I was shooting around with a little guy yesterday who said he is going to the Olympics in Vancouver for his first wish. He was pretty pumped. I know very little about this organization but I think that kind of thing is pretty cool.

Helping children in need is a wonderful thing. Giving money to wealthy families whose children are inevitably going to get better only to gain good press is completely reprehensible. It helps no one. This agency does not seek to help children, but to gain good press.

How can you say anything bad about an organization that grants wishes for kids fighting for their lives?

In 1980 a 7 year old boy with leukemia had a dream of becoming a police officer and a US customs promised him a ride in a helicopter. After contacting a public safety officer, this young man had a tour of the city and a destination to headquarters where cruisers and motorcycle officers greeted him. After a meeting with DPS command staff he was sworn in as the first honorary. John's Uniforms custom-tailored the uniform you see on him in the pic. Later he passed the motorcycle proficiency test with flying colors and received his wings to pin on his uniform. Officer Frank Shankwitz presented Chris Greicius with his wings while he was back in the hospital on May 2nd. His joy was with him at his passing the following day and there's been many joyful experiences for youngsters like him since then. Many thanks to the people who make these wishes come true!

Awesome org. that helps out children who are battling life-threatening diseases by making their life just a little bit better so they won't have to constantly think about going in for treatments, surgeries, etc.

Anyone who thinks this organization is a farce or a bunch of grandstanders or any other pejorative term, I suggest you join them, for one hour, as they do their job. Look into the eyes of the terminally ill child, look at his/her parents, deny the appreciation of every moment they provide. There is no experience on earth quite like it.

Maudlin and ghoulish organization that turns suffering children into freakshow attractions. Seems this retarded outfit is more interested in promoting itself than doing any real good for anyone. Perhaps the money they raise should be sent to children's hospitals to be used to assuage the pain of young terminal patients. Perhaps this sham would better serve the youth of America by aggressively lobbying the government to improve education and health care for our young rather than concocting some fairy tale happy ending for a youngster who, in all honest actuality, isn't going to meet a happy ending after all. Perhaps this charade should be using its resources to empty the orphanages and charity wards of every unwanted child. This is a base, consumerist and insincere mockery of the tens of thousands of children in this country who are in genuine need.

I wholeheartedly support the cause and efforts that this great organization represents. It is so noble to give a dying child something that he has wanted for all of his life.

Yes, I heard all the controversy surrounding this organization when one of their young clients (for lack of a better word) wanted to hunt a grizzly bear in Alaska. But I think Munson said it all - who could give one star to an organization that helps terminally ill children? There should be nothing controversial about giving a suffering youngster something they want, and the MAWF does it for free - uet another plus. I just don't understand how anyone could give an organization like this less than a five. Take care, everyone!

Unless I were to hear some pretty rotten things about the administration of this organization (and I’m happy to say I have not) I can’t get around appreciating the cause here. When you consider how short some children’s lives are due to illnesses, it seems only natural to want to continue to enlarge the ability to give as many as possible a dream come true.

This is an amazing organization. Organizers and volunteers go out of their way to fulfill the wishes of terminally ill children. What better cause it there? Whether the child's wish be to meet an athlete or celebrity, or go on a family vacation..the people at Make-A-Wish make these dreams come true. Definitely a worthwhile organization.

What a wonderful organization! I would happily donate to this foundation. I think it is great that they do something nice for a sick child.I have heard of all the neat things they have done for these kids. SEnd them to Disney World, or meet a favorite celebrity, etc.I like an organization that wants to do a kindess for someone else.and put a smile on a child and their family for awhile.

I think that this a great organization! Most parents would want to do anything for their dying or really sick child! This way they can have what their last wish came true!

This is a great organization. Who wouldn't want to help sick kids? And we're not talking about kids faking being sick to meet Joe Namath like Bobby Brady. These are kids with incurable and fatal diseases who may want something as simple as a new Barbie doll or a vacation to Disney World. The organization brings these kids to athletes and celebrities who spend some of their free time putting smiles on these sick kids faces. It doesn't get much better than that.
