Tue Jun 16 2009I've had a Simac MX 700 pasta maker for more years than I can remember and it worked well. A few years ago, my doctor changed my diet, and now I eat whole grain pasta. The problem was that my MX 700 could not handle whole grain. Like this PastaMaster, it recommended starting with 100% refined flour, but even its more advanced recipes were not whole grain, and the instructions said that the machine could not handle it. I decided that this PastaMaster would be a good replacement. One of the reviews said that it's good for 100% whole grain. I found a user manual on line, and it listed whole wheat bread and whole wheat bread sticks in the table of contents. Unfortunately, the on line manual did not include the recipe pages. If I took a one quart bottle that was half filled with water, and poured in a pint of 100% orange juice, would I be able to say that my product was "made with 100% orange juice?" After all, one of the ingredients is 100% orange juice. Obviously, that's irreleva... Read more

Mon Feb 23 2009I am not impressed. I recently purchased this machine with high hopes that technology had advanced enough to out perform my old worn out, long retired early 90's vintage "Pasta Express From CTC". There are those instances when time is short it would be nice to not make pasta by hand using a more traditional pasta roller/cutter. So I decided to give this machine a try thinking Lello may have got it right by watching what designs didn't work with other vendors of similar machines over the years. But after three uses it is in my opinion a marginal improvement. First the good points... It's mixes the flour into pasta dough very well. The design of the stirring paddles do a decent job of mixing the flour and water together. Using Semolina and whole wheat blend you can generally get perfect consistency dough in about 10-15 mins. Single direction operating motor for both mixing and extruding. Gone is the need to flip a direction switch for each operation. Simple operation to swap ... Read more

Sat Feb 21 2009The finished product was very good. It is very important to weigh the flour as opposed to using a measuring cup. It seemed to have a couple more steps then the machine I had used previously, but the end results were very good. I have not had this machine very long and have not tried all the different cutters, but I do not expect any problems as long as I follow the directions.

Thu Feb 05 2009We loved this machine. After you finish finding out the right balance of flour and the liquid ingredients you will be able to get a great pasta from it. And you even can froze the pasta you prepared for later use. We definetily recommend.

Wed Jan 28 2009My husband and I had never made pasta before and were wanting to start. I was worried when I could only find one fully automated machine. It is my nature to want more of a choice. And after reading the reviews on this machine I was also a little worried about the people who hated it and wanted to throw it away. But most of the reviews just told you to read the directions and follow them very carefully. Well, we followed the directions and our first batch was a HUGE success. We have since then made spinach and olive pastas. It is a fun machine and we are looking forward to moving onto rice noodles soon. The reviews were right...Just follow the directions!!!
