Sat Jun 17 2006Initially I didnt like it because it made things too awkward. Because you could only see one part of the screen at a time. I like being able to skim over things quickly or see the page at a glance, not just one side of the page. Even now, Im still not a big fan of the larger print. But Im going to give it a 4 because for a start, I must admit that the larger print is easier on the eyes, but the main reason is it caters for people who dont have good eyesight. I suppose it is all too easy for a fully sighted person to get frustrated at the new changes, but if it helps someone who doesnt have the privilege of full sight, well that is a real plus for me. It is great that RIA is catering for people who may not have good sight. A real plus, because it is not only fair on them but it allows more people to come onto RIA ie RIA isnt just for those who can read the print now. This is good because in the long run, the opinions on RIA will be more diverse.

Sun May 07 2006A mixed bag - it makes the site and posts more easy to read, so it scores for functionality. But aesthetically speaking....it's the pits. Conveys all the charm and literation of a McDonalds billboard, but I gotta give it at least an "OK" because of the afformentioned functionality, which might attract more users from the geriactric set, which, I guess is what they were after.

Wed Apr 19 2006I either need eleven foot arms or I need to blow the dust off the ol' 15" monitor....AND, by the way, has anybody seen Djahuti's home page picture since this revamp...I nearly crapped my pants!

Wed Apr 19 2006I guess it may be helpful to some people, but it sacrifices a lot of page space.I liked being able to skim 20 reviews on a single page!

Tue Apr 18 2006I think the font size on the new version of the site is way too large. Is RIA trying to cater to the elderly, who by large print books because their eyesight is failing? The type on the older version might have been small, but I think a font size somewhere closer to the old design would be much better than what they have now.

Tue Apr 18 2006I like it...Good for those rating from home. Not so good if you are rating covertly from the workplace, I imagine.

Tue Apr 18 2006I have no problem with the new font size, if it helps somebody to see better then this is a good thing that RIA has done. I am sure they have had requests to enlarge it, so kudos to RIA!

Tue Apr 18 2006this feature is nice. i do not have to squint to read what others say. and for me to write my reviews on things. me and nearsighted eyes welcome this feature.

Tue Apr 18 2006Really and truly I'm considering others who may have seen the old font size as too small. At least with this size theres no excuse for spelling mistakes, unless you come on here drunk or high (lol).

Tue Apr 18 2006I really like the larger font. Admittedly, I spend way too much time on RIA, but the larger font makes for much easier reading.

Tue Apr 18 2006Too big for me. I use the computers at the library a lot and some have the desktop much larger than I used to keep mine. On those computers I constantly have to move the page to see it.........

Tue Apr 18 2006I LOVE the larger font, both for my eyesight and for the fact that it makes it much easier to spot those pesky typos.

Tue Apr 18 2006When looking at the site at the first time, I couldn't help but to think about that scene in that awful "Deuce Bigalow" movie where a man with an thick accent exclaims "Holy Sh!@, it's Bigfoot!" That's the initial reaction that I get. I do like being able to sit way back in my chair while typing (though it's kinda hard to be an "Angry Asian chick" when I'm slouching in my chair), and I definately see a great benefit in this for optically-challenged individuals. It could probably risk being etched down a font size or two without sacrificing readability, but it's generally a good call.

Tue Apr 18 2006The new larger font size on the ratings box will help out primarily in quickly identifying grammatical and spelling errors. The smaller font made it more difficult to proofread.
