I have only a passing familiarity with his work on MTV so I can't really comment on the bulk of his tele-journalism, but he is a fine correspondant on a lot of other shows and his work as a writer and editor was fairly solid, if a little pop culture centric.  I've always admired his strict adherance to his post punk German industrial style ethos.  Nobody wears the look better.

If you think I'm just having fun trashing MTV, yeah, you're right. Three! Three one star ratings for MTV items. Ha ha Ha!

I once called this guy at his office to get some information on an artist and he never called me back. Who does he think he is, The Godfather? He looks like a cross between Jeffrey Tambor and the Hunchback of Notre Dame. He gets a big thumbs down!

I am pleased that MTV has stuck with Kurt Loder as their elder host when they have been notorious for kicking out former hosts once they turn 30 or so. They want to be stuck in the 20s, why don't they continue with them later on? Loder's sharp, outspoken, and he loves to interview Madonna--he just handles her better than most people! Clearly one of the best on that network.

Sad...I hope he's bangin' a groupie here and there. Otherwise, no one pays any attention to him.

Added to give legitamacy to MTV. Only sacrificed his own legitimacy by joining them

Although some of their current anchors could use all the tutoring he can give, he has been wasting away at MTV News for too long and is more than ready for the big time.

Why is he here? He's just another celebrity reporter (whose specialty is music).

Mr Loder, 1984 just called. It said your time has past. Go home please; your space on Hollywood Squares is waiting.

Grow up dude. You were irrelevant in 1989; you're a joke today. You are to news as MTV is to...MUSIC VIDEOS (nothing).

He should have given it up years ago. Way too over the hill to be doing MTV news.

Another insignificant no-talent that the suits in the Executive Programming Department insist on shoving down our throats. I've never heard this guy come up with anything clever, compelling, important or even moderately informative. And that deadpan sardonic delivery is a really pathetic attempt at "cool." And what qualifies this guy to report on anything? What does he really know about music? A real waste.

Now, HERE is a quality news anchor! I think he could be a reporter or an anchor most anywhere he chooses to do so. Long live Kurt Loder.

i kinda like this guy cause you can detect the sarcasm in his voice when he reads news flashes about rock stars acting stupid. and the fact that he's so smug keeps him from brown-nosing all the stars (at least he doesn't seem to).

What a lame job to have devoted your life to... He also loses points for some minor errors in the liner notes he wrote for the Velvet Underground reissues back in the 80s...

I'm giving him a 3 for staying power alone. I'm mean this guys been around for as long as I can remember. Sure he's a drip but maybe that's his secret. Big personalities that mirror the times get changed when the style changes. He's mister neutral and keeps on keeping on. But tell me he isn't Rick Ocasiks (sp?) long lost brother.

Sometimes I think Kurt Loder's "square guy" act is mildly amusing, and, when he does interviews, his lack of personality makes it easy to focus on the interviewee. But other times I wonder how this goofy guy became a key news anchor for MTV. Is he really good at anything? Am I missing something?

Kurt always seems a little too smug and condescending like the big brother who is forced to chaperone his little brother's first boy-girl party.

You have to give him points for longevity. On a network whose personalities get replaced Menudo style as soon as the wrinkles and grey hair starts to appear, Kurt Loder has been hanging in there for a while. Maybe the thinking is that for MTV News, it's not a bad thing if the announcer looks like he's been around the block.
