I am new to Indianapolis and fretted over where to get my haircut...I had driven by Lush the art of hair several times and decided to try it! It was no trouble getting an appointment...I called on a Friday and got in on Tuesday. The receptionist was very friendly and offered me tea/water while I waited for my treatments to begin. The eyebrow wax was an experience in itself...a seemingly painful procedure was actually pleasurable... After my eyebrows were nicely waxed (3 weeks later they are still perfect), Danita took me back for my haircut. I showed her pictures and told her about my hair...she listened very well and gave me her thoughts too. Then she gave me an amazing scalp massage using some Kerastase products. Long story short...she was so friendly, helpful, and obviously talented...I LOVE MY HAIRCUT! I will be going back to see her for sure and I look forward to it...

I just have to share it with the world..this is the best salon in town! I mean everything from the front desk gal greeting me with a big smile and asking to take my coat and offering me this amazing Tea(fantastic by the way) to the great Stylist (Danita) who ...well all I can say is I have been to a lot of salon in hopes to find someone who can understand the complexity of my wavy hair and she nailed it...it has never been so manageable and behaved so well and the Kerastase products I just love how they make my hair feel! Oh and I forgot to mention the great scalp massage they do...out of this world...you just have to go and experience this place for yourself! Every one there is very knowledgeable on products ...I of course had lots of questions about hair & skin products and between Danita and the front desk gal they were able to get products to help me in both of my areas of concern and I just have to say they were right on with their recommendations I love all the products I bought ... My hair was extremely thinned out in the front. I also had a small bold spot in the back. I went to Lush Hair Salon, and Danita was able to look at me, and recommend something in my budget. After the process, which took around 4 hours, I looked amazing. My husband was so happy when I got home, we had a great night that night, if you know what I mean. My coworkers were shocked how great I look. Thanks so much, I am a new woman, I can't thank you enough.

I've been getting blonde highlights and my haircut all over this city for the past 6 years, jumping from salon to salon to find the right balance of talent/cost. Usually they do mediocre to good job the first time around, which grows out into something unexpectedly horrible and then they can't make anything good of it come the second time around (and they don't even know it!) And it goes downhill from there. Lush breaks the mold, by far. I have never received the amount of compliments on my hair as I do when I get it done there. I was even getting compliments 12 weeks after I had last been! My highlights lasted an incredible 16 weeks without looking horrendous (I kind of like the dark contrast, but also have naturally light hair). They had to do major damage control of cleaning up a horrible last haircut (too many uneven, short/long contrasting layers in my long hair) and fixing a golden/orange tone job from the previous stylist. They did this and so much more. The blonde was matched p... Read more

Be sure to read the negative review because I 100% agree with the service staff ratings about being rude and putting out poor work. I probably could have gone to a Fantasic Sams and got the same quality of work. I read all the 5 star reviews before scheduling appt at Lush. Boy was I fooled..now after reading them they sound alike, perhaps the owner/staff write good reviews. I was not pleased with the services I recieved and wish good luck to others and if you know any good hair salons in indy please mssg me with your suggestions because I will never go back to Lush, they made my hair look like a wet mop.

I first learned about Lush because I live right down the street. I had a stylist for several years and my very close girlfriend cuts/colors hair, however, I thought about trying Lush because of the convenience. I am a VERY picky customer with a head of hair that is not easy to manage.... very thick, long and wavy with color and highlights. When I first went, I was very nervous because I am not the type to switch hairstylists very often. Danita, the owner, was very welcoming, personable and professional. She then referred me to Sasha, the colorist/stylist, and the rest was history. Sasha did a FANTASTIC job on my hair from the get-go. She provided me with an entire color correction, beautiful highlights and a perfect hair cut and blow-dry. The cost was extremely reasonable. I have since gone to this salon weekly for blow-drys and my hair lasts an entire week!! Sasha has maintained my color and cuts ever since. She is very "up" on the trends and provides great advice when I want a change... Read more

Salon owner was quite rude over the phone but I gave it a shot...was not happy with my service, they charge your credit card whether you like the service or not. Even if you need to cancel your appointment within 24hrs you will get charged for a service. I wish I had that luxury in my office to charge my clients if they need to cancel. This salon is highly overrated and overpriced I will continue to look elsewhere and I suggest you do the same.

Sasha cut my hair and made it look amazing! I have never enjoyed a trip to the salon as much as this one! Everyone was super friendly the moment I walked in the door and so helpful!!!! Sasha asked me what I was thinking in the way of a style and since I didn't have a clue she gave me some suggestions and asked my opinion before she actually cut anything...which is always good :)! I was VERY happy with the outcome and so I have signed her up to do my hair (and make up) for my wedding! YAY!!! So I know that my hair/make up will look absolutely fabulous!!! THANK YOU!!!! I will be back soon!!!

I was searching for a new stylist as i just came back from Sarasota, came across this salon and read the reviews and the fine print...where does this salon get off charging full price of service if you miss or late to your appt? I have never heard of such nonsense...if they are as busy as they claim to be I am sure they will have other clients to fill in canceled appts. ... It was pretty annoying signing up for citysearch just to write a review, but this place was WORTH IT! I usually visit a top end salon in Chicago, but needed a haircut BAD and wasn't sure where to go. I saw all the great reviews about this place, and they were right! I travel around the world year round and this place was the best I've been to in a LONG time. They have cutting edge style, which is what I wanted, since I too often wind up looking like a "suburbia soccer mom" with many salons. They did exactly what I wanted and made it better; I've never been happier with a cut! And the PRICE! BEST in town for such skill. I will definitely go back there whenever I'm in town and would suggest anyone looking for a great salon with people who know what they are doing, to try these ladies out.

When I moved from the heart of LA to a little town in Indiana I was terrified about being able to find the right stylist. I am extremely picky about how I like my hair; I need a stylist who is skilled enough in her own vision to create something I would never dream of, but still open to my needs. I researched reviews and saw this place rated highly so decided to try it out. I was amazed! For a fraction of the price I received a truly professional hair cut. I am a perfectionist, but they were patient in assuring every part of my hair was exactly the way I wanted it before leaving. They did a great job of creating a new style and helping me change my look, while still listening carefully to me to be sure I was satisfied. I am so relieved to have found such an amazing salon! Try it, you will not regret it

I had to get my hair fixed at DL Lowry for the work I had done at Lush. My stylist was very nice but when I had my hair pulled back you could see my roots 3 days after I had it done. I called but never heard back. The manager would not fix the mistake. Glad to know I just threw my money away there when I just had to get it redone. It is a rip off. I recommend DL Lowry, it is on 86th too just down a little past the Fashion Mall near the Target. I had a great stylist. He said that since the color and highlights were done the same time that it bleed and didn't fully process and I had alot of red in my hair because of it. He said that he could see that Lush had not gone all the way to the roots and had skipped sections. While my new/corrected highlights were getting processed I had a complimentary massage as well. I have told all my friends about my experience at Lush and they said they had the same problem with leaving messages and not getting called back. So if you want to go... Read more

I cannot recommend Lush highly enough. I came into Indianapolis on business and had numerous options for hair and makeup in the city. However, many of the places came with an attitude, poor customer service, and ridiculously high prices. I'm from the NorthEast, so I am used to high prices, but I also want excellent quality without a pretentious demeanor. Danita (the owner) is extremely skilled as a makeup artist and Sasha (one of the stylists) did a wonderful job with a blow-out for my (very long) hair. Allie spent a good deal of time on the phone with me prior to my visit politely and accurately answering my numerous questions. The staff were all welcoming and personable, and quite attentive. Parking is ample and the location is convenient to the area (where I was staying). I am extremely particular and highly recommend this salon. I do not do that lightly but I want out-of-towners especially to know that this place is definitely the best option around.

First, I must admit I AM "that" customer that most salons fake a smile to see because I have learned to express dissatisfaction after paying $200 for coloring/cuts that stylists pretended to like on me-but that my family and friends had to tell me looked AWFUL!! After years of leaving salons (from New York to LA) unhappy with the results, I began to believe that what I had been asking stylists to do REALLY was impossible. Sadly, I have also become used to people who find the easiest, cheapest, fastest way to make a buck with no regard for taking pride in the work they do. Luckily, I remained unsatisfied with all the pricey color "experiments" I paid top dollar for in the past and brought my search here--where I read all the + reviews @ THIS PLACE and took a chance! After living all over the US, having my hair done in MANY (an understatement at best) high priced, top rated salons AND paying over $300/visit I can confidently say this was by far the BEST salon I have encountered bar none... It is very important to me to relax while I have my hair done it is a personal getaway. I noticed that as a guest from the moment I walked in. Most of the clientele there are interested in three specific services, hair color, hair extensions and hair replacement. I must say that I also loved my haircut, now I can manage my hair myself! But I like to go back for blow-outs because this salon offers all of the pampering luxuries that even the most spoiled diva would enjoy. But the difference here is that the laid back, very friendly staff makes everyone fell like they have stepped onto pedestals for the day. There are three different ranks of hair stylists. In my opinion I cannot classify the difference between them, they all are gentle and high skilled. Danita knows how to train them. They are superb in everything they do. This really is an oasis in Indianapolis; Congratulations Danita and being voted the top hair salon in Indiana by Elle Magazine! Really the best hair colorist and hair ... Read more

I feel really guilty that I haven't gotten my act together to get this review posted sooner, because Danita White isn’t just an amazing professional hair stylist and colorist, she’s also proven to be a good friend to all those who are lucky enough to experience her at Lush The Art of Hair. I found her through CitySearch a couple of years ago and even now that I’ve relocated to Chicago, I won’t ever let anyone else touch my hair – Danita’s that brilliant, especially for dishwater blondes like me! If you haven't already heard through the grapevine, Lush does THE BEST work creating multi-dimensional, long-lasting and natural-looking blonde highlights in all Indy. (I think she works privately with a roster of celebrities, but she’s pretty cagey about that.) In the decade I’ve been in Indiana, I’ve tried out pretty much every big-name hair stylist imaginable searching to recreate the healthy, natural-looking blonde of my youth from the bleach-out, sun/salt/chlorine damaged locks my active l... My visit recently was to see Danita, who not only is the owner, but also a stylist. It took me a bit to get in with her because she is booked months out. However, from me leaving my number with the receptionist to call if there was an opening, I was able to get in sooner. From my initial consultation on my hair and what I wanted, yes she actually talked with me before she even touched my hair, I could see why she was so busy. Very professional and not hesitant to let me know what my hair needed to be and stay healthy. She didn't try to over sell me product that I didn't need. Of the product that I did end up purchasing, the use and direction of how and when to use it was explained in detail. I was informed that if I had any questions after I left, to just call. That's reassuring to know that once I leave, I’m still welcome to call with questions or any concerns. This was told to me not only from Danita, but the receptionist as well. As I was waiting for my hair to process, I noticed ... Read more

I also went to this salon to get hair extensions but i was pulled in by the good reviews of this place. I got my color done first, which was really great and done by lexy ( she did a great job). The second day i went to get my extensions, it started out great but then turned out bad after i had to sit for eight hours which was only supposed to be 4 maybe 6 at the longest. What was worse as well is that my family was to pick me up based on the time they told me and Danita had no consideration for that as well as she was rude to my oldest daughter as well as my boyfriend. Also by that time she had pulled my hair soooo much that by that time by scalp was soooo sore that towards the end she asked me if she wanted me to have her stop and acted like i was the bad person because she was hurting me. She on top of that wanted me to sit an additional two hours and said to me that "well you had more hair than what we thought and we aren't charging you for the excess hair" like that was my f... I went to this salon with my hopes high, since they had such great reviews. I have to tell you the reviews were good, but nowhere near as good as my experience at this salon! They started my session with a consultation on what I wanted and what I was looking at for the future of my hair. Then showed me a couple realistic ways to style my hair-which no one has ever done. I then got the most amazing shampoo ever. Then commenced the cut that is the most amazing cut I have ever had in my life! I was basically speechless when they finished, my hair looked great. She continued the education throughout the cut and explained to me what she was doing and the benefits of her doing it. This salon is amazing! I will for sure being going back-CUSTOMER for LIFE! The entire staff at this salon is extremely professional! I love it!

I am a crazy person about my hair. I have been to over 10+ salons in my life time and I have always felt like my hair could look better. I would do searches online in the Indy area and try to go to the Top Rated Salons. I would always be disappointed by the cut, color, or "better then you service" which I would then hate to go back no matter if i kind of liked it. Lush Salon was recommended to me and I figured I would give it a shot. I have been going there for over a year now and have recommended the salon to over 12 people who have had services there and all come out saying the same thing "my hair has never looked this good", no matter what type of hair they have. The staff and atmosphere is so welcoming for this high end salon. I go to Sasha who is fabulous and amazing at cut and color. I have never stopped so many times on the street asking "where do you go"? I wanted to write a review about another service I had done there which has made my "hair" life so much easier. I had the K... Read more

I found Lush after working my way through a number of (bad) stylists at various equally bad broad ripple salons. The first time I visited I had a horrible color job and was pretty cynical, thinking I would never find someone that could get it right. They listen to what you want, consider the essentials like facial structure and skin tone, and give you suggestions. The result? Fabulous color that compliments your face and makes you love your hair (perhaps after a long history of frustration!). Everyone in the salon has been friendly, fun, and provide great service in a relaxed atmosphere. You can tell the staff enjoys what they are doing. I have ridiculously thick hair that can be unruly and time-consuming - I've never felt rushed or pressured. Also, after going to many a salon where I get hounded to buy their products - I've never felt sales pressure at Lush - which is nice! So...get yourself over...you won't be disappointed!

I have short hair and struggle to find a great stylist who consistently creates a great cut. I have been with Danita for several years now after going to stylist after stylist. I could never get the right cut or color. The cut would either be bulky or frumpy. The color to bleachy. Danital is PERFECT. I am a mom, so never want to feel frumpy. She always cuts my hair to fit my style, even when we switch it up a bit. You know a good stylist when you can air-dry and it looks cute! She also does amazing color. My hair has highlights that never seem to look obvious when they grow out. AND, she styled my hair when I got married several years back, and does an awesome job with that too! Needless to say, she better never leave Indy!!

I used to live in Chicago and see the same stylist for years. It took me a long time to find her and when I did, I was a loyal customer for years. I vowed never to have anyone else touch my hair. Well, two years ago I moved to Carmel but continued to travel to Chicago to see her even though it took 4.5 hours out of my day. I’m a fashion model and a cheerleader for the Colts and several girls on the squad recommended Lush so I finally came to my senses and decided try someone new. Believe me, I had anxiety pains about trying someone new, but it turned out to be a GREAT experience! I met with one of their stylists, and she gave me a fantastic cut and style. She was friendly and easy to get along with, but most importantly, she gave me exactly what I asked for and I AM LOVING MY HAIR! I have been a client of Danita's for years-she is amazing. I saw the "no go" review and I just had to comment. I was there getting my hair done when this girl came in and that is NOT what happened. She had an attitude from the time she walked in. She said "no one in Indpls has been able to make her happy" She said she wanted the gold out of her ends and she "better not see any gold when she leaves or she will not be happy" Sasha was very sweet and patient. She looked at her hair and told her it was very dry and that she was not comfortable running anything through her ends because her ends were so dry. She also told her she could not guarantee that she would not see ANY gold since her natural hair was so dark. Sasha was patient and honest and then let the client make a choice. She chose to leave. This salon is very honest, professional, and all the stylists are very talented. Don't listen to her.

Every single one of the stylist at this salon are extremely talented in their craft. They take the time to consult with and really listen to their clients in order to provide the best service and care possible for their client's needs. I've been going to this salon for a few years and just about every single time I've stepped out of there, someone has stopped me in the street to compliment me on my hair and or ask where did I get my hair done. I have recommended several people and they too have enjoyed their experiences at Lush. They can pretty much accomplish any look your going for and if you have no clue as to what look you want rest assured that your in great hands because they can give you a look that fits your everyday life style /grooming needs and still make you look fab-u-lous. I was not exactly sure what I wanted and she did a great job of helping me narrow it down. It looked exactly how I thought it would. My hair looks fabulous. I am from New York and it is difficult to get a cutting edge look. I've never been super wowed with a haircut but for the first time I was like "I LOVE IT". I had an idea in my head what I wanted my hair to look like and Sasha cut it perfectly. She asked questions - how much maintence I wanted, what products I use - to give me the appropriate style. Plus, the cost was totally reasonable. I've been highlighting my black hair with L'oreal highlighting kits since I was a teen. But after a disastrous series of haircuts (I left my regular stylist and was flitting around) I didn't want to take any chances with hair color. I just wanted everything to go well. I was reading about Lush and their color wizardry in Elle Magazine, and I thought I'd give them a chance. What can I say? Charming, low-key, respectful. They looked at all the pictures I brought, told me what they thought would look right given what I wanted (trust me ? it was a tall and complicated order), and presto, change-o, I looked amazing afterward. This place is professional. Trust me. I've been to them all.

Certainly not this place.

I have been seeing Lexy at Lush Salon now for over a year. The service is spectacular. My color is always looks great and every time I see her I learn something new about taking care of my hair. In the 20+ years of getting my hair done this is the best so far. Danita the manager has established a very good team of stylists. I am also addicted to the Kerastase products that are sold at the salon. Most high-end salon carry products that cost almost as much as the service, not so at Lush. I am always greeted with a smile and the checkout is very pleasant.

I have been to Paris, Italy, Germany, and a few other European countries; I also have been wearing extensions from around the world for 4 years. Until this year, while in the Colts owner Jim Esays suite at the new stadium ; I could always tell when another woman was wearing extensions! I saw this blond model being photographed for a national magazine and I thought to myself "damn her for that gorgeous hair, and here I am paying $1,500 for mine." Later that evening I saw her again, and this time I had to ask "What do you to your hair?" She replied "Honey, I have Hair extensions." I gasped and out of shock and disbelief!!! I could NOT tell even while touching her hair! Like a crazy woman, I flipped my hair back and showed her my "Finger rows" as we laughed through it. She was Miss Indiana USA and gave me a card for her stylist at Lush Salon. The next day, at the office I goggled "Miss Indiana USA" and much to my surprise on her website was a link to Lush, and on top of that she was a... Read more

This was hands-down the WORST salon experience I have ever had. I REALLY wish I would have read more of the negative reviews, because they are really spot-on. Don't get caught up in the hype like I did. I was so excited about my appointment, I really thought this experience would be great. Umm....WRONG. While I was waiting 15 minutes for my stylist, I decided to peruse their makeup testers. As soon as I applied some lipstick to my hand to see the color, the receptionist came over and took it out of my hand and haughtily told me they would prefer me to use a swab...ok, totally embarrassing, but whatever. So my stylist Sasha finally gets me in a chair and does a brief consult. Then she handed me over to Lauren who proceeded to wash my hair and give me a scalp massage, which was ok, but overall I was in the shampoo bowl for TWENTY FIVE MINUTES because my stylist was still with her client and it was like they pretended this was all a part of the experience...more on that later. So Sasha... Read more

I was very nervous looking for a new stylist and color specialist, but Lush came highly recommended. It was reassuring to know that Elle Magazine ranked Lush one of the top 100 hair salons in the country in the August 09 issue. They listened very carefully to what I wanted and the results are over the top. I've never had a better cut and color... EVER! The calming ambience of the salon (no kids!!) is icing on the cake!
