Thu May 11 2006Lance was also a great blocking WR. He was a thrill to watch and he did get the chance at the end of his career to play on the Super Bowl champion Dallas Cowboys in 1972. He was a 9.6 100 yard dash man back in the early sixties as an Arkansas Razorback.

Thu Aug 19 2004The late 1960s were a time of great wide receivers. But foremost among them was the great Lance Alworth. 'Bambi', who was so nicknamed because of his graceful leaping ability and his boyish good looks, was in reality a hard-nosed player with a knack for catching the ball in any precarious situation. Definitely, Alworth is deserving of the respect he now garners.

Thu May 15 2003"Bambi" was the greatest receiver of the 1960's, possibly the best ever until Rice came along. Had great speed and incredible hands. San Diego was never on a par with the Chiefs, Raiders or Jets during the 60's, and that cost Alworth much of the fame he deserves.
