Sun Dec 27 2009Smooth as silk without decoration. A romantic comedy of a scotch. Enjoyable. No depth but sometimes who needs depth. You come in from the cold; a welcoming hug from a ski bunny. What's wrong with a ski bunny?

Wed Sep 30 2009A nice multi cask single malt Scotch that is common in most bars. Cant go wrong with a Macallan

Tue Sep 08 2009A great whiskey but confine yourself to four ounces or less. It gives a vicious hangover and your bathroom will smell like a peat bog.

Mon Aug 03 2009Very, very, very good! One word to sum up the Macallan 12 is smoooooooth! I would say that this is a sophisticated scotch for a 12 y.o. Many different flavours combine without one overpowering another. Can be easily sipped neat or with a splash of water is delicious. The 18 is a true classic, but for the money the 12 y.o. is a must. Not my absolute favorite, as Lagavulin 16 has me hooked, but depending on my mood... This would be a great place to start for a novice scotch drinker.

Thu Dec 18 2008Very good, clear smooth and a little smokey taste,a real pure single malt whisky. In my opinion the price is fair 100%. I will give 4 and not 5, only because i prefer more full body malts.

Thu Oct 16 2008I'm not sure how Macallan does it, but the universe of flavours found in this whisky is amazing. To me it's on a different planet compared to some of the other whiskies I like (Dalmore, Highland Park, Laphraoig, etc.) Too bad is price is so much higher.

Tue Apr 29 2008While I generally like a good peaty scotch, the Sherry Cask Macallan provides a completely different range of flavors, all of which are excellent.

Sun Feb 24 2008A good friend introduced me to Macallan a few years ago. I enjoyed it enough to go back for more, but I can only give it a 4 as I have had better. It is clean and crisp on the nose and the pallet, but lacks some of the depth and richness I prefer.

Sun Feb 03 2008I loved it. Macallan's 12 year has a great flavor and has a very smooth finish. My wife usually detests anything whisky, but I managed to get her to try it and actually enjoy it.

Mon Nov 05 2007It's alright, but I'd recommend upgrading to cask strength if going with The Macallan

Sat Aug 18 2007For the money, this is my favourite Whisky, unlike most whiskies, The Macallan has a good start, middle and end, lots of flavour, full bodied, a bit of burn and a warming finish. Other Whiskies in this price arena may beat The Macallan in one area, but The Macallan for me always wins overall. It takes a more expensive Whisky to beat The Macallan 12yo Sherry Cask. My benchmark.

Sat Jul 14 2007This is one of the classic single malts. I can usually find this in a bar so that is another mark in its favor. If I can't think of what to drink, I order this brand. It is tame enough for women who want to try something different than the usual Cosmopolitan or other such junk.

Sat Jul 14 2007There are two Macallan 12 Years, a fact that seems to be skipped over by the other reviewers. One is the "Fine Oak" single malt, which is a delicate, complex Highland style which has a medium body and mostly vanilla notes. The other is the Sherry Oak single malt, which is a richer, darker scotch that has more of a fruit, spice and ginger nose. Both are among the best scotches in this price range and well worth the investment.

Sun May 27 2007Tasty, but at a similar price, you're better off with the Highland Park 12 or one of the Glenlivets.

Fri May 25 2007The standard. Always solid if not spectacular. Sweet sherry flavors with a slight spice and nut finish.

Fri May 25 2007A smooth whisky that in my opinion is up there with the best!! But then again having Scottish blood in me, you will know that no other whiskeys compare. (Although I will always give them a try!!!) One thing to notice about Scottish whisky is, the word whisky is spelt differently. (Whisky-Scotland and Whiskey-other countries.) Try looking the next time you go to a liquor store!! My favorite is Glenfiddich, a wonderful single malt whisky. (but thats me!!!LOL)

Fri Apr 20 2007I think this is an okay scotch, but I actually prefer both the Balvenie 10 year and the Glenlivet 15 year to this. Maybe it will grow on me.

Sat Feb 11 2006The smoothest of the scotches that I have tasted so far...

Fri Nov 05 2004Greatest tasting Scotch with a hint of Oak flavor. Delicious!

Fri Nov 05 2004When you drink this wisky you will know were the extra money went. A CLASSIC 12yr. in its own right and a great entry-level-model for the Macallen name.

Fri Aug 08 2003The sherry-oak casks really set this scotch apart from the others. This is among the very best single malts and far superior to the blended whiskies.

Sat Jun 14 2003I agree that there are better versions of this classic whisky, but how could one give another rating than 5 for one of the best whiskies. If a Johnny Walker Red Label gets a 1, how could anybody reasonably giver somethin else than a 5 for this excellent Speyside malt?

Mon Apr 21 2003Any serious Scotch Drinker would prefer the 18 year old version. For some reason I prefer the 10 year old version to the 12, but the 12 is okay.

Mon Feb 10 2003Not as good as the 18 year old version, but an excellent substitute at a more friendly price.
