Wed Mar 11 2009Some of the clowns reviewing this album should be deleted. That said...Led Zeppelin's debut grabbed me from the get go. That first LZ album was meant to be an attention getter. Songs of heavy blues and rock. Early metal. Jimmy Page's masterful guitar work along with Robert Plant's piercing vocals set the groundwork for the bands future editions that went through constant metamorphosis. This is a must have album for anyone who appreciates near perfection of one of classic rock's greatest bands.

Mon Jun 23 2008The rise of one of the best ever group of all times. Much experimentation, search for new ways of musical expression and a variety that places it among the best of the Zepps.

Sun Dec 03 2006This debut album was a fraud because they didnot credit the original songwriters.

Sun Nov 19 2006As with all LZ material, I find it interesting to imagine what it would have sounded like with Jimmy Page's first choice of lead singer for the band. Great band anyway. Sadly peaked far too early.

Thu Aug 17 2006A good debut from a good band. Not even close to the genius of Hendrix, and Plant sounds like a Janice Joplin wannabe- but the rythym section was Awesome & Page is formidable on the gee-tar.

Thu Jun 08 2006Agree with BlackCat. I can't understand why people like this band. They are so unoriginal and juvenile.

Sat Jun 03 2006Sorry but I just don't get this band at all.

Sat Nov 19 2005One of the best albums of the late sixties along with the debut of Jimmi hendrix and The Doors
by robbo59
Sat Nov 12 2005A band gets together for less than a month and puts out an album as powerful and groundbreaking as this?!! Other than Jimi Hendrix's debut Are You Experienced, this rates as the most powerful opening salvo in the history of Rock and Roll. Not a bad track on this record and Jimmy Page cements his his place as the most awesome and versatile guitar player of all time. By far a better band than any of the shallow posers that have continued to follow in their wake. Zeppelin still rules!

Mon Apr 26 2004When i first listened to Led Zep i never really thought anything of it but as i got older i started noticing how good it was. I was too caught up in new age type of music to actually see the good quality of his singing and music. His musics so basic that it's actually really good, no other band can match it's style, music, and sound. They difinately brought cruddy old rock into a new era i dont know what would've become of rock if they hadn't stepped up to bat and kicked ass. I know they probly dont have their music down as good as some newer rock groups but back then they are at the pennicle of their heights and new music that people rate better then led zep probly would've never existed without led zep's influence of overly empowering rock music. Every tune they come up with seems to be from some other world, and it brings everyone into it very well. Songs like Stairway to Heaven, and Dazed and Confused make sure of that. They deserve a 5 star.

Wed Nov 26 2003While an excellent debut effort (released in 1969), the sound on this Led Zeppelin release is too uniform to merit more than three stars when compared to other releases in the rock and roll era and to the band's own subsequent efforts. Nevertheless, Zeppelin's debut is worth a listen and contains some of the group's signature songs, including Good Times Bad Times, Dazed And Confused, and Communication Breakdown. From the start, Led Zeppelin evidence their roots and influences of blues, psychedelic and folk.

Sat Sep 20 2003All their songs sound the same. I like them better than a 2, but I want this album to drop in the ratings.

Mon Sep 15 2003Led Zeppelin is my new favorite band. And this is a great album. However, a lot of their other stuff is better. To the person who said Plant was an annoying singer.....in my opinion, Plant is one of the few truly great singers I've heard.
by wetsack
Fri May 30 2003One of the greatest and most talented rock bands of all time. Led Zepplins music is diverse with many different complex rythmns, and instrumentals and yet, they blend it perfectly. The outcome, is powerful captivating rock, that knocks you on your ass.
by getback
Thu May 08 2003a truley great record.
by the_transgressors
Wed Apr 30 2003With a less annoying singer than Plant, Led Zeppelin could have been one of the greatest.

Tue Apr 22 2003Love Zep kick ass! I know I sound like a robot but, it's great. From start to finish it kicks ass. Dazed and Confused had parts to get stoned by and that rock harder than mettalica. How many more times, god times bad times, you shook me babe, commmuitcation breakdown. Need I say more.
by mcspongeicus
Tue Apr 22 2003My personal favourite Led Zep album. From the first song right to the last it explodes with energy. Rootsy, rocky, bluesy, metal - who cares what you want to call it.Its none of these but all of them at the same time. The sleazy rock of Dazed and Confused to the bluesy you shook me to the beautifull guitar and vocals of Babe i'm gonna leave you and the storming Communication Breakdown this album can not be beatan by any other Zep album - or many other albums for that matter.
by jason1972
Wed Oct 16 2002Even though this album was produced in 1968. It should still serve as a blueprint for all of today's hard rock/heavy metal acts. Especially with "live" studio tracks such as I Can't Quit You Baby and How Many More Times.
by japo8da9
Sun Jun 09 2002How these guys made such a great album after being together only a few months is amazing. They had the chemistry from day one and never stopped.Dazed and confused is the best song and a blueprint for things to come as was this whole record.
by kyesbd0c
Mon Oct 15 2001wow. is this album underrated. this one is so mysterious and technically experimental, i would think more people would appreciate it. Most of the songs aren't originally theirs, but the sounds and improv styles sure are. Jimmy lays his sound down thick and Robert's vocals get under your skin and shiver through your veins. JPJ's basslines are so complex and Bonzo is amazing. Songs like You Shook Me, I Can't Quit You Babe and Dazed and Confused really show how perfectly the four of them worked together.
