    The closest I ever came was Reno and Lake Tahoe, when I was a kid. I have absolutely no interest in gambling or casinos, per se, but Ben "Bugsy" Siegel, the gangster who supposedly "invented" Las Vegas (he didn't, but that's another story...), was, next to Legs Diamond and "Crazy Joe" Gallo, one of my primary childhood heroes, and reading about the Flamingo Hotel and Casino over the years, it seemed an appropriate "shrine" to his memory, and a place I would have liked to have visited. Back in the day, all the casinos in Vegas...the Thunderbird, the Dunes, the Sands, the Aladdin...were "shrines" to one gangster or another. Now, of course, I understand that they've all been pretty much torn down and replaced by garish, corporate monstrosities, which means I've gone from having not much of a reason to visit Vegas to having almost no reason at all.     I myself have come pretty close to getting kicked out of a hotel and a friend of mine owes one of his kids to a trip to Vegas.

    Never been, I don't gamble, drink, or do drugs, so it doesn't seem like a place for me unless they have 'interracial public dykery' going on in place of Steve and Edie at some casino...

    I'm not the gambling type, so I'd want to see it for the: lights, fountains, architecture in general etc.

    I love Vegas and I can't wait until I get the chance to go there again! I always enjoy the architecture of the buildings!
