Sat Aug 09 2025Mahatma Gandhi became the main leader of the Indian National Congress. He was the leader of the India's struggle for independence from British rule. He guided India with hid=s own philosophy of non violent protest, called Satyagraha. Gandhi led major movements like the Non-Cooperation Movement (1920–22), the Salt March (1930), and the Quit India Movement (1942). He encouraged Indians to boycott British goods, resist unfair laws, and unite for freedom without violence. but despite his political career, Mahatma Gandhi also worked to end the caste system. He fought against untouchability, promoted women’s rights, supported rural self-reliance, and encouraged harmony between religions. His actions were good for India because they united people across the country, reduced violence in the fight for freedom, and inspired other nations. Gandhi’s leadership helped lay the foundation for India’s democracy and gave the world an example of achieving change through peace.
