Sat Jun 12 2010I have been shopping at Loom since it opened around the corner from where I live. The selection is amazing. I can always find just that perfect gift for a friend/relative or for myself. I have been in this shop over a dozen times and I have always found the staff friendly and courteous. I'm baffled at a few of the previous entries. I have never encountered anything remotely similar to what they wrote of. Browsing through Loom has always been a treat!

Tue Jul 21 2009Loom has been my go-to spot over the past 4 years for letter press cards, beautiful candles, and gifts. However, I had a terrible run-in with a rude staff member on Sunday July 19th. I was so upset that I wanted to write the owner, Barbara, until I found out she is even more of a terror then her employees. Oh well...I guess I'll buy my $5.00 Snow & Graham and Hello Lucky Letter Press cards else where...Like the nearby Scaredy Kat.

Wed Nov 19 2008Loom's major merchandise is Tano bags -- which are amazing, wonderful bags. I've bought several from the store. Tano bags come with a guarantee that the company will fix them if you have a problem with them, but you're supposed to send them back through the retailer. In fact, retailers are contractually obligated to accept bags back to send in for repair. Despite this, Loom refuses to accept the bags back. The sales staff couldn't give a good answer for why this was and at one point said if they did take my bag, I would have to pay for the shipping. When I said that was fine, suddenly, they came up for another reason why the store wouldn't do it. Tano actually reimburses them for shipping, so Loom would make money if they honored their commitment. The clerk told me one thing on the phone, another when I showed up at the store and at no point was helpful or concerned about any inconvenience she might be causing me. When I called Tano, the company said I wasn't the first person to call... Read more

Fri Mar 14 2008I've always thought that Loom was a nice neighborhood boutique. An experience I had at their clothing annex was so awful that I will never go in there again. I had some items to try on and was told that I would have to wait-understandable as there is only one fitting room in the whole store. There were two women sharing the room and taking their time, not rushing at all. I had no problem waiting and browsed some more until finally, 15 minutes later, they were done. For the whole time I was in the fitting room I was the only person in the store. I know this because i left the fitting room twice- first to get another item and second to ask the salesgirl if she thought the jeans I was trying on looked ok. "Do you need white jeans?" she asked. Ok. Whatever. So she wasn't too friendly, but I still decided on a few items I liked and was getting dressed when I heard her greet another customer. The salesgirl then came over to the fitting room and said, "I don't mean to rush you but I have ... Read more

Thu Sep 07 2006This little store carries some nice items, but nothing you can't find elsewhere. And elsewhere is exactly where you should go, because the people who work here are pure evil. This place made me so mad in the past that I actually wrote them a letter -- yeah, with a stamp and everything -- telling them off. AWFUL! It's one of those places that you want to support because it seems cute and it's a local, neighborhood, non-chain store, but then the bad attitudes are such a turn off it ruins your entire day. When this place goes out of business, I will uncork a bottle of champagne outside and dance in celebration of their failure. It's only a matter of time considering how they treat their customers/neighbors.

Sat Jul 08 2006I like the products this store offers. They clearly have a great sense of style, and in the past I loved to pick up wedding presents, birthday presents, and purses there. I would stop in every time I went to the bank across the street. After a run in with an incredibly aggressive store owner/employee this past weekend however, I've decided that I'm not going back. The woman was down right hostile and rude. I prefer it when I'm treated like a valuable customer, rather than a waste of someone's time.

Fri Jun 09 2006Don't shop at this store! I bought a pair of jeans, and the next day, I realized that they were ripping and the zipper didn't work, but the girl said that I had already worn them, so I wasn't able to return them! HELLO? How can I notice that the thread rips and the zipper doesn't zip unless they are ON ME? I had the tags and the receipt and everything, but she wouldn't except it and had a very arrogant and condescending personality. I will bring my business to the internet from now on instead of supporting a cute neighborhood shop. The WORST personalities are at Loom, I have never seen more pretentious and snobby people in my life and I have shopped all over Manhattan, Beverly Hills and all over Los Angeles. Somehow, Park Slope Brooklyn managed to hire the worst personalities out of any of the more traditionally snobby neighborhoods. DON'T GO HERE!

Tue Nov 08 2005"LOOM" I will never shop there again. Reason being, there stupid return/exchange policy. I tried to exchange ..not return or get full refund, but exchange an unused leather bag. With receipt, you cannot exchange or return after 2 weeks! All she wanted to see was the crappy little tag that I threw away, did I mention I had my receipt. Helloooo!??? The manager told me I was hanging it over her head . I wasn't asking her to bend over backwards! And who knows I could have exchanged the bag for a more expensive bag and spent more money at her store. But I didn't because I couldn't. I now am selling my bag on ebay because the thing falls off my shoulder when I am wearing a coat. Who wants a bag that falls off their shoulder ! Do not shop there if you want to protect your purchases.
