I really liked this show when Jeff (Tommy Rettig) was the star. The Timmy era sucked big time. Still a good show for the little kids though. I don't remember who the Mom was during the Jeff era but it wasn't June Lockhart. The mother and son lived with her Dad (Gramps) on his farm.

I would watch it with my son when he was 2-3 years old. He watched the Lassie and Timmy show. It was so cute watching him sitting in his little rocking chair watching Lassie. When it was over and the music was over Lassie would put up her paw as if to wave, and my son would wave back and say bye to Lassie. It was so sweet to watch.

How sweet, a dog that was smarter than the townfolk. Little Timmy you monstrous SISSY, SIT DOWN AND EAT YOUR COOKIES AND MILK OR I'LL SLAP THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF YOU.

How could Timmys parent continue to let him out of the house, when a dog has to save him every week? Also, you never see any farm animals or crops, but the father always has a new truck- just what was he growing anyway? What was in the mother's brownies?

The tender, heartwarming stories of a child's devotion to his pet. The earlier episodes with 11-year-old Jeff (played by Tommy Rettig) were really the better ones. I say that these programs are great viewing for all ages, especially for animal lovers.

It was so corny but I have a dog like Lassie and her name is Chelsea so I give it 4 stars. Ruf Ruf

Dog was beautiful and intelligent, but it was the same thing week after week. Now if only the dog could talk, and say something like he needs saved again timmy, humans around here sure are dumb, and you think we're dumb for drinking out of the toliet?!

I loved Jeff's Collie and Timmy And Lassie as a kid. If I were rating it back then I would have given it a 5. Unfortunately I seem to have grown out of it some. When I watch reruns now it just seems boring. But it's still a nice, innocent show that I would let my kids watch. There is one amusing thing I have noticed all along. There were a lot of times that if you followed the plot carefully, you would notice that Lassie created some of the problems she eventually rescued people out of.

A sweet show about a beautiful devoted Collie named Lassie. It started in the early 50s and went up until about 1970. It is a bit hard to except the fact that the Lassie would have been around that long. She started out with Jeff, than went to Timmy than Corey the ranger guy.I liked it when she was with Timmy the best. Lassie always looked out for her owners.I am a big dog lover and this is a show you could watch as a family. I am not sure how many collies they used in the 20 years. If I catch Lassie on one of our cable channels I still will watch this sometimes.

Lassie was a very popular show for a very long time. It was wholesome, family entertainment that left you with an alls-right-with-the-world feeling. People got into that 30+ years ago and, unless you began to feel that life should be this way all the time (and most people didn’t), I think it was a pretty mentally healthy way to feel from time to time. This may be a very hard concept for today's TV viewers to digest considering they are used to a diet of anything-goes sex, foul language, sarcasm and the other snide aspects of a society on the decline. When I think of all the trash that passes for entertainment and how we just keep overlooking it year after year as it gets nastier and nastier, I long for the days of a simple show like “Lassie”. I never thought I would see the day that such a harmless show about a sweet collie dog would not only go unappreciated – even for what it represented at the time – but now actually seems to offend some people. How pathetic.

I loved watching the reruns as a child, but it seems so boring now. I don't think it would ever last half a season today.

Lassie is a totally boring and dull show, but it recieves all of it's credit for running for 2 decades, a record in itself, and it deserves full credit. I just didn't get how such a boring show could last for 20 years?
