I own this printer and it works great for me. I haven't used all the features, yet, but use the fax frequently and it's great. The printer is downstairs and the computers are upstairs and it's always printed with no problem. The one complaint I have is that you cannot refill the ink or get generic cartridges. This is a dirty little trick by Lexmark. The store I bought it at stopped carrying the ink only 1 month after I bought it, but Amazon sells the "large capacity" black ink online with free shipping. Would I buy it again? Only if I could use cartridges that I could refill myself. Otherwise it's a great little printer for a student. One ink cartridge will last me about 6 months (for student use). Oh, and don't replace the ink until you notice that the ink is running out on the print out-- otherwise it will seem as if the printer flies through ink!

I bought this one year ago and I am already looking for a new one. The biggest annoyance is the automatic feeder, which by the way you have to babysit, it likes to grab 2 to 10 sheets at a time. The power button is on it's way to jamming in either the on or off position. I have yet to figure out the best way to hook up the fax machine so that it works with my phone voice mail ( that could be my shortcomings) so I don't except incoming faxes. Oh and it only wants to fax out one out of every three times. Scanning is a bit annoying, I wanted to scan in newpaper articles well the flat part of the scan bed is not big enough. Overall it prints okay, slightly slow. I would give it one star, but atleast it lasted one year.

I purchased this all in one unit at the beginning of May as a birthday gift for my daughter. Upon her opening it yesterday--there was NO USB cable provided with the unit. I checked the listing and it says nothing about a cable not being provided. I then contacted amazon--they say contact the Lexmark company. I did that. Just got an email from them--there is nothing they can do. So--I guess--I'll never know if this dang thing works or not. Well--if I am willing to order and pay for an USB cable from Lexmark---around $32.00--I can find out. So much for this being a good deal!!!!!

I've owned this printer for a few months now and so far I have had no problems with it. The only complaint that I have is that if the ink is low it keeps reminding you to reorder or change the cartridge each time you print. That becomes pretty annoying. Also it goes thru ink pretty quickly. Otherwise it is a very decent printer for the price.

On the surface, The Lexmark X5470 looks like a great deal; it is a copier, printer, scanner and fax too. It also has an automatic document feeder and can print pictures directly from the memory card thru the built in PicBridge port and media card slot, however, you need a special photo color cartridge in place of the black ink cartridge. You can copy / scan /fax using the flat bed or the document feeder. All that at around $80. But the good stuff ends there. Print quality is poor, picture quality is even worse; and it uses ink like there is no tomorrow, expect around 150 pages before the Lexmark starts telling you to order new ink cartridge. If you want to get a generic or refilled ink cartridge, the Lexmark does not like that, and it will keep telling you that it's out of original ink. You may even get an error message to change the cartridge and the machine will stop working until you do so. In short, you will have to use the original Lexmark ink cartridges at around $50 for the pa... Read more
