Labrador Retriever/ Poodle mixes (aka "Labradoodles") are mutts. Period. End of story. And to pay the RIDICULOUS prices for these dogs is just foolish. First off, you cannot get a Labradoodle from a reputable breeder. Why? Because a reputable breeder "proves" their breeding stock in some way. This can be either conformation showing or working titles. Labradoodles weren't bred for a particular job so there goes testing their working ability. And since they are not purebred, they cannot be tested to see how well they conform to the breed standard. And while yes, some breeds were created by crossing different breeds originally, some weren't. They are many ancient breeds that have no record of ever being crossed with other breeds; the Saluki, Swedish Vallhund, and Carolina Dog all come to mind. And the breeds that were crossed were crossed for a purpose, to create a better working dog. And it wasn't like "lets cross these 2 dogs and put a cutesy name on it", it was more like "what breed ca... Read more

Trying to legitimize a mixed breed by giving it a cute 'combined name' is foolish. The real name for this dog is "mutt"

As an owner of a Labradoodle I can validate them as being the only breed that is 99% allergy and asthma free. I have suffered from both ailments due to pets my entire life until I got a Labradoodle. Wonderful temperment, very bright, and easy to train ( he rings a bell on our door when he needs to go out.) They are void of aggression so they do not make good security dogs but they are indeed good watch dogs and very teritorial. They come in three sizes and many colors. This is what you want if you always wanted a dog but always got sick from the breeds people claimed were hypoallergetic.

NOT A BREED! And I'm not talking about the AKC wannabe gods' missing stamp of approval, but tell me what you get when you breed a Labradoodle and a Labradoodle? Certainly not a litter of Labradoodles!!! One half thumb up for the attempt to improve on both breeds' health by mixin' it up in the ol' genepool...

Smart, friendly, polite, highly trainable. Perfect for families because they want everyone to be included.
