Every once in a while I'll get something from here when I'm looking for something other than burgers. If you're expecting high end seafood you've picked the wrong place. I'd say it's high end cafeteria seafood and it can be greasy at times. The hush puppies are my favorite item on the menu.

My fish was breaded in a "pancake like" batter and swimming in grease. Really, really, disgusting. One of the only fast food places I will NEVER eat at again.

I absolutely love Long John Silvers fish and chicken planks, french fries, coleslaw and hushpuppies..The grilled fish with rice and veggies were delicious as well. Too bad they closed down the Greenspoint location in Houston tx!

I ate a couple of their fish dinners. I prefer hamburgers but fish is good too. The meals had about two pieces of fish, hushpuppies, fries, and I'm pretty sure that it included coleslaw. Tarter Sause made the fish taste great. I must say that I liked those two dinners. One of these days I'm going to go there and order a lobster. I give Long John Silvers a 4 star rating.

I have eaten there maybe twice, and both times my food was over-breaded and completely bland. The popcorn shrimp tasted like shrimp-flavored-breading, and even my soda was watered-down. And Fish Planks? That's a very inviting title [note my sarcasm].

Clearly it isnt the best seafood. They arent trying to compete with Red Lobster, but for a fast food restaurant they arent doing anything wrong. The crab cakes are amazing.

Until today, I hadn't been to a LJS in about seven months. I had always enjoyed the food and couldn't complain about the service. Which is why I am more or less complaining about an individual establishment, rather than the company as a whole and why I am giving 3 stars. It may not be fair to down the company as a whole, but how this mishap slipped by ... I'll never know. Since moving to a new area, I located the nearest establishment and this is what happened. I ordered: One Fish and More Combo Meal Two Chicken and More Combo Meals Two side orders of clams. Three medium drinks. I Received: Three Chicken and More Combo meals. Two side orders of clam. Two side orders of fish as a 'Add a Plank' and four extra coleslaw. Two of the meals had one plank of chicken and one hush puppy apiece. One combo meal only came with 16 individual french fries. Two chicken planks were under cooked and no drinks were ever given to me. My first trip back to the counter was to point out the ov... Read more

While I think it sucks there, I'll give it 3 stars because Wayne Coyne from the Flaming Lips worked there for about ten years, so it can't be that bad.

Their cheesesticks and honey mustard sauce are good, and their fish is better with the malt vinegar. Good stop when I don't wanna spend a lot at red lobster.

Sometimes great, other times good. I'm a chicken plank person, myself. I don't like fish...unless it doesn't taste like fish. haha

I have to give them 5 stars, simply because the food is so good. I have only had one bad experience with the staff. We unfortunately don't have one in our town anymore. But, I wish they would come back.

i was once a Long John's patron... but i fear my love of the place has been thwarted thanks to the one in my home town.  when the front page of the town newspaper has a photo of a to-go box crawling with cockroaches, well... that image just sticks with you.  it's a shame... i loved the fish and shrimp.

It is good with lots of butter with fish. It is appealing to me that this seafood chain gives my favorite hush puppies on the planet. I can say a little greasy, but great taste nonetheless.

Seen in bad urban neighborhoods and military base areas. Guess they needed to do something with the sea robin and skate that the fisherman caught...

It is expensive for what you get and it smells bad, not a fish smell. My nick name for this place is Long John's Puke and Shudderr, could be a lot better.

A long time ago, I loved Long John Silver's. When I was a baby, my mom used to buy fish from that place and feed some of it to me. It was excellent back then, but now that restaurant is horrible! The last time I went there, my fish was so greasy that I could barely eat it. I saw one of my mom's friends in one of the grocery stores in my hometown. She had two kids with her. That lady told Mom that one of her children got sick and was throwing up after she ate at Long John's. I told her about my bad experience there and she heard me out. I will not go back there again until they improve their food.

The combinations dinners seem to give you a lot for your bucks. It tastes good but healthwise very bad. This should only be an occasional indulgence. I can only imagine the lard and Chemicals in that Fish

There was a Long John Silver's in my work area. It was a favorite stopping place. For fast food it was the best and reasonably price too. We waited years for one to open in our area. We are still waiting. Thank heavens that the KFC 20 miles from us has wisely incorporated a Long John Silver,s menu.l

Never had it but sounds good. Forget what Ignatius-J-Reilly said. If it was true what he said. L.J.S would b sued 4 that. Even though it sounds good. I'd still prefer authentic seafood.

Have read all the comments. Surprised about the relatively low ranking. Inconsistant service and quality downgrades them one star. Chicken planks are outstanding. Original menu is better than their so-called healthy fare. Malt vinegar is the best. They have no national competition.

I always get chicken here (planks) and it is great!!!: I've had shrimp and clams a few times and they were both good. Their batters are the best for seafood. The only thing I was unimpresed with were the fries.

Very inexpensive, and very conveniant when you have that fast food craving. The location close to my home may be the filthiest restaurant I've ever seen though. The workers seem like they just got out of a rap video. That's OK though, I do not go here expecting fine French dining.
