This movie was absolutely dreadful to watch and listen to, filled with terrible slowing effects that had been done in video games for years who cares, and Keanu Reeves is terrible as always, he sounds and acts the same way in every movie, and i cant believe they made more than 1

Except for the normal Keanu Reeves, devoid of any emotions, performance. I think the Agent Smith character, which was supposed to be a computer program, displayed more emotion.

"Neo, you're a wizard." Oh wait, wrong movie. I'm not even going to get into the Matrix's plot or else you're going to not believe me. Because the plot's that crazy. I've never met Neo but he seems like a nice guy. A very nice computer hacker. But then he turns all BA just 'cause he has awesome karate skills and can fly. (A very good excuse to be BA) So about the movie: It's confusing but that makes it all the more interesting. The fight scenes are epic and the scenes are timeless. The Matrix has always been an action favorite and will stay that way for a very, very long time. The Matrix Reloaded, however, is a whole different story. And that's not meant in a good way! Merlalalalalalalalah!

This is a great movie. Whether or not the writers were trying to be theological/christian or not it hit many christian new testament themes. It could not have been done better by a christian movie production.

A reasonably engaging and conceptually interesting story and production, all of which was required to overcome the definitive wooden Keanu Reeves lead performance. It was influential in kickstarting a wave of films examining the impacts of the rapid advance of technology and the virtual realm that all seem to end up with a lot of gunfights and things blowing up. The subsequent entries in the series became increasingly cliché ridden, tarnishing the reputation of the original.

The Matrix was a decent movie with some good special effects. Some people are obsessed with the movie, but for me it was just another sci-fi movie. It was a well made movie with a pretty decent premise, but it's not a movie that I feel any need to watch again.

The Matrix broke my head, along with much of its viewers. Aside from having stunning effects and crazy action, the plot and setting and whole idea behind the movie was simply great. I cannot recall how many times I have seen this movie parodied in some way, from the slow-mo bullets, to the red pill blue pill decision, The Matrix will endure as one of Hollywood's greatest films. Unfortunately the other movies did not come close to the excellence of the first.

Excellent sci-fi film. The sequels are far less compelling relying on special effects to carry the movies.

anything with keanu Reeves in it is gold! and it doesn't at first glance seem lie it takes place in the furture, but when they take you into the cmputer and show you what everyone is seeing when they're hooked into the machines is cool

It's so passe now, but it almost hard to remember how groundbreaking this film was when it opened. . .it's not aging well due to overexposure, but it was a damn fine entry to the sci-fi genre. . .and Fishburne as Morpheus is the real star. . .

They really should have stopped with this one considering the only redeeming quality of the other two is Persephone.

The special effects and storyline alone make this a great sci-fi movie. The acting never detracted from the story. Lawrence Fishburn really put himself on the map with this movie.

Man, this is one unique film! Special effects that have been imitated by other film makers countless times, awesome (and scary) plot, kick-a** fight scenes, this one's got it all.

I gave in and watched the Matrix after it had already been out on video for a while. It makes me wish I would have caved and saw it at the theater. I loved it.

A spectacular movie with an outstanding cast. I never get tired of watching The Matrix, as there is always something new, exciting, and intriguing with every viewing. Keanu Reeves succeeded in establishing Neo as a new hero figure. He brought him to life, gave him all of the important qualities necessary to move the movie along and did it in a unique and sophisticated way. This movie will live on through it's groundbreaking special effects, it's alluring storyline, and the visual experience which embodies the essence of that which is the Matrix.

Really good entertaining Sci-Fi film. There were flaws in it, but not enough to not recommend it. Good performances by one and all. There was no need to expand on this film.

This is a movie that you watch once and really like it because its different and entertaning. After that you dont think much of it. This movie is a lot better than the next two because it leaves wonder with the unanswered questions; the answers werent really that great.

Every time I watch this movie I see some thing new. Keanu, who is not my favortie actor, does a good job in this. He will always be Theodore Logan to me. The rest of the cast is excellent and the effects are spectacular. If you have been living in a cave you have to see this movie it is awesome. Looking forward to the sequals. Update: Well the sequals were a bit of a bust but the original still holds up.

I assume we are only rating the first Matrix, right? The first Matrix was brilliant! ... because it left unanswered questions. Unfortunately when they try to answer the questions, the story is very unrealizable and - dare I say - puerile and absurd. The story was an afterthought to try to somehow explain why reality would be a huge networked simulation. The story needs alot of work. See the first movie though for its uniqueness.

A movie I could watch over and over again. The deep plot underlying it is one to ponder, and its ties to philosophy, theology, and religion is ingenius. There are so many little things to notice that you didn't catch the first time. The special effects are nice, the acting is okay, but what really gets me is that little idea that everything around you is a dream world, and the connections to ancient cultures and theories. Excellent, intelligent film.

I cannot even begin to describe how truly amazing this film is. A far cry from the tripe awful sequels that spawned from what could only be described as a great mind maze of pure genius. The Matrix is completely different to the sci-fi pre-decessor genre and there was truly no film before that reached the cinematic heights of parody - bullet-time (Slow-motion scenes) Shrek, The Centre Park commercials etc, special effects and even storytelling. It hails many questions about our minds and our constant reliance of computers, the world we live in and the many questions that still haven't been answered.

For those who didn't follow the movie trilogy... It's hard to make a movie about Christ (THE Anointed ONE) and explain the human/spiritual condition of the world without getting ridiculed. NEO is a play on words. If you switch the letters around, it's ONE. Thus, once Mr. Anderson became fully enlightened, he only referred to himself as NEO (The ONE). If you don't get the reference to Jesus, right there, it's because it's a reference to Buddah (THE Enlightened ONE). They linked these 2 together as the same person for a reason. That's why the trilogy is flooded with quotes from Buddah and the Bible. In Reloaded, before NEO met Seriph (who is an angel, by the way), there were 2 shrines shown. One for Jesus and one for Buddah. I can point so many things out, like NEO becoming ONE with TRINITY after his arrival in ZION. The metaphors go on and on. The Watchowski Brothers were very slick with the writing and direction of this trilogy. I call this trilogy, Excellent.

Cheap philosophy, mixed images, over-abundance of metaphors become meaningless. Would be good if stayed with the story.

This is one of those movies that's only good on the big screen. Since is was so popular, our math teacher decided to play it in class after finals & NO ONE wanted to see it again, they just groaned.
