Matt was a wonderful man god rest his soul but the man was a scam artist and could not cook his way out of a paper bag. This food is easiuly the worst mexican food ever. I have seriously had better Mexican TV dinners.

I have heard mixed reviews about this place, and I was very disappointed when we ate there today. My mother ordered a "Chile Relleno"..and its basically a stuffed poblano pepper with cheese. It's was half a poblano pepper topped with cheddar cheese...this was no chile relleno...

They delivered our food to the wrong couple (2 people out of a group of 8) and this couple had ordered something completely different then what they were given. When they brought the rest of the food to the group (who ordered after us) they gave them all their food except a plate that was supposed to go to the couple that got ours. They took that plate back and probably threw it away. We got our food after waiting another 20 minutes. They never apologized and acted like nothing was wrong. Our drinks were always empty. The food was average. Could have got the same at a $2.00 buffet. We will never eat there again. It was funny that the people who got our food ate it even though we heard them talk about that they did not order the item.

It's probably more Tex than Mex too. But, it's also delicious and filling. The margaritas are pricey, but the alcohol content and size mak...

Food was flavorful, plentiful and very, very good. Service was average (somewhat slow with refills and extra napkins) but the restaurant was extremely busy, so I'll cut them a little slack on that. Our only criticism: the indoor dining area has the acoustics of a 19th century lunatic asylum. My husband and I both left with headaches!

We waited 1 hour for our food and it was not even worth it. They had issues in the kitchen. The beans were disgusting and so were the tamales. The cheese enchiladas were not tasteful. The salsa was not spicey at all. Clearly the "CHEF" of this establishment has a way to go perhaps out the door.........hopefully. I would not recommend this place to anyone. They did not even have homemade tortillas. For an upscale Mall in UPTOWN VILLAGE, THIS PLACE DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE THERE.

On the Grand Opening date at the Cedar Hill location we were turned away, we were told that the computer wasn't working properly and that they would only take people who were on the waiting list. We returned again last night and we were told that they were closing at 9:00p.m. and because the wait was 45mins they were not adding people to the waiting list. Matt's has this temporary attitude because the other restaurants scheduled to be in Uptown Village aren't open yet. Step up your game or allow another restaurant who will be open with working computers to take over the lease.

I have eaten at almost every mexican restaraunt in town... This is hands down one of the BEST! It left me definitely wanting to tell others... I took my best girlfriend there for her birthday today... We had the Bob Armstrong dip (heard so much about it) It was perfect...really fresh guacamole & sour cream, flavorful ground beef, and thick wonderfully cheesy queso. A small order was enough for 2 hungry women to share! Complimentary tortillas (ask for them) were hot and melt in your mouth. Chips and salsa were great too. We shared the lunch burrito plate.. Both agreed - Best burrito we have ever had. Great flavor to the chili, beef and cheese. Highly recommend... Neat location & great patio.

My wife and I can't resist splitting a Bob Armstrong on the patio. not the smoked Bob, the original Bob. If we feel really hungry, we go for a whole bowl. After that, we're usually too full to eat entire entrees, so we split an enchilada plate or something. I prefer sitting under the umbrellas outside rather than the upper deck area. But, if you have to eat inside, try to sit facing the large mural. You'll enjoy naming all the characters.

The Scene The high ceiling features two oversized, ancient-looking chandeliers to illuminate the large dining room. Booths along the front windows offer a view of the Lakewood center, while tables on the upper area give a view of the bustling dining room. One wall is devoted to the culmination of awards Matt's has earned over the years, while a mural of Texas celebrities covers the opposite wall. The patio is relaxing in pleasant weather. Servers are courteous, helpful and quick. The Food The menu is traditional Tex-Mex cuisine with a few American options. The Bob Armstrong dip is a favorite starter: guacamole and ground beef smothered in queso. For those not sure what to order, combination dinners are a good way to go, such as the No. 1 dinner with an enchilada (chicken or beef), taco and tamale. The tacos al carbon are flavorful and filling; enough for two people.

Okay, so people are always saying how great Matt's Ranchero is but it just doesn't do it for me. Yes, the outside patio is great but not when you get a smoker next to you or a party of silly pre-teens. The service is less than impressive and usually it takes much longer than it should to get refills, food and the check. I've tried the fajitas and was dissapointed with the flavor of the meat and sides. The tortillas are nothing special and the hot sauce is even less interesting. The one thing I have liked are the Chicken Quesadillas. They are very tasty and it's a good portion of food. I would not recommend this place for date or business meeting. If you are looking to drink, smoke and wait longer than you should for your not so tasty food, then this is the place for you.

I love this place! It's comfortable and unpretentious, but you won't find a better TexMex dinner in town. Start with the Bob Armstrong dip and a margarita. Any dinner on the menu is wonderful. You will not be disappointed!

All their food is fresh and good. It would be nice if they had delivery or a place for pickup for food to go. But other than that it is good.
