Yeah, he's no villain. If you compare him to other child stars who were given fabulous wealth and fame before they turned 21, he actually comes across as fairly level headed. I don't particularly like how he threw in the towel with 2 mins left of the Cavs elimination game, and I don't particularly like how he organized a made for TV LeBrachelor event to announce his decision. But he signed with Miami for less money than he would have made in Cleveland, New York, or Chicago, and he gave the proceeds of his tv event to the Boys and Girls club. He wants to win a championship, and judging from the loutish letter written by Cavs owner Dan Gilbert following Lebron's announcement, it's hard to have any faith at all in the Cavs' organization.

I will say this; It was certainly no classy act how he announced his move! As I feel that the Cleveland establishment deserved more from him. Not just because he has played for them for the last 7 years, not even because he has been their star player. But it is about respect to someone who has been playing you a wage and trying to build a team around you!!! Allot of sports people choose the "it's all about me” and yes it is LeBron. But ya could have done it like all the other free agents and not make such an egotistical showing!!!! I feel this will blow over for the rest of the NBA but it will not be so easy for Cleveland to recover so quickly!!!! In my opinion the worst thing that could happen is the Heat win the championship this next season!!! I would not call him a Villain, maybe stupid and irresponsible and a very poor role model, but not a villain!!!

Self-absorbed media hound without question. Villain, not really. Free agents are free to sign wherever they want or wherever they can pry the biggest paycheque out of an owner. (That's the key part of being a FREE agent.) As such, James owes Cleveland fans nothing in terms of where he plays. That being said, there is such a thing as courtesy and ethics, and there is some value in not looking like a trailer trash, Jerry Springer show reject with a desperate need for attention and a frenzied need to pimp your brand. This month long hype fest of where James was going to sign might have been the most asinine thing I've seen in sports. I was listening to radio late on the night that free agents became "free" and some sports show actually did a count-down to "LeBron Free Agent Time." Between shit like that and an hour long (a fucking HOUR LONG) special on "the decision" it was enough to make one weep for the decline of western civilization. James shoulders a good proportion of the b... Read more

I am not someone who keeps track of sports "stars" the only reason I heard of LeBron James is when Tom Izzo the MSU basketball coach was offered a job with Cleveland.there was a big deal made over the possibility of Tom Izzo leaving and LeBron James name came up if he was going to stay with Cleveland. then all the news of that "star" leaving for another team. I for one could care less where he goes. an Hour long special all about this player and "where will he go" I did not watch one second of this news media circus. sounds like another talented athlete with a big ego. why would I want to stroke it by tuning in.not a villain really just self centered.

Big ego? Maybe. Hardly makes you a villain in sports, though.

More trashy than villainous. What kind of a guy decides that he is important enough that he needs a one-hour special called "The Decision" to announce his royal proclamation? And uses a public forum to tell the parties involved instead of working it all out in private? (Couldn't he have had enough class to call the Cleveland owner to explain himself, as reportedly he failed to do?) What's next, a reality show called "The Decision" in which a guy torn between two girlfriends breaks the news to the ladies? Oh wait ... that was called Jerry Springer ...
