Linus

Linus Van Pelt (Lucy's brother) is rarely seen without his security blanket. He tends to be philosophical about life, and he believes in the Great Pumpkin.

According to legend the character was modeled after the oldest son of Schulz family neighbors George and Barbara Bush.

A wimpy sidekick with severe emotional problems. But he's loyal, honest, and a great friend. I wish I had a Linus

Probably the smartest kid in the group.  But boy, does he have "issues"

He's more of a  hallmark card than a real kid.

The underrated philosopher of the group. . .but that blanket sends up a red flag for me. . .I see issues looming in his adulthood. . .

No wonder he clings to the blanket, with that sister of his terrorizing him to no end! The blanket is the symbol which reminds me of how we all need security at times. I also like how Linus told Charlie Brown (who was disillusioned about the commercialism of the holiday season) the REAL meaning of Christmas -- one of the most moving scenes ever in a Peanuts special. While Linus is not an angel all the time, I would say that he is the sweetest and purest of all the Peanuts characters.

I saw a bit where he got kidnapped on Robot Chicken or some such oddness. It was pretty hilarious.

Anyone who doesn't like Linus has a serious problem. He is the typical little brother and has his insecurities yet...is soooo wise.

Linus sucks his thumb and still likes his security blanket has a passion for the great pumpkin and does not care if anyone disapproves of it. got to give him credit for that. he is sweet unlike his sister and a good pal to Charlie Brown.

probably my favorite character; charlie brown was too depressing, lucy was a bitch, and peppermint patty made me feel uncomfortable. intelligent, passionate little guy.

Smart, philosophical but still a kid who hung onto his blanket for security.

Linus wasn't cool. If his blanket wasn't actually in his hands he would go completely nuts and start sweating and shaking. Hard to admire anyone with such deep-rooted neuroses.

Linus is so sweet, with his blanket in his arms, mind you he's getting a bit old for it. Go Snoopy get the blanket, go Snoopy get the blanket!

He was most funny when holding his blanket or waiting for the Great Pumpkin and still holding to his dignity. His philosophical style would have been funnier if he used it less often on the strip.

He's so cute when he's quoting the Bible! Also he has great comic potential when he's interacting with Lucy. He's Lucy's opposite who is always trying to defuse her anger, but he over looks one small problem: She LIKES being angry!

I hate to take a character politcally, but he brought on political correctness, which brought political deterioration.

Great philosopher. I love his Christmas monologue. Too bad he never got to see that Great Pumpkin...

The kind philosopher, the voice of reason, the kid who may sometimes make other kids roll their eyes and mutter "Here we go again!". But, he was the only one who knew what Christmas was really all about and had the guts to say it. If Linus were to grow up, I'm almost sure he would be wearing Birkenstocks with socks and teaching in some small college somewhere near Seattle.

Linus is the smartest of the Peanuts gang. A miniature philosopher. His Christmas monologue is a classic.

I think Linus' blanket was symbolism for his Pride in The Country. He was a true American. Whether PigPen soiled it or Snoopy stole it, or that crabapple Lucy tainted it, Linus still stayed loyal to his 'blanket.' Now that's the real Red, White & Blue!!

Linus sucks. He is a whiny little brat that should be strangled with his damn blanket.

Growing up a thumb-sucker with a security blanket and an older sister, I always identified with Linus. He's the best.

What's wrong with the world today? The answer is too many Linuses. While an endearing character in Peanuts, Linus wound up as the protege for the politically correct, sensitive men of the '90s. Now look at us, with a goofball President that ought to be holding a blanket and sucking his thumb himself...

Maybe I related so well with Linus because of the blanky thing! I could understand his loyalty and devotion to the good old security blanket!
