I have lived in Louisville almost my whole life. I am 19 years old. Most of what I am about to say is really bad, normally if you cant say anything nice dont say anything at all but when it comes to louisville, im taking off the glove. Let me start off with saying that I have been to Chicago Ill, New York City, Cincinati OH, Columbus OH, Cleveland OH, Pittsburg PA, Washington DC, Arlington VA, Albany NY, you get the picture. I have been many places. Boy did I love all those places more than Louisville!!! Louisville has the worst education system in the state, has record amount of high school drop outs, some school is always on the news here for drugs or something violent happening. More than half the city's population is a bunch of druggies. Then we have a mayor who is more worthless than shit who did nothing to help his city during a major power outage twice and instead helped out more with this golf tournament going on during a major power outage and ignored those who were out in th... Lived there for a few years when I was in High School. For a City that size it is actually pretty boring, Unless you are into Booze or Weed to keep you busy. Not a whole lot by way of entertainment. It does have the Kentucky Derby, Oktoberfest, Thunder over Loiusville ( a real Kick-ass Fireworks Display), and the Bourbon Festival. But those constitute a good reason to Visit, not to Live there. It also has some nice Scenery and Landscape; but again, these things make it a nice place to visit for a Weekend.

A great place to live if you are a millionaire (who can leave anytime they want), a retiree, or elementary aged school child. The landscape is as non-descript as the Ohio River is filthy. Too far from the ocean or mountains for week-end getaways or anything akin to day trips. There are the nasty lakes with hoards of motor boats sloshing waste into them. The humidity in summer is unbearable. The traffic is ridiculous given the miles and miles of road this place has. I give it a -10 stars.

Great city biggest firework show in the world each year in their Thunder over Louisville. Always go for KY Derby, great restaurants, beautiful women, not the best hotels but we rent a house now. Awesome city.

I've lived in Chicago, Indianapolis, Detroit, and in the boon docks as well. My fiance has lived in Tokyo, LA, Chicago, and in rural CA, too. We've both lived in Louisville for 4 years. Easily the most boring place I have ever lived. Ask anyone what there is to do, and you'll get answers about the zoo, the museums, and perhaps Churchill Downs. Those are all great, if you're only here for a weekend. Longer than that, and I'll wager no one will be able to suggest a single thing that doesn't involve getting drunk enough to not notice how bored you really are. I have nothing against a night of drunken insanity, but it gets old quicker than your liver (luckily). The restaurant scene is decent, but not nearly as good as it should be for a city the size of Louisville. Which is another thing - Louisville is the 16th largest city only in the books. It does not, by any means, match up to other cities of that population size. There was more to do, more to see, and more to talk about in... Read more

I have visited it about 8 times, and I do find it OK but really, not great as not much is going on. I did enjoy the zoo there, UofL, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, and the Louisville Slugger Museum. On the contrary, other than those, it will not suit me so much as it is somewhat of a quiet city if you are into nightlife. Yes, there is a homeless problem, but it is surprising that this is dubbed the 16th largest city in the US- I don't see it and neither do my friends that live there. People are friendly, but the visitor center isn't- it is not open on the weekends. Good downtown (I liked the Aegon Center and the Ali Center/Museum), fine bus system, and an OK city overall, but it can be vitalized if there was a pro sports team and if Amtrak restores service there. Honestly, if you choose to visit, I think that the suburbs on the Indiana side of the Louisville metro area are worth more of your time.

First of all I am a native of Louisville and I love it. I think it is very underrated in terms of size and popularity. It is the 16th largest city in the United States (1.3 million people), bigger than the likes of New Orleans, Miami, Seattle, Milwaukee etc. I can also say Louisville has changed a whole lot in the past 10 years. Louisville now has a Hard Rock Cafe, and a great nightlife (4th St Live) www.4thstlive.com They are also building a brand new, state-of-the-art arena downtown. If you havn't already been to Louisville you should plan a trip because it is a great city.

A city on the rise in terms of nightlife. The home of My Morning Jacket who are clearly the best band in America right now.

Louisville has added alot more things to do downtown with the opening of 4th Street Live. The food, drink, and atmosphere is wonderful. The renovation going on in the city has brought the life back into it. There are many locally owned restraunts along Bardstown Rd. and Frankfort Ave. that have wonderful food.

Loserville.... oops i mean louisville is boring. Nothing but chain stores and a run down downtown area with drug addicts and homeless everywhere, avoid at all costs!

Dull, boring city. Cops are pricks in unmarked Camaro's, etc. Out to gain maximum revenue, not our safety. Only good thing is the Derby

Louisville is not the best city I have been in, but it is certainly not the worst. Louisville has a very nice downtown(new convention center and nice resturants, crappy library though), especially Old Louisville and Bardstown Road near downtown are just excellent. Louisville has some very nice three story houses and is kept fairly tidy. All and all, I wouldnt make a special trip to Louisville, but it is a very nice city for the region and suprisingly is almost as big as Indianapolis.

I was only there for a day, but Louisville, like Kentucky, seems a bit underrated. You might think the place is worse than it is. What I saw was a mid-sized city on a river with a decent downtown that included a nice Hospital building smack dab in the center of town. There was also a nice Baseball stadium downtown as well as the musuem for Louisville Slugger baseball bats, right there with a giant baseball bat at the entrance. The people seemed nice ( to me at least) , and there were some good malls to shop at. Bourbon-flavored chocolate is nice as well as a soda called Ale 8-one ( if you can find it). The University of Louisville has good athletic teams, but some of the most arrogant fans you'll ever come across. They also hate UK with a passion. Not a half bad place I think. Muhammad Ali is from Louisville and the city is proud of it.

Louisville is the best city to grow up in. It is really diverse and it is beautiful. It is not too big, nor too small. It has a great waterfront and the derby is awesome. Especially the HIGHLANDS

I grew up 30 miles south of Louisville and I really can't think of anything significant as far as attractions go about the city other than the Kentucky Derby. The crime rate is very low compared to other urban wastelands and the people are very friendly. The skyline is pretty nice when crossing over from Indiana at night. There's some good malls and restraunts around, and its a great place for someone who likes the big city life but wants less of a chance of getting mugged.

There isn't much to do in Louisville, but it earns points due to its very warm and friendly people.
