Forgot about this spot because of all the new fab restos in town. But went back recently and had a spot on lunch. Everything was just great and we got a killer deal (50% off!) by following them on twitter. I was very impressed with the mac & cheese, salads and especially the deserts. I will go back and i must remember to remember Luna Park as a viable dinner option too!

I live a few blocks away so I end up at Luna Park a few times a month (it is a 5 minute walk). Most of the food is consistently good but a little overpriced. My favorite item on the menu is the tuna poke. Aviod the S'mores for dessert ... I've made better s'mores in my microwave.

Just bad food. OK place. Bad food. Cheap though. If it was this or pretty much any other place I would go there first.

So sad what has happened at Luna Park throughout the few years of its existence. They kept (keep) changing chefs, staff, managers, dishes, on a regular basis, until all the magic disappeared. The place apparently can still have a good atmosphere but the charm is gone - the delicious plates at great prices, and the full, chic crowd are a distant memory. Pizza and burgers? Really? Sandwiches and Salad Nicoise? Are you kidding? Sure the salad has been there from day one, but that should have been the first thing to go, not the fried trout or the truffle oil ravioli. There are so many places like the present Luna Park, I'm certainly not going out of my way to La Brea and Wilshire for a regular burger / boring fare, and over-priced drinks. Those are a dime a dozen in LA. "Sorry Luna Park, you had it once and I loved you so much that I gave you try after try during change after change - and now you're just another joint. Special no more. Good luck with your future endeavors."

Amazing tonight! We ordered from the prix-fixe menu and the food was perfect. It was crowded but the staff made sure we were taken care of. They manager Trey was very accommodating and our server Silvie gave us impeccable service. I will definitely be returning.

After waiting for a table for 1 hour and 15 minutes we have finally decided to go else where, oh and we had a reservation. Beyond rude hostess didn't offer any excuses for the wait and never even approached us to let us know that the table is coming in however long (honey you're just a hostess, you can give up the attitude). The manager was clueless to what was going on in his restaurant. Extremely unprofessional in his appearance he wasn't able to solve a situation and just walked away. I find it ridiculous when restaurant staff have no idea what they are doing.

i've been here before and it's fine foodwise, but i will seriously never set foot in this place again after what happened to us last night.... it was crowded and they were overwhelmed which happens... i get it. but when you have a reservation for 9pm for 4 people i expect to be seated sometime within that timeframe (+/- 20 mins). at around 10:15 we still had not been seated and there was no appology or even any acknowledgment that anything was wrong with the situation. i understand that restaurants get busy, but it's how you deal with the situation that counts. it was seriously like talking to a brick wall. i guess that's what you get when you hire teenage girls that don't take their job seriously to be the hostess.

I'm not usually one to write a bad review since I'm a foodie and generally make the most of any dining experience...however, my experience last night at Luna Park was horrendous. I was in with some girlfriends having dinner and drinks. We sat at the bar and the bartender was so rude and lacking in personality that upon leaving, I mentioned it to the person at the door. I simply said, thinking he'd want to know, that the bartender was extremely unpersonable and rude. He apparently went and told the bartender what I'd said b/c while waiting for valet, the bartender came running out at me, got IN MY FACE yelling "did you say something about my personality?!". I replied that I'd mentioned that he was very "quiet" to the man at the door, to which he responded "FU** YOU. Thanks for the tip and don't ever come back to my bar!" We had just spent $200 on food and drinks at this place and whoever was managing has the nerve to allow the bartender to come out and verbally assault me?!!!! I ... Read more

In Short At night, the lofty space is an intimate, bohemian den with crimson-colored walls and candles on every dark-wood table. But heavy gold curtains and kitschy crystal chandeliers hanging from the rafters create a dramatic effect even in daylight. Helpful, unpretentious servers keep the Bay Area vibe alive while the menu spotlights simply prepared comfort cuisine with a creative edge. Smooth goat-cheese fondue with grilled bread and crisp green apples for dipping is wildly popular. A light, lemony vinaigrette spruces up the sweet and savory salad of spinach, dried currants and feta. For entrees, a crispy-fried pork cutlet stuffed with Gruyere cheese is satisfying and hearty, sided by a mound of mashed potatoes. The lighter fontina ravioli swims in a buttery sauce touched with truffle oil. Make-your-own s'mores, constructed out of homemade graham crackers, molten bittersweet chocolate and marshmallow, are a playful and satisfying way to end the meal.

I normally don?t like to write bad reviews, but here is one. The calamari was cold and tough, not edible at all. The cobb salad was $14 for a small plate, not even aesthetically pleasing. No ham, the avocado was dangerously and eerily light green with no taste, and the bleu cheese was the cheap stuff you get in Smart and Final. On the positive side, a small smoking patio/eating area where I got to enjoy the blissful break in the obsequious California heat with a friend while on our way to see a movie.

I used to love Luna Park. My friends disliked the prices and noise factor, but I always enjoyed the food and service there. Until tonight. Luna Park has sent me email notifications regarding their Blue Plate Specials (entrees between $10-12), so tonight I went to check it out. As soon as we ordered the blue plate special, our server's demeanor changed instantly. He totally ignored us, in spite of our several attempts to flag him down as he walked to every single table surrounding our table. Finally, he stopped, looked at me, and then WALKED AWAY FROM ME MID-SENTENCE. This is unacceptably rude! Especially when I was saying that I would like to see the menu again to order more food!!! If a restaurant is going to promote a budget special on slow nights of the week, then its waiters should not treat you like a pariah just because you actually order the special. I used to eat here fairly regularly, but I'm not going back for a long time. The food itself was okay for the price... Read more

The food is always good, but what's especially outstanding about this place is the service!!!! The staff go out of their way to make sure you are happy with your experience... and this has consistently been the case each and every time I've visited. Fun place to go for lunchtime if you want a convivial atmosphere... it gets packed, so be prepared to take a little extra time and maybe enjoy a little cocktail before you head back to the office!

By far, one of the best places in LA to have great cocktails, fantastic food, beautiful crowd and very reasonable price. I will go back soon. These days most restaurants in LA with the same quality of food and ambience would cost 3 times more than Luna Park. Good job....keep it up!!!

like everything about this place. the decor's great, lighting's great, service was great (by a friendly/involved/attractive server), and the crowd was young, hip, &appropos... even the recommended dishes & drinks by the server turned out to be great. but you might want to sit on top of your coat or sweater b/c the wooden seats will make that (hard) bum of yours hurt after a while.

I've been here a few times and I've got to say it is the best restaurant in town. I've consistently had wonderful service and excellent food. It's delicious good ol' down to earth American food and I love it. I love the chargrilled chicken and the brussel sprouts it comes with (I know, right). It's not in the heart of a big social scene or anything, but the quality of dining here far outweighs any restaurant that is. The mac n cheese is also very good, you can tell they use real cheddar and not packets of fake low quality cheese. Mmm my mouth is watering now, I'm in need of a Luna Park fix.

Went here last night for a friends' birthday. The four of us who arrived early sat at the bar, and the bartender (don't remember his name) was great. The drinks were excellent and despite the fact that he was very busy he was attentive to us. But when the rest of our party (9 people) showed up the waitress Briana was HORRIBLE!!! It was at least 15 minutes before she even came to get our drink order. It was late and she was not busy by the time we left but despite this fact she dropped the check and then completely vanished! After waiting 15-20 minutes, I fionally had to go to the bar and ask to pay my bill! It was another waitress who ran our credit cards. And she included an 18% tip. Normally, as someone who waitressed for many years, I tip at least 20%, but I wouldn't have left this lazy b*tch a penny. We should have just walked out - that b*tch deserved it. The food is good, but not good enough to make up for the completely HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!

This place used to be fabulous but it is now going down hill, They're always changing the menu, the service is horrible, rude waiters and slow service. It takes almost an hour to get a plate. And don't bother making a reservation on the weekends because you'll still have to wait an hour to get seated....

Fabulous! So far my favorite place in L.A. Everything on the menu was great, service was Impeccable. $15 for Yellowtail in a great deal! Took my sister for her birthday, they brought out a surprise dessert more fun than Chuck E. Cheese for an 8-year-old. Can't wait to go back. I can sum it up in 2 words........ GOOD S**T!

Totally different experience compared to the other place I reviewed while I was visiting my brother. We had a great time. Sadly, I cannot say this for everywhere I ate in LA. We started at the bar and were waited on by a great bartender who made a good stiff drink, I think her name was Laura. When the rest of our friends showed up we were sat in a booth and greeted right away by our server. She was very down-to-earth and didn't mind that we had a million questions. We never asked her name but my friends called her Madonna and she didn't seem to mind that either. We got a lot of great recommendations from her, including wine and drinks (#1 the Strawberry Martini w/ Basil in it...sounds weird but it's a great combination). People checked on us from time to time but not bothersome to us. My only critiques are that it was too loud and the pizza was only so/so. The fact that it seems to be highlighted on the menu made me think it was a speciality. However, the salads and other entrees w... Read more

I went to Luna Park for my birthday last year. I had a group of 9 which was accommodated quite easily. The server (a lady) was friendly and attentive. Some of our group may have been less than easy to deal with. The Mojitos are the best I've ever had!! I hate rum and the server suggested them... so between her and the rave reviews I've heard about them, I tried it ....and they were so good I had 2. ( I'm normally a citron on the rocks type of chick) Try the delicious goat cheese fondue and the chocolate fondue. So, all went well with I don't think a single entree mix-up issue. I made reservations and I would suggest the same for anyone... it was a wednesday night, nonetheless to be sure.

I'd heard good things about Luna Park, and was excited to try it. I'd just had a baby and someone offered to babysit so I really was looking forward to getting out. What a disappointment. We went for lunch on a Sat. afternoon and when we walked in, there was no hostess. Finally someone saw us and sat us. The waitress was VERY nice and friendly, but really spacey. First I ordered a diet coke (overpriced) and ti tasted terrible, so I asked for another, thinking I got the wrong thing. She brough me another, which tasted awful as well, and then she told me it was Diet Rite, not Diet Coke. For $3, I think they could afford Diet Coke. Then I ordered the grilled chicken sandwhich and got chicken salad. At this point, I felt bad about the soda runaround, so I didn't say anything. The chicken salad was good, but nothing to rave about. I make the same thing in my kitchen at home. The place was not crowded at all - yet our waitress was no where to be seen. To be fair, when she was wa... Read more

You can always count on Luna Park when you're craving comfort food, but still want to go to a nice restaurant. Such a great place to meet with friends. Getting a booth is ideal, as the tables can be a little cramped. I highly recommend the mac and cheese. YUM.

I went here the other night and I had a great time! Everyone who works here was very friendly and polite. The mojitos were great... I have them everywhere in LA and these were some of the best. The goat cheese fondue is really yummy (albiet a little small) and the make your own smores were a lot of fun. They have some fun, funky food which is what I liked about this restaurant. For my entree I had the ribs, which were not anything to write home about, but I think I just ordered the wrong thing. I would definitely go back though!

REPOST: I went there the other night for the first time with a friend I have not seen for a long time. We were sat right away by a polite hostess (dark hair with a big smile), always a great thing to see from the start. Then our server (long red hair, smiley) was prompt and there when we needed her but not pushy. We wanted to catch up and may have overstayed our welcome but never felt that way, she even got into our conversation and seemed interested in what we were talking about. A woman who might be the owner (dark curly haired girl) stopped by to check on us and had a very warm and welcoming energy. Everything was wonderful, the food, drinks, people. To top it all off when we left we forgot our doggie bag and our sweet server tracked us down outside to give it to us. This is a place worth checking out.

I live a few blocks from this little jewel but have never tried it until now. I went last night and sat at the bar and had a fantastic meal for a great price. I ordered the artichoke to start which was great...then the fish for dinner which was even better...my friend ordered the burger which was average?.but the french fries were amazing. I ordered sangria from the extremely friendly bartender and I thought it was way to sweet so I asked him if I could change it to wine and he was more than happy to and even treated me to the glass.....I won't mention his name so he does not get in trouble. But I had a fun time and the food was great! They had a nice and inexpensive wine list. Give it a try!

We arrived at 8pm on Friday with no reservations. I was happy they were able to seat us at all but we had to wait for 30 minutes at the bar. The bartenders were great, we had some appitizers and the very good mojitos. Once seated dinner was great and service was very good, although we liked the bartender better. A great place to turn dinner into an evening out.

I last had dinner at Luna Park about a year ago and had a great time. My returned last night and had one of the best meals I have had since moving back to Los Angeles this year. The service was great, our server wanted nothing more then to make sure we were happy and made great suggestions and was at the table every time we need her. I have never posted before - I wanted to thank Luna Park for such a great evening.

We got there around 12:15 and were promptly seated by a very nice hostess. We were then greeted by a waitress that one could tell was absolutely hating life. She had no personality, was not the least bit pleasant and when I asked her about the highly recommended mojitos all she said was, "yeah." I ordered one anyway and we started with the goat cheese fondue with sliced green apples and grilled bread. I was a little apprehensive about it because I am not a huge fan of goat cheese and neither is my boyfriend but we were not sorry when we tasted it. It was delicious. The grilled bread was also really fresh, lightly buttered and with perfect grill marks. The mojito arrived and was a little too sweet for me but had a good bite in the after taste. I took a few sips and then gave it to my boyfriend because after awhile it was just too much mint and lime. For the entree I had to chicken BLT with fries and my boyfriend had the Cobb salad. I was recently there for my sister's birthday with my family. It was definitely NOT a place for family dining- especially with parents. It was very loud, crowded, and dark- I had to read the menus for my parents, we could barely see the food (couldn't see any colors). The service was just okay. The food overall- we tried 5 different dishes- was pretty dissappointing considering all the hypes and raves about this restaurant. Some dishes were too dry and burnt- we could all taste it. My sister swallowed a chunk of butter from the Seabass dish. Most of the sides were all potatoes, potatoes- everywhere.... same.... Before I went to Luna Park, I check their website and read it was French/Italian with American n Asian twist, BUT we all agreed that it was nothing like Italian or French. I guess you can call it just American? Anyway, I had to put up with all negative comments form my family members since I booked the restaurant. We used to love this place...the food was great, the drinks were terrific, and the ambiance made it a perfect date place. The last 2 times we went were very disappointing: both our dishes were on the beyond-salty side, my mojito (once delicious!) was practically all ice, and they've packed so many tables in that it makes it hard to get around. One of these last times was for the prix-fixe menu for Valentine's and we were so disappointed. The food was only so-so and it was all so overpriced, but I guess that's for most places on V-day. I'll probably go back hoping that it gets better, but in the meantime, I won't hold my breath.

In a town where seemingly all good food comes with a high price tag, I was really impressed with Luna Park which offers great food at reasonable prices. I went with a group people and everyone loved their food, which is the first time we have all agreed on a restaurant! One downfall: The six of us (all couples) were placed in a booth, which made the seating arrangements a bit awkward. Service was also a bit slow. Other than that it was truly a memorable occasion. Make sure to make a reservation!

Went on a Saturday night and it was totally crazy!! So crowded. We made a reservation, but still it took an hour to seat us!!! There's barely any room to stand around inside. Once we sat down it took even longer to get a drink order in and then actually get the drinks. I do have to say the after placing our food order the appetizers and main courses did arrive rather quickly...The corndog apps and curried pork satay were pretty tasty...I had the flank steak...which for $15 (ish) is a pretty good deal...if...the plate wasn't mostly pilled with french fries! The steak was sooo tiny. My friend had their cheeseburger which was prettty delicious. By the time we were done with our meals after the wait and pounding music and noisiness, we were so over the place we wanted to leave...so we never tried the desert (which i hear are yummy! oh well)!!

We've eaten here a few times, most recently last friday night (Dec. 15th). The service was a little eratic (slow to get us drinks, slow to get food orders, but the food arrived super fast). The food was good, my wife had the wild boar rogatoni, with a side of brussels sprouts, I had the flank steak. The rigatoni and the brussels sprouts were fabulous. My steak was good, a tad tough. My fries were just right. The other really nice thing about Luna Park is they have a nice, small wine list which is priced well. We had a Ridge wine for $35, which would at most places be over $50. We aren't mixed drink people, but I have heard their mixed drinks are great also. The place can be very busy on friday and saturday nights, reservations are a good idea. The place can also be a bit noisy. We enjoy eating there and will definitely return again.

Other cities have corner stores and neighborhood restaurants. LA just has high end restaurants and taco stands. I'd say Luda Park is one of the closer things to a neighborhood joint. I had a good but not particularly memorable dinner there a few months back. Everything was good, but not great. Most memorable was the make-your-own smores.

Slooooow service. We had reservations for a party of 20 and they tried to squish us in one long table before we complained and had them reserve us another table so we could all sit comfortably. Was very crowded to begin with (on a Saturday evening). They got a friend's order wrong and by the time they were able to bring out another meal, everyone was already finished and onto dessert. The food that we did have were rather tasty though. Good mac&cheese in a rather medium-sized serving. My friend had the salmon, however, and the portion was tiiiiiiiny. Saw the fondue, looked tiny as well. Drinks were good, dessert (creme brulee) was great. Was my first time and probably my last; nothing too special. Valet closes at 11pm? Who does that?!

I arrived about an hour and change early for my 8:30 reservation so my two friends and I could have a cocktail before sitting down. We notified the host staff as soon as we arrived that we would be waiting in the bar when the time came for our reservation in an hour. They assured us that that was no problem and we sat at the bar and enjoyed some tasty drinks. The place started to get pretty packed so we checked in with the host staff again to make sure our reservation would be kept. Again, we were told we were in good shape and not to worry. We were not seated until 9 and without much of an apology. No manager, no free drink and no good table to make up for it (they later squeezed another table next to us carrying the table and chairs over our heads as we ate). I have worked many years in the restaurant industry and this was really unacceptable.

Luna Park is a neat artsy place to grab some drinks (a good variety of muddled drinks, from mojitos to blueberry lemonades, and specialty martinis) and some 'fun foods' (make your own s'mores, goat cheese fondues with apple & bread for dipping.) Entrees are kind of a hit&miss - the mac 'n cheese is the only consistently good 'large plate' they offer.
