    I'm sure Linda Lovelace is all chocked up, but it has nothing to do with Marilyn Chambers dying.

    I commented on her in another review, but her death does strike me in odd, lingering ways (maybe it's because I also received word yesterday that a guy I used to be friendly with had also died). Of all the so-called "famous" porn stars, from Linda Lovelace to Jenna Jameson, she was the only one that I sort of maintained an interest in throughout the decades. As an adolescent, I thought she was gorgeous, a WASPier version of a young Jane Fonda. She had a paperback autobiography out in the mid-70's with a photo section; I stole it from the local drugstore, and I did a lot of...ahem..."one-handed" reading with it. A few years later, a friend and I traveled to Times Square and went to one of the adult theatres (we were too young to get in, but they let us in anyway) to see "Insatiable", and I thought my eyes were going to pop out of my head at what was transpiring on-screen (and my eyes weren't the only thing that...never mind).     I can't say I shed a lot of tears for a porn queen, but she is symptomatic of the throwaway nature of celebrity. I don't mourn her, but I'm sorry for her relatively youthful death.

    Marilyn Chambers' "acting" career took place before my time, but I do remember her name from my early adolescence. My memories of her are trying to get a good glimpse of her through some scrambled pay per view signals.
