My first ever job was at McDonalds.  I learned a lot there and honestly, working there actually improved me as a person (but maybe just because it was my first job).  However, the pay is pretty bad - a 5 cent pay raise is an insult.  Also, they would make us high school students work until closing at least one weekday per week, which I thought was pretty terrible.  My grades were affected and I was late to school a lot, but they did not care about that.

You know, they are not a bad company. Ray Kroc was a smart man, and I am sure their food was good back in the day, but their food is now crap, and the only reason it is still popular is that they get the best toys in the kid's meals-the kids do not care about the cheeseburger. a very innovative and smart company with a big menu.

Today is January 14. On this date in history, in 1984, Ray Kroc died. Kroc was the person who really introduced the fast food system into American culture. He was not the founder of McDonalds but he was the person who launched McDonalds into what it eventually became. He purchased rights from the McDonald brothers in California and opened his first store in Des Plaines, Illinois, in 1955. The rest is history. He convinced the McDonald brothers to let him handle the franchising of the fast food system, and probably he is more responsible for this way we eat than any other person.

mc donalds cares about making a buck. i worked for this company for 10 years, and i have seen them cheat employees, lie, serve food that is so old i wouldn't feed my dog. the owner i worked for spent more money then she made on herself and never had enough money to put in the stores. lucky for her daddy padded her bank account to make her look like she had money so when corp did her financial review she got away with being broke. this company is a joke.

Ray Kroc was an innovator and father of the fast food industry. While you'll hear both good and bad things about McDonalds, as a corporation, it is very good at what it does. Any complaints about individual restaurants are not necessarily a reflection of the corporation since McDonalds restaurants are franchised and the quality of service at any given restaurant is a direct reflection of that particular restaurant's owner and manager. McDonald's does a fair amount of charity work. There could be worse icons for today's culture.

McDonalds is a company that is constantly trying to change its target market in order to stay in business. Back in the 80s and 90s McDonalds was in its peak, people would bring their children to the Ronald McDonald playground and "Wow" a happy meal! Now, this company strives just to find a market it will feel welcome in. In Japan people are less likely to pay $20 to eat here, and around the world McDonalds is even less popular it seems. It strived to be healthy by adding salads and constantly changing its marketing logo, yet still strives to find that market. Add in the juggle of barely speaking english workers, salty food, and pricey mcmuffins and you will find yourself going elsewhere in search of a real meal.

Well since im a McDonalds employee ill tell u the truth. McDonalds is about the cheapest company on the earth. The nickel and dime their employees to death. Iv worked for McDs 4 times now. I keep trying at different location, and it never matters. Thy dont want to pay if u get hurt. They dont pay back wages(im currently tryin to get my pay. Over 3 chks was shorted 170.00. They refuse to pay), etc. If u saw half of the things going on u would NEVER eat there again. Look at it this way. Probably 85 % of employess are teenagers...enuff said. Thy make messes, dont wash up, play pranks, iv seen som sneeze in food and serve...etc. Dont get me wrong, im sure some Mcdonalds are great. But in my exp. and all the others iv talked to, they are not.Anyway, Have a nice day and come back.

the biggest name in fast food. i must say, though, even with the release of 'supersize me', the movie presenting mcdonald's for what it really is, mcdonald's is still on top.

I love everything on McDonald's menu. I don't go there for my health and I wish theyd give up on making the menu healthier. I'm glad that they still keep the old classics. McDonalds is the biggest fast food chain in the country, for such a low rating on this site they sure get a lot of repeat business...

jmj310 that would be Morgan Spurlock who did that in the documentary Super Size Me and he almost died of liver failure...bon appetite. And while personal reponsibility does play a role so does corporate reponsibility to not lure children into eating the fat laden, sugary junk. And having a McDonalds on every block doesn't help Americans make better choices either.

I am no fan of McDonald's corporation, but consumers do have to take some responsibility for what they put in their mouths. McDonald's isn't holding a gun to their heads forcing them to eat.

I was recently told by one of my professors that there was a study done regarding McDonalds food. I dont know how true this is, but apparently after feeding one healthy male nothing but McDonalds three meals a day for thirty days, the guy almost died. His organs began to shut down. Yeah, thats no good.
