The Appeal This is one of the nicest theaters in town, and there's not a bad seat in the house--the stage is highly visible no matter where you sit, especially the balcony. Le Petit also has a beautiful patio worth exploring during intermission. This is the venue in town for true community-theater buffs. It's a mostly older, well-heeled crowd, courtly sprinkled with tourists taking in an old Southern experience, plus a scattering of yuppies with very few hipsters. The Background One of the oldest theaters in the country, it's in the heart of the historical French Quarter surrounded by the Pontalba Apartments, the Cabildo, Jackson Square and St. Louis Cathedral. Jenny Lind, a famed 1800s songstress, frequently performed at Le Petit and lived across the street in the Pontalba.
