Fri Jan 22 2010All Zep albums were great. Loved the mix of real hard rock (Black Dog) and soft acoustic songs (Going to California). And, of course, the all-time favorite, Stairway to Heaven. One of their best albums.

Sun Jan 03 2010Misty Mountain Hop prevents this albums from being 0 stars.

Tue Feb 12 2008Jimmy Page is one of the greatest guitarists of all time. It's hard to argue with Rolling Stone magazine. They ranked him at #9 on their list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time. Zep were the best of their era.

Thu Dec 20 2007Real dingleberrys on this site who give this low stars. A f in classic that rocks

Fri May 25 2007IMO, this is Led Zep's best LP collection of great songs, being the only LP in which all songs on it are their most widely recognized, versus "In Through the Out Door" for example, which offers only a few greats on one LP. Being a huge John "Bonzo" Bonham fan, this LP offers "When the Levee Breaks", the tail end of "Stairway to Heaven", "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll", which make me happy. Of course, for truly great Bonzo, I have to jump from CD to CD to hear to Kashmir, Good Times, Bad Times" and "Dazed and Confused" to name a few.

Sat Mar 24 2007Even by Zeppelin standards, which aren't high anyway, this is an overtly sentimental and simplistic album. Stairway to Heaven is just pure schmaltz.

Wed Feb 14 2007This was Led Zeppelins' best album. Although it does not match the sheer power and musical breakthroughs of their first album- its offers much. 'Black Dog' rocks, and 'Rock and Roll' thumps along. 'Going to California' offers a nice acoustic Zep- while 'Stairway to Heaven' is just great. Side two is even better-'Misty Mountain Hop' and 'Four Sticks' are excellent, while 'When the Levee Breaks' brings a stunning close to the Album.

Mon Oct 16 2006A poor album by any standards. Again it is very simple and amateur. These guys had very little to offer.
by canadasucks
Mon Sep 25 2006Not the best album but a necessary one to help fill out the collection. . .the all-time party-killing song "Stairway to Heaven" along with other memorable songs make it a must-own for most music fans. . .oh, the recent 'devil music' rant is simply hilarious. . .1950 called and it wants its anti-rock zealotry back. . .

Fri Jul 28 2006One of the best rock albums -ever-. From start to finish to sideways, IV is a powerful musical masterpiece. Fierce. Tender. Mystical. Earthy. Soul-wrenching, bone crushing. Perfect.

Thu Jun 08 2006Another dose of garbage from those juvenile turds

Thu Apr 20 2006Awsome great album. Pure power rock and roll and smooth blues - anyone who thinks this is overrated must be a "Barry Manilow" fan!
by portecrayon
Thu Apr 13 200622 Million in sales is hard to argue with! All you one star chumps know you were diggin on this album when you first heard it. All you one star raters have nothing to say good about any group!

Tue Mar 28 2006This album is scary good. If you grew up on techno computer aided wizardry, rap, speed metal, etc. then this will sound like a dated rough rock album. This is hard nosed power trio blues that is amazingly deep and soulful. "Stairway to Heaven" was played to overkill in the 70's and 80's but listening to it again now you understand why is was so popular. Every song is good on this album and the flow moves from hard rocking to very soft and melodic on songs like "Going to California" and "The Battle of Evermore". It ends with pure delta blues "When the Levee Breaks" (who would have imagined the relationship to New Orleans 34 years later). Page is a master with the guitar and he is underappreciated for his work in the studio. This was recorded with live playing and moving microphones to various locations for effects. No computer enhancement here they had barely been invented at the time.

Sat Mar 25 2006Another overrated piece of Zeppelin feces. Many people were brain-washed into thinking that this band had skill.
by felixnagy
Wed Mar 15 2006A really plastic piece of recording. The poor production, coupled with grating vocals, amateurish drumming, near nonexistant bass playing and Page's irritating guitar timbre all add up to a big fat ZERO!!!!
by doobiesnhof
Tue Mar 14 2006One of the best albums released in the 70s. The monster 'Stairway To Heaven' is here plus 'Rock and Roll' and 'When The Levee Breaks'.
by zeppelin159
Sun Feb 26 2006Stairway to Heaven is a very good song. There is no way that you can't give this album 5 stars.

Mon Feb 13 2006This is one of the greatests albums ever made
by minsun
Mon Jan 30 2006Horrible collection of half baked songs. They can't even play 12 bar blues with any conviction!!! (Rock and Roll ). These guys had no composing talent whatsoever.
by the_stroker
Sat Jan 28 2006An album of juvenile songs written for teenagers. No redeeming features and terrible singing by Plant.
by royale_wcheese
Fri Jan 27 2006Black Dog, Rock and Roll, The Battle of Evermore, Stairway to Heaven, Misty Mounain Hop, Four Sticks, Going to California and When the Levee Breaks. I mean, come on!!! "Has not aged well"??? "Not worthy of inclusion on this list"??? Not only is this the best Led Zeppelin album ever, it's the 3rd best album of the seventies and the 6th best album OF ALL TIME!!! Don't believe me? Just ask me. I've ranked them all.
by cassius111
Sun Dec 25 2005Cliched and tired. Has not aged well
by perfect1
Wed Dec 21 2005Not worthy of inclusion on this list
by djahuti
Sun Dec 11 2005Actually,one of Zeps weaker offerings-redeemed by a few precious nuggets like Black Dog & When the Levee Breaks.
by chris012258
Fri Nov 18 2005The best led zeppelin album. A musical master peice. Page and Plant WERE THE MOST TALENTED writers of the 70's
by frogio
Fri Nov 11 2005Can folk, folklore, R&R; and "magick" transport you to the land of hobbits and heavy metal? Hell yeah. Feel the superhero vibe of a confident band that captured rhythm, hook, emotion, technical brilliance and big-room production, conjuring up the mystical best of their best. Full of bombast and inhabiting a world of its own, it's almost a clinic on how to lay down a groove to a hard-rock riff. "Stairway to Heaven" is played to death but you can't overlook its impact. Take a nap "acemanly". You seem just a slight bit cranky to me.
by goldilocks
Mon Oct 10 2005This album introduced me to Zeppelin because of Stairway. This album open me up to Led Zep and I haven't been the same since! Perfect album by a perfect band.
by kashmir69
Mon Sep 12 2005this album is awesome! i agree with a previous post that is like a greatest hits album, b/c everything on it you've heard. the band included so many influences on this album from blues, folk, jazz, heavy rock....just everything. john paul jones is probably the most underrated musician of all time. if i could give this album 10 stars i would.
by limpin_trenchfoot
Mon Jul 04 2005Track by track I think II and III are more consistent although IV does have one or two more outstanding highlights e.g. 'Rock n roll'.
by zoso18177
Wed May 04 2005You'd think it was a greatest hits CD

Wed Apr 20 2005Dude...Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest rock bands of all time. So is this album...so yeah. It rocks.

Thu Aug 05 2004Absolutely brilliant album...the best Zeppelin album.
by mj210b95
Sat Jul 31 2004Led Zeppelin IV mixes rock and roll the blues and folk rock, it is truly an epic record. The album features the infamous stairway to heaven which slowly builds from a quiet ballad to a full out hard rocking front of guitar riffs and loud solos.Other excellent songs on this album are Black Dog,Rock and Roll,The Battle of Evermore and the bluesy When the Levee Breaks.Led Zeppelin IV is definately considered to be a classic rock and roll album.
by hotel283
Mon Jun 28 2004Not my personal favorite but certainly the most important Zeppelin album. Sadly all the great songs are overshadowed by Stairway (worst Zeppelin song ever!!!!) It really showed their range, Rock and Roll and Battle of Evermore standing out at the poles.
by gopman79
Thu Jan 16 2003Best Led Zepplin album. They hit the high note, with Goin to California, the unbelieveable drumming by Bonham in When the Levee Breaks, the always great Black Dog, and of course, the immortal song that is one of the best, a beautifully crafted masterpiece, Stairway To Heaven.
by jason1972
Thu Oct 17 2002How can you not give this album 5 stars?!? This album served as a template to other masterpieces such as other 5 star albums like "Appettite For Destruction", "License To Ill". Heck, even Garth Brooks loved this album and he's got good tunes as well. Bonzo was very creative when he stuck microhpones at different heightened intervals to get that echo with his drums on 'Levee Breaks'.
by j_orourke
Tue Aug 20 2002A girly singing with Robbie " i got more hair curls than you" on this record sink zep. Listen to drudge of drumming on "Black Dog", just ruins it! Way over rated by fans, Stairway To Hell more like it, get over them! John Paul Jones is the best musician of this group. The untitled album is dull, cover to cover. The gate fold leaves a lot to imagine. LZ III best album cover! First album won a Grammy Award and is the classic album. Still favorite album is LZ II, the first record of this band and bought this in 8th grade in 1970 before it KOOL to like LZ!!! Rock n' Roll is for TEENAGER, not for grade skool punks.
by ellajedlicka21
Fri Oct 19 2001It is a great collection of songs. STH, Black Dog, Rock and Roll, Going to California, it is by far the best material Zeppelin ever released. It is most certainly a top 10 album.
by paulzep
Fri Jul 27 2001This album set the standards for all those rock bands that followed zep. Their music has so much texture to it, listen beyond the basic rhythms, hear the subtleties of the music, don't just judge it on Stairway. Appreciate how it was recorded. The very best of British innovative music.Listen to music today and the influences are there.
by jlosux
Sun Jul 15 2001It would be great if it wasn't so damn overplayed. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth now
by japo8da9
Sun May 20 2001Led-Zeppelin 4 is awesome ,the songs work well together and yet they're all different like black dog, stairway or even the battle of evermore and going to california
by ledzep
Sat Mar 03 2001the whole cd is amazing...stairway to heaven? only the greatest song of all time..need i say more??
by mikeshah
Wed Jan 10 2001"Stairway to Heaven" rules. Jimmy Page's guitar playing on "Going to California." Bonham's drumming on "When the Levee Breaks."
by sus327
Wed Jan 03 2001Listen to this CD if you need help getting up early on a Monday morning. "Black Day" has story beats and lyrics that will keep you guessing (silly willy woman?). "When The Love Breaks" has excellent drum work by John Bonhom(sp?) and if you can't appreciate the beauty of the "Stairway to Heaven," than shame on you.
by laroser
Wed Dec 06 2000Featuring the over played "Stairway to Heaven," Led Zeppelin's untitled album is disappointingly average. Exploring few innovative musicial styles isn't inherently bad for a CD, but when it's as over hyped as IV, it sure isn't good.
by timmy3ad
Mon Dec 04 2000Led Zep - you either love 'em or hate 'em. This is their best known & probably best respected album, and it might not have the sheer passion of their 1st, or the bad-ass rock of their 2nd, but I reckon - yeah- it's their best ever. 'Stairway...' has been done to death but you can't deny it's a brilliant song, & the first two tracks show that Zep can (and did) wipe the floor with any other rock group. The other songs are all great & I love the sound of 'Four Sticks' - nothing else like it. And 'When the Levee Breaks' - what a drum sound! A wall of sound before the term was invented. A classic, and rightly so!
