This would get zero stars if that was an option. This router is absolutely useless for wireless. Every morning my RSS feeds crash the router. After I reboot I can usually make it through about a tenth of my morning reading before it crashes again. Basically, to read all the news stories I need to in the morning, I have the option of either rebooting between six and 10 times or plugging directly into the modem. This thing is junk. The only thing worse than this modem is the technical support, which is strangely enough unable to "support" for "technical" issues, such as, the modem crashes a dozen or more times a day. If you don't mind resetting your modem several times a day, restarting downloads and not being able to watch videos or stream audio, then by all means, get yourself a WCG200. If you don't feel your life needs any more aggravation, go with Motorola. The WCG200 is a wireless router and a cable modem. It only succeeds at half of its mission on any regular basis.

I hate to pile on here, but I also made the mistake of buying this thing. As others note, it cannot maintain an internet connection for more than a few hours, usually drops within minutes. I have tried it using both WEP and WPA. I have been through the mill with both my cable provider tech support and Linksys'. Finally convinced Linksys that it was their problem. So they sent me a new one that has exactly the same problem. Apparently that satisfies their warranty. I've tired of trying to get someone at Linksys to admit that there is a problem, so have gone back to using an old motorola modem and a new Belkin router. Uses more real estate but works fine.

Transmit more than 20kbps for 20 minutes over the wireless and the router crashes. Linksys has never fixed the problem and doesn't intend to. I'm horrified that this worthless product is still on the market.

I was disturbed by the sheer number of negative reviews for this product. I won't say that anyone else's experience is wrong, but I will give you mine. I have owned this gateway since late 2004, maybe early 2005. I can't remember when I got it because I have had it that long. It has never failed. Ever. I have used it in three completely different geographic locations, first in Washington with Wave Cable, then in Virginia with Comcast, and now in North Carolina with Roadrunner. Initial setup is always "difficult" with various ISPs but only because they make it that way in an effort to try to tell me that the machine won't work on their system. This has happened to me all three times, and guess what? Its funny that when you get shifted to Tier 2 or higher tech support, within 10 minutes my box is up and running. Don't let the cable companies fool you with their shady business practices. I have had occasional problems with dropped connections, but I can honestly say after see... Read more
