Mon Mar 30 2009My personal favorite of the Hawaiian Islands, Maui offers the best variety of what the island chain has to offer.

Wed Feb 18 2009Maui is the middle ground between Oahu and Kauai. It has a small nightlife but it is starting to get ruined with its Walmarts and freeways. Last time I was there, I was in an area where there was tons of graffity and garbage and it made me so sad. There are still areas of the island that are pristine but I fear it is heading to the same graveyard that Oahu went to...an Orange County city feeling. My favorite islands are still the Big Island and of course, Kauai, the garden island. Aloha

Thu Dec 29 2005I have been to Maui twice first time was on my honeymoon we took a 7 day cruise to all the Hawaiian Islands and decided we liked Maui the best, so we decided to go back and stay at Maui for 10 days for our 1 year anniversary and it was the BEST vacation I have ever been on in my life. We are going back in two months for our 2year anniversary. The road to Hanna was fun and we saw lots of breathtaking scenery. It was also cool driving to the Volcano. The big beach was nice there was also a nice beach on the road to Hana that is very secluded. Maui is awesome, we plan to go back every year for our anniversary. Opakapaka fish is to die for, it is so delicious definately get it when you go to Maui. If you are looking for a nice hotel at an affordable price stay at Kanaplai Shores very nice has a fitness center and spa and is right on the ocean. I can't wait to go back in two months.

Tue Dec 20 200510 day MAUI vacation in 2004.~~My husband and I preferred the laid back atmosphere of Kihei compared to Lahaina. If there's only 2 of you--absolutely get a Jeep. You wont regret it. We drove the road to Hana where the smells alone are worth the drive! We snorkeled Molokini (and all over the south shore), saw the sunrise over Haleakala, shopped Lahaina, took in the Old Lahaina Luau, Watched whales from our lanai, Went on a deep sea fishing excursion(and dined on fresh Mahi Mahi for supper as a result), we saw Iao Valley, the black beaches on the North Shore.....I could go on and on and on....We're going back in a few short weeks and recommend visiting this island at least once in your life (and then you'll be hooked). Drink lots of water, dont forget the sunscreen and you'll be set. We stayed in a condo on the beach and ate meals at 'home' as it were. Spending $$ on food doesnt really trip my trigger. I wouldnt do it any other way. This trip can be as cheap or expensive as you ma... Read more

Mon Nov 07 2005If your not a native of Hawaii you probably don't know much about it. I figured that sometime in my life I would get over there but it was never a burning desire. I finally made it this last summer. I could go on and on about all the details but instead of draw you a picture, I'll plant a seed. Imagine a place that has never got below freezing and never above 100 degrees. That's Maui, 24/7, before you were born, while you're growing up, while you're getting old, and after you are dead. It is the closest thing outdoors to a greenhouse. So pick an ocean and move it inside your favorite greenhouse and place the sky above. I fed a sparrow by hand outdoors. I think that's enough to describe it until you get there. Next time I want to go to Kauai. First time you should probably go to Maui. If you don't live there, it would probably take million$ to have enough travel experience to truly rate the islands. The few big secrets are: It is 'cheap' to get there and so, very, very, expensi... Thu Jun 23 2005I went there in middle school, which was very long ago. However, this place is so very beautiful. I also went snorkeling in Molokini crater.World-famous Molokini crater is a half-submerged extinct volcanic crater just off the Maui's southern coast. It is one of Maui's most popular snorkel & dive attractions. In the waters around Molokini, you'll find hundreds of tropical fish. One of the best experiences of my life. I Can't wait to go back for my honeymoon.

Wed Apr 27 2005Stay in Wailea if you like upscale resorts. Big Beach and Little Beach (for nudists) are great. The Northern part of the island is wild.

Thu Aug 19 2004Maui has it all... scenic drives (the Na Pali coast), a 12,000 foot volcano you can drive to the top of and hike around, awesome beaches and snorkeling, and a night life that seems to be right out of a Jimmy Buffet song. My favorite of the islands because of it's diversity.

Sat May 22 2004Maui is breathtakingly beautiful. Exquisite natural beauty from the martian like landscape at the summit of Halealaka to the pristine aqua ocean. Maui is a tropical paradise.

Thu Apr 01 2004Maui is nice, but I don't think there's the same kind of surf on this island that there is on Oahu. That's the only thing that keeps it from being a 5. Although, the Maui Taco chain in Hawaii should have given this island another boost.
