Sun Sep 26 2010I know a lot of people prefer Google Maps, but I used Mapquest before Google Maps existed, and it's always gotten me where I needed to go. I've found that Mapquest tends to send me on fewer pointless detours than Google Maps. Both sites work, but I generally prefer Mapquest because I am used to with it. I am old fashion -something works for me , I am not going to try new. Http://www.beautifulmingles.com

Mon Sep 06 2010I actually think they do a fairly good job.....my problem is that they take a lot of time telling me how to get out of my drive!!!!!!

Thu Aug 19 2010I like a lot of things about Mapquest but I still favor Google Maps. This is a good site to have as a backup though, it's very accurate in it's results.

Thu Mar 20 2003Well, they generally get me at least close to where I have to be (within a few streets), and I got a few wrong directions (replacing "left" with "right", for example). But, it's easy to use, very comprehensive, and allows for different types of travel (highway, off-highway, fastest, etc.), and they're printer-friendly. If traveling somewhere that's very unfamiliar (like another state), it may be advised to keep your eyes open for road names on both the left and right.

Thu Dec 06 2001A good site to get maps from. I have found the maps to be very legible and they are basically the same as expedia.com's. the steps in finding a hotel for a city are quite differnet than expedia.com or travelocity.com. and you have to enter addresses and you have to enter more freferances in than expeida or trevlocity.com It does find good hotels for you and It does have more preferances than expedia for planning a trip so far as searching for a hotel. I like this site for maps and directions, but I have not really tried the site much so far as actual booking or anything like that. overall, i'm impressed.

Mon Oct 08 2001I prefer to use mapblast only because I have had to use mapquest before and the directions are percise enough. I do however, like that mapquest has the airial effects. You can see a town from space! Pretty cool!

Wed Oct 11 2000They give decent maps..however more often than not, their directions get me lost. Granted, I am geographically challenged but for whatever reason, it is difficult to follow their directions, I have had better luck with Travelocity. The search freaks out pretty often too. I have entered major city names and it comes back with no results one time, and a few minutes later it finds what I am looking for. In my experience the site has been somewhat unreliable, however, like I said, the maps are detailed and easy to read.

Thu Sep 21 2000I love the idea of this site, and I used to love the site itself, but lately I've had nothing but bad experiences with MapQuest. The site is slow, sometimes my maps don't load, and the user interface is far more difficult than it needs to be. I tend to be a pretty loyal Web site user, so I've continued to go back, but the last three times I was there I had to give up and go over to MapBlast instead. Now I usually make MapBlast my first stop. If MapQuest cleans up its act, I'll go back, but until then they've lost a user.

Thu Sep 07 2000I use Mapquest all the time and find it to be an indispensable tool. I still ask dear old dad for directions if I'm going in state but for anyplace else it's Mapquest for me.

Mon Aug 21 2000Mapquest has made going somewhere a much more pleasurable experience. I always hated writing down directions and noting landmarks. Invariably, I would leave something out or I would be told to make a right instead of a left. With Mapquest (and Yahoo Maps which is powered by Mapquest), all you need to do is type in the starting address and the ending address and you are given turn by turn directions. Sure, there are mistakes sometimes, but you generally end up where you are supposed to and always end up within a short distance of your destination. Just another way that the Internet has made people's lives easier.

Mon Aug 21 2000I have never had a bad experience with Mapquest. I think their directions are detailed and as spot on as can be. Sometimes you'll put in locations and there will be a mile or so gap from where their directions end and the actual destination but I've only seen that for very out of the way woodsy places. Otherwise I think this is one of the BEST uses of the web. What could be better than to have turn by turn directions accessible for FREE, to any where you want to go with miles to travel, time estimated, which roads have tolls etc. You can't beat it. They should charge like .20 cents per map or something, I would definitely pay that for each time I use their service. My only complaint would be that their maps are so small on the print out that you don't really have a visual to reference and I know you can enlarge it but then portions get cut off. It should automatically assume (or at least give you the ability) that you want to see where your going as well as read it and print it... Read more

Wed Aug 09 2000I use MapQuest a lot to find out how to get to places in other cities when I travel, or even locally to get directions to friends homes from out of town. Easy to use.

Fri Jul 28 2000Talking about Mapquest, I wanted to find the new location of my favorite club. At that time, I new the area considerably good but not enough to find the exact street location. I didn't want to get lost, so as I followed the exact directions from MapQuest. I began to realize what a long route MapQuest took me just to get on the freeway. I went through all these small streets, I was getting so impatient. Finally I got to Club, so on my way back, I went through my own route. In my opinion and experience, MapQuest gives good driving directions when you don’t know the area/location at all, but not so good when you find all the “indirect and long ways” to get to your destination.

Wed Jun 07 2000Great, great service. I have only had one bad experience with them, which is actually a pretty funny story. I had a pretty important meeting with a Inktomi in Silicon Valley. I used Mapquest to get door to door directions, and I left extra early from San Francisco to give myself plenty of time. I followed the directions perfectly and...... I wound up at some sort of a yacht club or something. I walked around for a little while asking these cartoonlike yacht guys if this was Inktomi - people of course looked at me like I was crazy. Fortunately I had left enough time that I was able to call the company and figure out where I was supposed to go. I found it ironic that an Internet powerhouse such as Inktomi would not be indexed properly on Mapquest...

Tue Feb 15 2000MapQuest is better than Yahoo maps b/c it bothers to tell you the Exit #s off the highway. But the layout of Yahoo is more intuitive and its Yellow Pages functionality is head of the class.

Wed Jan 05 2000Sometimes the directions are a little off and/or give confusing detail, but I haven't gotten lost yet. I travel a great deal all over the country, so I use MapQuest quite a bit and it always helps to get me where I need to be.
