I got this game when it first came out and was immediately disappointed. Fortunately I was able to resell at Christmas on Amazon for about the price I paid for it, so no real loss. I really like WiiSports, Mario Galaxy, We Cheer (yes...I know :P) and other Wii games that take advantage of different gestures and motion with the Wiimote. While Mario & Sonic Olympics aspires to do this, it appears that they never actually tested the gestures to see if they made sense. Swimming is downright impossible, same with the javelin and other throwing games. The trampoline was really the only reason I played the game for more than 30 seconds because the way the controls work in that minigame is actually pretty fun. Unfortunately, the other critical problem with this game makes even the fun parts unplayable. Basically everything requires 10 screens to click through each time you play a mini-game. Even when you're replaying the same exact thing it takes for...ev...er to get back to the fun part bec... Read more

Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, like so many other games on Wii, is great for when friends are coming over, but gives an unsatisfying single player experience. There is no shortage of modes, the list including circuit mode, which is like the cups from Mario Golf or Tennis, and Mission mode, which is similar to the mode of the same name from Mario Kart DS. The game also includes single event mode, which is essentially the exhibition mode from other sports games. To add to this, SEGA has made the circuit events playable with up to three players playing at one time. The list of events includes typical Olympic events such as the 100m dash, the Long Jump, Hammer Throw, Archery, etc. These events are rounded out by four dream events, Dream Fencing, Dream Race, Dream Table Tennis, and Dream Platform. Dream Platform is easily the highlight of the four, essentially a 10,000 foot skydive.Circuit mode, the primary single player option, is rather easy but the ability o play with two other hu... If I had a Wii, and I got this game, I would use Sonic for the 100m!

This is one Wii game I'm definitely looking forward to! Set for a holiday release exclusively on Wii (Sorry PS3 and 360 owners!), this game brings Mario and Sonic together with the official (!) Olympic license for the 2008 Games in Beijing. Little is known about the title so far except other Sonic and Mario characters (Tails, Knuckles, Yoshi) and some events include track & field, table tennis and judo!
