Sun Jan 16 2011Never done it but I've played in bands where the crowd line danced to some songs we played. What fascinated me was; how can a seemingly group of strangers just get out there on the dance floor and dance in perfect sync together? Maybe there are standard steps for certain songs?

Fri Aug 06 2010It's good to see that nobody has felt compelled to write a review on line dancing in almost three years. Perhaps we can finally sleep safe in the knowledge that we are done with this horror of human interaction and middle class white people can resume their awkward curiosity with funk. UPDATE: Please lord tell me that the recent resumptioin of reviews on line dancing is in no way indicative of a revival of the trend!!!

Fri Aug 06 2010Country music is meant to be enjoyed while sitting with a beer, but if you're really feeling energetic or are just trying to impress a girl, a two-step is acceptable. Line dancing on the other hand really has no good purpose.

Thu Jun 05 2008Even though this is a bit cheezy, line dancing is fun with a bunch of people. I used to work at a resort in Mexico and we would get everyone at the pool into it. Its always a good time, and a great ice breaker.

Thu Oct 13 2005For those who may be interested in line dancing and want to know what it ACTUALLY is..... Taking place in several different countries - New Zealand, Australia, Canada, US, etc. San Fransisco, US, has a huge line dance following. It's much harder than it looks, so you will be frustrated the first 5 or 6 classes. The key is to know the different types of steps that make up the dance. So instead of saying in your head, "my foot goes here, then here, then it needs to do this," you just think "left sailor shuffle, right sailor shuffle, coaster step." After a while your feet know the steps and you don't really have to think about it. Hardwood floors are needed. Shuffling, cha-cha's, and spinning are IMPOSSIBLE on the average dance club-gymnasium type floor. We do not wear boots, we wear tennis shoes or dance tennis shoes. And I've never owned a pair of Wranglers, or a button down Garth-like patterned shirt. We wear hiphuggers and belly shirts just like everybody else (at least the girls do,... Read more

Thu May 01 2003I don't get it. I just don't get it. Where is the art, the rhythm, the form of expression, or in what way can this possibly be even fun?. In my opinion, this is a rather prehistoric, unevolved form of dance.

Wed Jun 13 2001There is something frightening about line dancing. When I imagine an Orwellian world in which all freedom of individual expression has been stamped out, I picture herds of people wearing identical clothes, driving identical mini vans, flashing frozen, identical smiles, stiffly marching down the street wearing Levi's Dockers, accessing a pre-packaged Internet through AOL, and living in cookie cutter suburban gated communities. The dance of choice in this robotic hell world? Line Dancing.
