Lets just say Manpower is one of the go to staffing agencies for a "computer company". Well this company is moving all their admin jobs to Malaysia. So Manpower has know this is happening. When I wrote a survey regarding this issue of them not finding me any new work even though they know I am being laid off i got a call from a regional VP. She said that there are other jobs but it would be a pay cut. Shouldn't I decide if I will take the pay cut. Then she told me the wages and i stated well thats what I started at and worked my way up. She then asked me how many years I had been with the company....really shouldn't she have looked that up previous to calling me. Lets say i am now looking on my own for other work....STAY AWAY!

Both of the Manpower offices in downtown and west Des Moines are terrible places to work for. The staff are incompetent, the assignments are either to short or for companies that offer terrible work for small pay (thus the reason why said companies use such staffing agencies) :) Manpower also discriminates against the mentally and physically challenged. I would strongly advise against seeking employment through Manpower Inc.

The Manpower office in Owings Mills Maryland is HORRIBLE. They make you take a Drug screening BEFORE the interview and if you don't get the job you have to take another drug screening before any other interview. If you don't get the job they will never bother to call and tell you. Andre who works at the office in Maryland is racist against white people and he tries to prop up his homosexual activities with potential employees. A disgrace of a company and the Manager at this office should be ashamed.

Once upon a time I somehow managed to work for Manpower in the Silicon Valley of California for 3 years. I am now registered again and they haven't changed much since the first time around. Their staff members are still rude and arrogant and you will be blackballed at the drop of a hat! I have dealt with many temp agencies and this one rates one notch above the lowly Labor Ready.

I went to the local job center and was referred to Manpower for recruiting services. After applying with Manpower it took over a month to finally get a response!(even calling in twice a week) After I finally got a response and got all of the paperwork and tests out of the way, I was assigned to a position in manual labor working for $8.00 an hour. This was the same position that paid on the upside of $10.00 - $12.00 an hour... I was told initially that this position would accommodate to my needs as far as working with my schedule for school. I would never have agreed to this position if they weren't able to work with my schedule. After working there for a month, I was notified that the position would not agree to work with my school schedule, and I would have to be let go. After being let go, I filed for unemployment. Then later I received notice that an appeal was made. I lost the case, and was forced to pay for benefits that I would have received had I never worked for Manpower... Read more

Incompetent and rude. Was forced to threaten to sue to finally be paid. Worked 6 weeks at a good assignment that I would have kept if not for Manpower. Even the HQ people were exceedingly rude. If you ever have a problem, remember its your fault, not theirs.

I have come out of my hiatus just to let people know: DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. You will get better deals elsewhere, they will NOT pay well. I was talking to another temp at my job, working the same project, but from a different agency. She was saying how she really didn't need the job, but she needed something to do before her other job started. I laughed and said Yeah, well, I DO need this job, I have bills to pay and I'm trying to move. Too bad this job pays nothing compared to what I have been making. I've held out for a while, but Manpower said that this was all they had. Confused, she asked what I had been making at my previous jobs. Eleven dollars an hour, I replied. Slowly, she replied, . . . that's not all that much different [than what we're making] . . . what are you getting paid? $8.80. She then told me that she was getting paid $10.82 an hour . . . OVER TWO DOLLARS MORE AN HOUR FOR THE SAME POSITION. Sad part is, I actually HAVE over four years experience for ... Read more

If you want to be severely underpaid for excruciating labor-this is the place to apply. They will send you to jobs where you will be expected to do dangerous things that your contract (if you read the fine print)says you are not allowed to do:if you don't refuse, call manpower, and make a stink-and you end up getting hurt,Manpower will not pay for your injuries since you breached your contract.Oh, and they offer you benefits but never assign you enough hours to qualify for them.

We have Manpower in the UK as well, and I didn't find them at all effective. Then again, I have that point of view about most employment agencies when I was desperately looking for a job and was doing everything possible that I could. its stupid. You go in with your CV, have a chat with one of them so they know what you are after and then they don't get in touch with you and you have to chase after them so they get so sick and tired of you, they find you a job just to get you off their back! Galomorro - I hope you have found work, and if you haven't, have you posted your CV onto some job sites online? I had quite a lot of feedback from companies when I did that.

Terrible, lazy bunch of people here. Not only did their machines break down but I was not given decent attention by any of their representatives. These guys are poor, poor, poor when it comes to knowing how to interview jobseekers properly and find them jobs. I would never recommend these people to anyone. They do not appear to have enough workers who know much about recruiting people for jobs; they do not take proper time with jobseekers who come in to take tests and be interviewed. At least this is my opinion and experience as a jobseeker at their downtown San Francisco office.
