the first part of the comic he had Rodney Caston (his more masculine counterpart who took the helm at writing) to ground him and there was a healthy balance of crude male gamer humor and will-they-won't-they romantic elements. Now it just seems Fred lacks direction without his old friend and the comic doesn't seem to be really going anywhere. Now there's a Yin-Yang metaphor if I ever saw one.
