Mon May 17 2010The below reviews really hit the nail on the head with the problems at Lucky's. We had many of the same experiences. The 30 minute wait for a table wasn't bad, but the hour waiting for food after ordering was ridiculous. We were also given the teaspoonful of ketchup and the menu never mentioned that my breakfast burritos would be covered in sauce filled with nutmeg. Yuck. The other food we ordered was good and very fresh. Also it was nice to have the espresso bar available as part of our meal, but the waiter was insistent upon called "iced coffee" by some other name they use and even went so far as to be accusatory when another waitress brought over the wrong drinks. Other than the one waiter, the rest of the staff were friendly and courteous but there are really a lot of better places for brunch in Cleveland.

Sat Sep 20 2008A friend and I decided to have Sunday brunch at Lucky?s. It was our first visit and I very much wanted to find my new favorite weekend breakfast spot. Boy, was I let down! The restaurant itself is cozy and, even on a Sunday morning, was bustling with locals. Beside the restaurant is a beautiful garden with flowers and fresh vegetables ? the garden is where we chose to eat. I ordered the ?Shipwreck? (like a casserole of hash browns, eggs, vegetables, bacon, and cheddar cheese) WITHOUT hash browns. However, when our food came my shipwreck had hash browns mixed into it to the point that they were impossible to pick out. When I brought this mistake to our waiter?s attention, he responded: ?oh, they don?t do special requests.? I feel that at the beginning of the process, when I placed my order, was the time to tell me this. Not after our table's food arrived. I told this to the waiter who checked with the kitchen to see if they would make an exception ? they refused. Lucky?s is n... Read more

Tue Jul 08 2008There was a very long line with no organization of where people were supposed to stand. The service was apathetic at best. The breakfast was very expensive for what we got, especially considering the "affordable" rating. I cannot have dairy (severe lactose intolerance) and when I asked for the omelette without cheese (not a substitution or something complicated) they told me there were no substitutions or special orders, even for food allergies. I was told I could eat the pancakes or tofu sautee (which I don't eat), so I ordered the pancakes, and they were covered in whipped cream (a milk product). Additionally, my boyfriend is severely allergic to gluten, and so he was told he could only have the tofu "canoe- wreck." Even this was touching a pile of toast (has gluten) and for him even if things are touching they can often set him off. When he asked for ketchup, he was literally given a bowl with less than a tablespoon of ketchup in it. Everything was unhealthy- my boyfriend's ... Read more

Fri May 09 2008The chef serves big flavors and big portions of common dishes with a twist. Most offerings are made from local produce, meats, and dairy. Favorite breakfast and brunch items are the Shipwreck ( eggs, potatoes, vegetables, cheese, very big and tasty), the breakfast burrito (including a spicy mole-like sauce made in house), and the specialty waffles. They're serving lunch items now (salads, sandwiches, great mac and cheese). Brunch is an event on Saturdays and Sundays with seating outside during nice weather. This is where Cleveland's chefs take their families for brunch!

Fri Oct 05 2007Yummy desserts. Some sandwich stuff good too. Coffee fresh but harsh - not mellow or enjoyable.
