Mon Feb 04 2008Mao Zedong did for China, what Stalin did fo Russian. The huge country was converted to the slaves of the Cummunist leaders. Active brainwashing and simple killing during Cultural revolution. Interesting is that many Chinese still praise him. It is maybe becase you cannot tell truth there, especially to foreigner, or due to the intense political education.

Wed Mar 15 2006Like all STalinists, doesn't even deserve a single star. Okay...Maybe 0.5 for being less evil than Stalin, Pot, and Ceausescu.

Thu Dec 01 2005Mao Tse-Tung rose the chinese poeple from their knees. He has done some cruel things, but china was devestated after WWII and needed a leader like Mao to get the Chinese to rise high. Over 70 million people died under Mao. That is terrible, but with anybody else, more would have died and today, over a billion would be on their knees. Mao led China through the their cultural revolution faster than anybody else, and today China has the fastest growing economy and Mao set them up for it. Mao has done some terrible things but the result is unbelievable. China is on pace to becoming the most efficient society the world has ever produced. I am not a communist, but you have to look at the facts and relize where China is today.

Sun Nov 27 2005An evil troll with delusions of grandeur and embodies the worst possible human traits: tyranny, oppression, self-serving hypocrisy, and horrendous cruelty to his fellow human beings. He once told Nixon China does not fear an all-out nuclear war because China has too many people! Wow...bet THAT would be something really heart-warming to hear coming out of someone who leads your country!

Sun Apr 24 2005Mao was your typical dictator with a swelled head. He forced his people to sing We love Communist Mao songs-The east is red, the sun is rising. China's Mao Zeodong is born. Here to give us happiness. Our lucky star who saved us all. If that wasn't bad enough, he ruined his country with the Great Leap Forward and Culture Revolution.

Wed Aug 13 2003Can you say Cultural Revolution? Father of modern day education as indoctrination techniques, aka political correctness. His political aims were not completely the same but his totalitarian methods were strikingly similiar. Leftist fascism if you will.

Thu Mar 13 2003Responsible for the deaths of over 70 million of his own people. Mao was tyrannical monster who may have had good intentions for China in the beginning, but let his power overtake him, and it cost China dearly.

Sat Mar 08 2003Gave Stalin a run for his money in terms of killing more of his own citizens. Helped pave the way for Castro and Hussein

Mon Dec 24 2001noah...SELECTIVE gun control! You hear me? SELECTIVE!!! The fact that he was a communist and the fact that he was an advocate of SELECTIVE gun control (that being, he favored gun control for CERTAIN groups of people) had nothing to do with it---he was just a despicable human being. My God, this is worse than REM and Warner Brothers! Mao Tse-tung was just not fit to be a leader, much less a dictator. Quit blaming everything else!

Fri Nov 09 2001Mao's Marxist experiment with China was an outright failure. The Great Leap Forward was a great leap backwards. The collectivization of Chinese farms destroyed the agricultural framework of the country. Production went down in farmlands and millions of people died (the Chinese government refuses to release the exact number of the people who died as a result of this even today). Marxist theory was designed to be implemented in industrialized societies, not agricultural societies like China. Collectivization was more of a Leninist-Stalinist idea which proved disasterous for Russia as well. Marxism did not even work in industrialized countries. The Cultural Revolution destroyed centers of great Chinese thought by intimidating professors, political activists and other people deemed as "elitists." China was put back a century as a result of this brutal dictators' actions. He gets some credit for seizing an opportunity to improve relations with the United States. Mao saw that the geopolitica... Fri Jun 01 2001Worst mass-murderer of the 20th century.

Wed Feb 14 2001Perhaps the greatest butcher in history, responsible for the death of approximately 60 million Chinese. His murderous exploits dwarf those of Adolf Hitler. It is instructive to note that Mao, like all totalitarian dictators, was a strong proponent of gun control. The lesson is inescapable: GUN CONTROL INVARIABLY LEADS TO TYRANNY AND GOVERNMENT OPPRESSION.

Thu Dec 21 2000Nasty, small-minded, evil pervert who only benefited China by helping to drive out the Japanese (which was accomplished with help from forces led by Chiang Kai-Shek, who went on to form the democratic republic of Taiwan).

Thu Dec 02 1999The Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution were a disaster, but China owes a big improvement in GDP, literacy and life expectancy to Mao and the CCP. It's good that he is gone, though.
