Tue Apr 05 2011Marble Slab has gone down from the time I started ordering ice cream there. I want to say I started about 10 years ago. At first, I would order a banna split, but I asked for it to be made the way I want it. It would be made in the this big clear round tube like bowl. I would only like the Vanilla flavored ice cream with just fresh strawberries, chocolate filing on top along with sliced almond, whipped cream, and a cherry. I would asked if they can chop up some banana and just throw that on top. And I was a happy costumer. But until one day a girl employee did it for me and just said "why didn't you just ask a banana split". I told her I'm sorry that I took her time up. And never went there again. Then I decided to go back within years and try it again, and went to the one on Hwy 6 near West Rd- Houston,TX. And when I asked for the same the man employee said "Why are woman so picky". Thats when I decided that they are just getting worse. I haven't been since, until last night my boyfri... Read more

Tue Apr 05 2011The Marble Slab Creamery utilizes a frozen granite slab upon which the ice cream and 'mixins' are mixed together. Employees use ice cream scoops and other hand tools to mix desired ingredients into the ice cream at the time of purchase.

Sat Oct 23 2010First time at a Marble Slab Creamery today (Airdrie, AB - Canada). Was in the mood for a milkshake. My jaw nearly dropped when I saw the price on the price board, $5.99 but figured it was an ice cream shop, it would be a great milkshake. I get to the till to pay, and I'm charged $7.99. Huh? I ask the gal why it's not $5.99 like posted? She says because I had "2 add-ins"....what? Are you for real? When I made my selection for a milkshake, I looked at the flavors of ice cream displayed in the case. The one I chose was White Chocolate Raspberry. Nowhere did anyone explain that this particular flavor of milkshake involved adding "anything" - I thought that's the way it came for crying out loud. $8 for a milkshake, you've got to be kidding me? And the size of the cup was pitiful. I finished it off in 10 minutes, not a word of a lie. It wasn't thick and creamy and there were annoying little bits of "gritty" stuff throughout it (little pieces of chocolate, I'm hoping?). Mc... Read more

Thu Sep 16 2010Review of Marble Slab in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Two of us went to the Marble Slab in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada near Kildonan Place Shopping Centre. While incredibly noisy from the refrigeration machine, the place was clean, pleasant and tidy. Problem is, their product is way overpriced for what you get. This is one of those "concept"joints, you know, there's a gimmick to bring you in because the product cannot sell itself. The gimmick at Marble Slab is that they mash up your ice cream on a cold stone slab before they stick it in the cone or container. However, I did not want any add-ins, but when I saw that they were mashing the ice cream I felt I better add something to my cone, so added 2 items. What's with mashing ice cream????? Ice cream is soft and easy to eat. They should ask you, before mashing, if you want add-ins. If you don't want extras, why mash? Two small (tiny, actually) cones + 2 add-ins (small qty) = more than $10.00. Service pleasant. Place was empty e... Read more

Mon Sep 13 2010If i have to rate it with a star, they dont deserve one. I went to the one in Westheimer, Houston TX. Thought was going to treat myself with fingerlicking strawberry shortcake. The lady didn't even greet me, fine with me but right there and then customer service already noted flanked. She acted like hurry up get your order done. So I was deciding for a min or two if i wanted it plain or gourmet type. So i told the lady to go ahead with strawberry shortcake. I thought it always comes with sweet icecream anyways she asked me what icecream flavor do i want? duh! so i said whatever that comes with it. What she did was just put the cake at the cake at the bottom the icecream and syrup with candied strawberry on top. I was very much into expectation that the purpose of the mixing board they have infront of them is to always mix the icecream with the customer's selected toppings unless the customers decided to just top it with their choice. Anyhow, I asked the lady, "Aren't you supposed to mi... Read more

Mon Jul 12 2010As far as the ice cream goes, its good, but not spectacularly so. The service was polite and friendly, but pretty slow which becomes a factor when they're mixing ice cream on a hot day. In my view, its overpriced for what you get.

Mon Jul 12 2010Marble Slab.. phenomenal!! Definitely the best I've ever had.. my family and I are becoming part of the franchise and opening a store in our town!

Thu May 06 2010Marble Slab is a rip-off.......they have taken the selling/pricing of an ice-cream cone to a whole new level......it is definately not worth the price paid. Their pricing is complicated and if you don't have time to study the price board (most people don't as they are people waiting in line behind you), you will end up paying a lot more than expected. Complaints are not well received and customer satisfaction does not exist. A VERY bad experience. Trust me, avoid this company.

Mon Oct 12 2009The ice cream is hell a expensive not worth the money. Worse of all they don't even fill up the cup for the money they charge you. The customer service is horrible. I rather go to cold stone where its less expensive, good ice cream and very good customer service. CA, Fresno

Tue Sep 09 2008This email is to inform you of the worst experience I ever had. On 9.8.2008 which is my wedding anniversary my family and I were celebrating by spending the day together, we went to Katy Mills Mall where this Marble Slab Creamery is located, to purchase Ice Cream, I ordered a Fudge Brownie ice cream however, while waiting on my order I took a picture with our digital camera of my Husband and 7 month old daughter while he was holding her. The ice cream had too much fudge so I Kindly asked the person who called his self the "Manager" if he could re-make it and he told No, and continued to attend to other customers, after I stood there for about two minutes he came to me again and said " we do not do make overs, that's the way it's made", That's when I said, I'm a customer and you are telling me No" what kind of manager are you? Then he said all I can do is give you some ice cream in one of the small cups. So we sat right in front of the Store on a bench and ate the ice cream. Not realizi... Read more

Sun Aug 24 2008Marble Slab in Newbury Park, California, was an amazing ice cream experience. WONDERFUL, clean, very friendly and helpful staff creating the BEST ICE CREAM IVE EVER HAD! They make the ice cream fresh in the store every day, and it is way better and more versatile than any other ice cream store. A Little pricey, but worth it!! soo good!

Mon May 12 2008I recently visited your location in La Cantera Mall, San Antonio TX on 05/11/08. I was very displeased, the place was just flat out disgusting and filthy. Tables were dirty, floors were dirty, employees were filthy.I dont know which was worse.....The fact that they did not sanitize correctly, did not wear gloves, all 4+ employees had ice cream all over their arms or the fact there was 8 of us in our group and all of us seem to have chunks and pieces of other peoples toppings in our ice cream and even a different flavor of ice cream that didnt belong. This visit gave me even more the reason to stick to Cold Stone Ice Cream, and contact the health department!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very unsatisfied and grossed out customer. Oh I forgot to mention there hands were even touching our ice cream. YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sun Sep 30 2007The person who wrote prior to this post is out to spread a bad image on Marble Slab, specifically in Calgary, Market Mall. This person understood the "Do not touch" sign and presumed to touch the mixins. The person was politly told to leave the store for the day (long story short, her friends or relatives had another three incidents in the day where they didn't became irate because no profsional writer could write on their cake) since for the day, we were "unable" to satisfy her. Having been told she was kicked out, she blurted and accused the manager of racial discrimination. Confused? You should be, because it's utterly irrelavent. Just shows the kind of people Marble Slab sadly attracts.

Wed Sep 05 2007I only gave it 3 stars because are you ready for this??? I AM NOT A BIG ICE CREAM PERSON. Now you may all pick your jaws up off the floor :p Everyone thinks I am a freak because I'm not crazy about Ice Cream LOL.

Wed Aug 22 2007Terrible service. They displayed a large cup but told me that they are out of the plastic cup and I would have to have a cone. I didn't want the cone but suggested that they could put that in a larger cup that they have. They refused to do so and told me that it is against their policy and the larger plastic cups cost more. That was the most stupid argument I have ever heard. I won't go there anymore. They are also expensive.

Thu Mar 01 2007Perhaps Y'all should read the papers. Marble Slab and Maggie Moo's have been bought out by a shoe merchandizer, Athletes Foot. Gee, that sounds like they have great Ice Cream, something must not be right with thier concepts if not only one of Cold Stone's competition sells, but both.

Mon Sep 25 2006No complaints...I might leave a little lighter in the wallet and a bit heavier on the scale, but I never leave unsatisfied.

Thu Mar 23 2006This corporation has the worst customer service. The Northridge store's employees were rude to us when they refused a valid coupon off of the internet. I wrote to the corporation. They never responded. I wrote another letter criticizing that they did not respond to me. I was promised free ice cream coupons for the negative experience. It has been almost 2 weeks and nothing. I wrote asking when should I expect these coupons. Of course I never heard back. They make promises they don't keep. Everyone boycott Marble Slab!

Sat Dec 31 2005I've never been disappointed...maybe a bit more pricey than others, but every ingredient is fresh and you watch them "concoct" whatever you want. I wish I could include this as a regular stop, but dietary restrictions do not allow...

Mon Apr 11 2005Pretty good but most choices are too sweet and/or gummy. Also, prices are rather expensive. If you want really good ice cream, go to France or Italy.

Mon Apr 11 2005Tried there ice cream this weekend at a franchise expo. I found there chocolate ice cream to have no taste, just like cold stone. I must say the Maggie Moo's ice cream was true to it's flavor!! I do not recommend this ice cream at all.

Sat Feb 12 2005I tried Cold Stone and it was ok but a little sticky, but when I tried Marble Slab it was the greatest ice-cream I have ever tasted in my life.

Fri Feb 11 2005After tasting Cold Stone and thinking it tasted waxy, didn't taste that good, and was expensive, I didn't understand what all of the fuss was about. Then I tasted Marble Slab and was blown away. I talked with the owner and found out that it was 100% natural with no additives or preservatives. If you like thick, creamy ice cream with not a lot of add ins that hides the taste, then in my opinion, Marble Slab is the best pure ice cream that I have tasted except for Giardelli Chocolate Factory in San Francisco.

Wed Jun 16 2004WOW I TASTED MARBLE SLAB ICE CREAM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SAN FRANCISCO BY THE GIANTS BALLPARK AND I CAN SAY IT WAS HEAVEN! I THOUGHT COLD STONE WAS GOOD BUT I MUST SAY MARBLE SLAB IS MUCH MUCH BETTER!!!!

Mon Feb 16 2004Someone is stacking the vote... check out SJC, godfather, etc... leaving Positive 5 multiple 5 star comments for Marble Slab, and multiple 1 star comments for Cold Stone and others. Get a life. This single star is to balance things out a bit. You know that Marble Slab is on their way to being the Seattle's Best of ice cream... bought out by their bigger and better rivals.
