I was in Accident on May 18 With a Liberty Mutual Insured Vehicle, but the driver was not the owner. The guy rear ended me. The whole experence was very frustrating, none of the claims agents nows how to answer a phone or call you back. To really to talk to a person there you have to talk to claim reps lackys, who never have a answer and want to call you back. Well they never do. They told me they where waiting on the other drivers statement before they could settle my claim and that he would not return my phone calls. I once again on the phone talk to the claim reps "TEAM MEMBER" and she happen to say she my statement and the witness's statement. I told her there was no witness and I would like to know the name of the witness, would you now it. The witness was the other drivers statement that the didn't have and apparently no one else ever click on the link for the witness statment until then. You need to understand it was June 14 by and I had talk to quite a few people at L... Read more

Stay far , far away from Liberty Mutual. I was a ten year customer of this company and never had a single claim in that time period, but my rates kept creeping up. We had 3 vehicles on the policy. Last year, I forgot to renew my driver's license. It was expired for 2 weeks, and I received a ticket for driving with an expired license. I Renewed my license right away, and paid the ticket, which carried NO POINTS in my state. Liberty Mutual increased our rates by 140 percent (REALLY!! it came out to about a 4 thousand dollar per year increase) because of this ticket. Unbelieveable. Geico gave me a policy for all 3 vehicles that has the same coverage and was cheaper than Liberty Mutual's pre-ticket price. Beware- Liberty mutual will screw you in return for years of being a loyal customer.

Outstanding service. My wife is a terrible driver so she (and, by default, I) have the Cadillac of auto insurance plans. We get it through Liberty Mutual ("LM"). After work last Friday I found major damage to my parked car. Whoever side-swiped my parked car apparently didn't have the time to leave a note. I was personally offended and emotionally distraught. Less than a week later, I'm out only $200 and have my car back, clean and looking as good as new. While my car was in the shop, LM let me vent to them (more than once) and took care of everything: they set me up with an Infiniti (no cost to me); got me transportation to/from the body shop (again, no cost); and kept me posted w/ a progress report, and a word of consolation, every step of the way. For an emotionally stressful experience (I have an unhealthy attachment to my car), this really wasn't that bad. Thanks to Liberty Mutual and the good people who work there.

A Liberty Mutual driver hit my car recently. As part of the claim settlement I was given a rental car to drive while my car was being repaired. It took 9 days for my car to be repaired because a few parts were being ordered so I kept the rental car for 11 total days. Not very much, and the cost is only $24.24 per day billed directly to Liberty. My settlement contract states that I can keep the rental car for as long as it takes to repair my vehicle up to 30 days. I returned the car after 11 days and figured everything was OK. Well, today I get a call from Liberty saying they are only going to pay for 2 days of the rental. To top it off the guy was so mean to me on the phone. Geez.

I had a problem with my vehicle. I was able to get it to the dealer where I bought it and have it regularly serviced. The dealer estimated repairs at $2,200. I called Liberty Mutual and filed a claim. I asked them to accelerate claims processing since I needed the vehicle and it was undriveable and had to remain at the dealer's site until repaired. IT'S BEEN A FULL WEEK SINCE I REPORTED THE CLAIM AND LIBERTY MUTUAL STILL HASN'T SENT AN APPRAISER TO LOOK AT MY VEHICLE!!!!!!! I've called and talked to the claims rep five or six times. I've had the dealer take pictures of the problem and fax the pictures and the estimate to the claims rep. Nothing has moved my claim. Liberty Mutual's attitude is: sorry, we're doing what we can -- WHICH IS NOTHING. Instead of getting an appraiser out to look at my vehicle, they've done what they could -- NOTHING. The SOB's have left me without my vehicle and they couldn't care less. That's unacceptable. I pay them for automobile insurance... Read more

With Liberty Mutual for 20 years without incident. Got one accident with no charges, doubled the premium. They don't look at ur history, they only care about using ur mistake to get what they can out of you. Got same insurance for half the premium at Hartford. Will be transferring homeowners as well.....Thanks Liberty for the loyalty...returning the favor....

1 stars A hail storm blew through our town last year damaging many of the roofs in our neighborhood. While our neighbors were having their roofs replaced our claim was denied as Liberty Mutual sighted "no hail damage" observed during their inspection. Our damage is obvious and even after submitting photo's showing clear hail strike damage would LM send out another team for a re-inspection - nope. I've been a Liberty Mutual homeowner and car insurance customer for 10 years and this was my first claim submitted - it will also be my last. I got in a car accident several months ago that resulted in my car being totaled. Liberty Mutual tried to tell me that I did not have coverage at the time. I did. They called me several times a day telling me I was not covered. No one in that office communicated with each other so I ended up being harassed by several different people over the same issue. I was told I couldn't have a rental car. I ended up getting one. It was in my policy. I was told I had no insurance the day of the accident. That was not true. I was told to move my car from the tow lot because Liberty Mutual would not be paying for it. They did have to pay for it. After several weeks of harassment from Liberty Mutual employees, I finally received the money for my car. I am still fighting with them to pay the hospital bill from the day after the accident, almost a year later. I strongly recommend staying away from Liberty Mutual.

HORRIBLE SERVICE AND SLOW!!!! I recently was involved in a car accident in which I was not at fault. Their insurance, Liberty mutual took over 3 weeks to approve the estimate on my car. When it finally was approved they refused to call my last year car model "new" and refuse new OEM parts for it. I fought them for hours on this and the only response I got was them talking in circles it didn't qualify. I eventually called my insurance compant (ACUITY) who said it was rediculous that my car is considered not "new". Over four hours on the phone with libery mutual and the result is NOTHING but rambling. 5 minutes on the phone with ACUITY and they picked up the slack and covered all of the upgrades to new OEM parts. I can say I will NEVER be a customer of Liberty mutaul after this incident!!!!

Just canceled with them after 5 years. I was in an accident and they totaled my vehicle out even though I was still driving it and it only needed a rear light to pass PA inspections. They provided a rental for 10 days but due to the recent cash for clunkers car lots were low on inventory so it ended up taking me 20 days to finally get a car in. I called to extend the rental but was told that for totaled vehicles they are only required to provide5 days rental coverage but were nice enough to give me ten since it occured overa holiday weekend. My summary page clearly indicated I had 30 days coverage but apparently in the fine print in the pages of coverage it said that was only for repairs. Customer service thru this was horrible to non-existant. Liberty Mutual is great, unless you have to file a claim.

I'd never, ever suggest Liberty Mutual auto insurance. Their customer service is horrible. They've canceled my insurance without my knowledge that resulted me driving without auto insurance. And they charged me cancellation NOTICE fee when they didn't notice me at all! When I went to dispute that charge, they hold my policy at registry so I can't get a new policy at any other insurance company. This is holding customer as hostage. The MA law is strange too, do you know if you owe the previous insurance company for any reason, for my case is a charge I've disputed on the bill, they you can't get a policy at another company until the bill is cleared. So you have to drive without insurance and who wants to do that. The MA auto insurance law doesn't protect consumers at all! And there are insurance companies like Liberty Mutual taking loopholes in these laws taking advantages from customers. Justice needed please!

Liberty Mutual has just lost me as a customer due to exorbitant increases to my policy premium. They must have thought I would get amnesia and not notice the SIXTY percent increase to my policy premium over the last two years for no reason! Liberty Mutual took over my auto insurance policy three years ago when Prudential stopped offering auto insurance. My premium rates hadn't changed in years before the switchover. In fact, my rates had actually gone down quite a bit with Prudential due to my ever increasing-safer age bracket. I see NO GOOD REASON for this recent increase. Keep in mind I have had ZERO accidents/claims and ZERO speeding tickets/moving violations for the last seven years! I am now taking my business over to Amica where they quoted me LESS than what I used to pay with Prudential.

I have no idea why some people give this company such low ratings. Yes I have had an auto claim with them for my son's brand new vehicle, in which he was clearly at fault. They took the information quickly and got it in the shop. We were a little frustrated with the time it took to finish up the repair, but obviously there was a third party involved doing the repairs who should take part of the blame for it. There was never any question of dropping my son, (like Allstate did once)and our rates did not go up. Also in the end, they should have totaled the car, because of the end cost, but they didn't, however I definitely feel that that was probably the shop's fault for not listening to my husband's advice and checking the engine for damage correctly before they put the car together. However they were always available if we called, and returned calls. We could not get insurance with them later when we went to California which made me mad, but a year later we moved to Maryland where I was... Read more

I've been with Liberty Mutual for over 10 yrs now. Ive never had a claim, never been late with my payments, because it's automatically deducted from my checking account. No tickets, my MVR is clean....BUT my premium increases every year! I don't understand how this company justifies their rate increases every year. The Department of Insurance or the Commonwealth Automobile Reinsurers should look into this company a lot closer.

If I had a choice between getting another root canal performed or deal with Liberty Mutual and its incompetent employees I'd take that root canal, no questions asked. They are completely unhelpful and take their precious time in getting your money to you. Its been over a month since my claim and I still haven't received a check from them yet. Most people make one phone call and they send you a check. I had my car broken into and I had a lot of nice things like an ipod, laptop and books of cds. They actually sent someone out to my house to record my conversation on something that looked like a friggin' Talkboy from Home Alone. The representative made it see. The guy pm like he HAD to speak to me in person (this is something that could have been taken care of in a PHONE call) and wasted over an hour of my time which felt like more of an interrogation than anything else. The rep probably spent more money on gas to get to my house than the amount of my claim. Get a life. Instead of making ... Read more

A car with liberty mutual merged in my lane with no signal WHILE I was right next to her! I braked and crashed into the highway wall. Police determined it was entirely her fault and I called them. They referred me to another guy after getting all my information, and said he should contact me the next day. No calls the next day. I called and left a messeage. Again, did not hear from him. At this point I was very mad since my car was not in drivable condition and I had to go to school every morning. I again called the day after, he picked up and said they will get a specialist to check on it. I asked when, and he said "I cannot tell you, probably in the next couple days. " WHAT?

Aside from price, you just never really know about an insurance company until you have to submit a claim. Liberty Mutual has come through with flying colors in both automobile and homeowners categories. Had knowledgable claims representative and fast and fair claims handling. Not the cheapest insurance, but I'll gladly pay more for better service.
