Putting it down is one thing, it's the not flushing the toilet, is what really bugs me.

As far as things go in life...if this is his worst habit....let it go!!! Its not that big of a deal...just put it down, and don't start a lame argument.

It's annoying for the most part but it's just as easy for a woman to put it down as it is for a man to lift it up.

RESPECT the next person enough to clean up after yourselves. If you have to go in and take a crap later, you don't want to sit down in a seat full of piss, right?

I think a bigger deal is made then it aught to and I also believe that it is just a cliché that women use to pay men out 'you left the toilet seat up again!' Surely there are bigger things in life to worry about! That is one other irritating thing about women, some of them just seem to focus on little things or make a big issue out of small things. That's why there are so many cat fights. I think there are bigger things in life to worry about. Women should just put the toilet seat down themselves if they want it down.

its not a fun experience when you find it up in the dark and you're half asleep but i should have checked before assuming it was down especially if you live in a house full of guys.

Statistically, guys the whole lid is supposed to be down, when you are finished!!! You wouldn't want to pay a plumber for a hairbrush accidentally geting flushed down, would ya? hehe. I've noticed that recently my husband has a problem operating the toilet seat. Never seemed to be a problem when he was younger.

I want to know why the women in my house can't put the seat back up when they're done using it.

What's the problem, ladies? It's not like a toilet seat is hard to operate. If you sit down without putting the seat down, maybe you need to get checked out on that bathroom equipment again.

If women could learn to work the dam thing, men would not have a problem. Look before you sit down, you never know what is waiting for you?

Women always complain about this because they don't want to fall in, but maybe men leave it up so you won't complain that they've peed on the seat again. I complain sometimes about this, but most of the time I just simply look before I sit down.

We are half the population. We like it down. Why do believe it is your divine right to complain like you've lost a kidney everytime the seat is up? Let it go, or develop an ulcer facing the ineviteable. . .

That is why I always look down to see if it needs to be put down, but the guy should have the consideration to put the seat back down anyway.

I think if the female sits down on the toilet with the toilet seat up a few times, maybe she will learn to look first ! Who started this trend that it is the responsibility of every man to put the toilet seat up? Give me a break ! I think it only takes a second or two to put that seat back down....laziness is never a good virtue...

leaving the seat up is probably a better alternative than leaving it down and praying i hit the bowl.

Why are woman so annoyed at this? I'm a woman can they not put it down also or even put it up once in a while knowing that their husband or man of the house is going to use the toliet. I mean it's not the end of the world if the toliet seat is up or down.

Another vote for kamylienne's sane solution.

Once again - kamylienne nails the fair and practical method. If he won't abide by this, a couple of swirlees and a pop on the nose with a rolled up newspaper should drive the point home. Tee hee.

Doesn't irritate me much--if I don't take the time to look down before sitting my rear on the toilet, then I get what I deserve. Women often complain that men don't take the effort to put the seat down, but why don't women take the effort to put it down themselves? The best compromise I've come across: both sexes putting both the seat cover and toilet seat down after use--it stops the cat from trying to drink from the toilet, too, as a bonus.
