My Golden Retriever loves it and seems very healthy. For all of you who believe it is so unhealthy to eat, please show some scientific evidence to back it up (if any exists). Personal testimonials are interesting but really just meaningless statistically. I am honestly open to change the food to something natural, healthy and expensive if I can see where it really benefits my dog. I was particulary concerned about Kibbles and tried to see if there was proof. I found a large but non-scientific longevity study through the Golden Retriever sites.net website and you can actually filter the study by type of dog food. I was amazed to see that at least in this study there seemed to be absolutely no coorelation at all between length of life and what brand of dog food they ate. Average age of death for a Golden is about 11.1 years. Average age on Kibbles and Bits diet was about 11.5. (Only 48 admitted to kibbles) Science Diet had hundreds of entires but averaged out to 11.1 or so. A... Read more

This is one of the very worst dog foods ever made. Even a few minutes of research would benefit you and your dog if you think this is a good food.

Our giant schnauzer is 9 yrs old and she has been eating K&B for most of her life. She is extremely fit, super energetic and has a show quality, gorgeous coat. We recently took in an 11 yr old standard poodle suffering with the worst eye allergies, lack of energy and stiff joints. He was previously eating Science Diet small bites because as we were told, he would throw up any other foods. However, he still threw up the Science Diet food at every meal! We gradually mixed the two foods to wean him off the Science Diet. It has been two months and he loves the K&B, has boundless energy and he no longer has allergy eyes. Most noticeably, he hasn't thrown up once since we changed his diet. It's working wonderfully for our happy and healthy family.

I Had my 2 year old Boxer on Pedigree and never had a problem with his health, i switched to kibbles 'n bits about two months ago because i tought it would be nice to give my dog something different but now i started noticing that he's getting skinnier and he has been trowing up every now and then, when i looked at his puke i noticed the pieces of kibbles and bits, something is not right with this food, it cant be worms because he gets his heartworm medication every month, i dispossed of the remaining kibbles and bits i had left as soon as i realized how awful this dog food was and went back to pedigree. Dont feed this dog food to your dog if you want them to be healthy.

ingredients: corn, soybean meal, beef and bone meal, ground wheat flour, animal fat (bha used as preservative), corn syrup, wheat middlings.... This is one of the worst dog foods ever. I personally would never give crack 5 stars. There are a few affordable and good foods out there, like kirkland and diamond naturals, that are far superior to this garbage. BHA causes cancer. If I had a picky eater, I would feed rice and canned wild salmon or chicken and mix a better quality kibble in bit by bit to get them used to good food. I totally understand people not being able to afford some brands especially with a bigger dog, but you don't have to spend an arm and a leg. What the heck are wheat middlings...? UPDATE: out of curiosity, I just found "wheat middlings" on wikipedia: "Wheat middlings is an inexpensive byproduct intermediate of human food processing, commonly referred to as floor sweepings. It is an inexpensive filler in pet food and a basis for manufacturing semolina. " o... Read more

IT LIKE CRACK FOR DOGS... MY PUPPY LOVE IT. I TRIED IAMS , KIRKLAND, ROYAL GAIN #33 CAN FOOD SUCH PEDIAGREE, CEASER WHICH BY THE WAY IS THE CLOSEST THAT HE EVER EATS. I DON'T MIND PAY FOR IT EITHER, BUT THE MALTIPOO WONT EAT.. I HAVE LEFT OVER CANS FROM EVERY DIFFERENT MANUFACTURE. I REMEMBER MY WIFE WAS MAKING MEATBALLS THE PUPPY WENT NUTS WITH THE SMELL. I WENT TO THE BOWL AND FEED HIM QUALITY PUPPY WITH HARDLY FILLERS AND NOTHING. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH ON LINE AND FOUND MOST DOGS CANT RESIST THIS STUFF, WHICH I AGREE 100%... I GIVE HIM KIBBLES N BITS AND I HAVE TO LIMIT HIM HE WENT NUTS. I WILL SWITCH LATER OR MIX IT UP WITH QUALITY FOOD, BUT HEY ITS LIKE GOING TO WHITE CASTLE OR MCD'S FOR HIM... GREAT CRACK FOOD MCD'S OR CASTLE FOOD,,,, BUT AT LEAST HE IS EATING... SOME PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT EVERYTHING OR HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT COMPLAIN.. BUT ITS DOG FOOD AFTER ALL AND ITS BETTER THAN STARVING... ITS THE NEXT BEST THING THAN FEEDING PEOPLE FOOD.

There is nothing in this food that is good quality. I would never feed anything this food. I have seen dogs on this food and have terrible thinning coats, awful itchy skin. Huge and always seems to be loose stool. Dogs have no energy and act ancient. The only meat used is poultry meal and ummmm what kind of poultry is it chicken is it duck what is it? uses corn and soy bean meal. Uses food coloring and Im sorry but my dog doesnt care what color his food is.

Kibbles 'n Bits almost killed my 3 dogs. Recently I was so frightened, I sent my children to the store and they bought a huge bag of Kibbles n Bits to feed to all three of our girls. We have a 14 year old poodle mix (pound puppy), a 1 1/2 yr old rottie mix (someone threw her away) and a 10 year old corgie (another throw away) and my boys thought they would get the girls some "fancy" food. It took about 4 days before I noticed they were sleeping a lot and vomiting a lot and pooping a lot, the smallest dog we for sure thought we were going to lose because she was throwing up so much and was losing body mass that she couldn't afford to lose. When I noticed all of the girls got sick at the same time and the cat wasn't sick I knew it had to be the change. I took it away from them and fed them rice and chicken for about a week and now they are starting to feel much better, have a little light in their eyes and they are playing together again instead of sleeping all the time. I had to... Read more

horrible, horrible nutrition. Absolutely evil. If dog food could be demonic, this stuff would be Beelzebub, the Lord of the Flies. There are absolutely NO redeeming qualities to this food. The ingredients list is an unending nightmare of crap. Corn, wheat, and soy are some of the top allergens and undigestible ingredients you can put in pet food. Kibbles n' Bits lists corn as their first ingredient, soy as their second, and wheat as their fourth. The third ingredient? Meat waste. They then use fat rendered from rancid slaughterhouse scrap and roadkill (yes, you read that right, ROADKILL) and preserve that fat with BHA/BHT, a proven liver toxin and carcinogen. So, after they make your dog itch itself half to death with allergies, they then poison the liver and cause cancer? Nice! But that's not all. K n' B then uses corn syrup in their dog food. Dogs are carnivores. High sugar levels can induce diabetes in omnivores like people. In canine digestion and metabolism, it's e... Read more

I know the nutrition isn't great on this product... but for one of my chows its changed his life. We have tried every kind of dog food, Pedigree, Iams, the sciencediet stuff, wet/dry food mixed together, and he just wouldn't eat. He would wait until he was starving and swallow a couple bites down. My other chow, he doesn't care so when we got him we just started both on pedigree for about a year now rather than switching around and giving the little one diarrhea. But my older chow became extremely tired and sleepy all the time and also very constipated. He would yelp everytime he'd poop and he'd only poop about twice-three times a week. The look in his eyes when he'd poop, you could tell he was scared about pooping and it broke my heart. We had the vet check his poop and check him and she couldn't tell us why he was like that. So finally my fiance's mom, who feed all four of her dogs kibbles, took our dogs in for a month while we went on vacation and got them hooked on kibbles. When I ... Read more

This food is a life saver! I tried absolutely everything to get my dog to eat. I tried other grocery store brands, premium foods, super premium foods, grain free foods, even a couple homecooked recipes, and my picky dog would just turn his nose up at everything. I thought I would give this a try for the heck of it and I was absolutely thrilled to see him completely clean his bowl! I have not noticed any change in his stool or coat, as others here have said, so luckily he is doing great on this food. I am even able to sneak a little bit of premium food in with the kibbles n bits and he doesn't seem to notice. So, bottom line, if you have an incredibly picky dog like mine, this food is definitely worth giving a try. My dog is finally putting on some weight and I couldn't be happier or more relieved to finally find a food he eats and does well on.

Ugg... Kibbles N Bits... what can I say? It's basically like freakin' Oreo cookies. There's a reason it tested best in the TASTE test and not the health. It was obviously made to appeal to the dog so the dog would like it. But, we can't feed our dogs chocolate just cuz they like it, ay? The same way we can't feed them junk like Kibbles N Bits just cuz they like it. When I first took my dachshund mix, Sandy, in, she was on Kibbles N Bits. I knew nothing about nutrition back then so I actually thought that by keeping her on it, I was doing her a favor. Well, for the first three months of her life here she'd constantly throw up yellow, smelly stool looking puke that very often included pieces of- guess what, folks?- Kibbles N Bits. The vet suggested switching her diet as- guess what?- she is perfectly healthy. So, I bought a can of Pedigree and a bag of Pedigree. She did okay on that. She ceased throwing up and she seemed a bit happier. She has a sensitive stomache and is ESPECIALLY sensi... Read more

I have to say, based on the ingredients, this is one of the worst dog foods on the market.  I don't have any other observations from client's dogs because most of my clients get their dog food at pet stores which no longer carry this food in our area.  Regardless- you wouldn't think that a food with corn syrup in it was healthy for yourself or your children- and its the same with your dog.  Always read the list of ingredients no matter what the front of the bag tells you!!!

Kibble and bits top ingerdients include corn, soybean oil, ground wheat flour, beef and bone meal, animal fat, preservatives, corn syrup, wheat middlings, water, beef, and animal digest.  If you would not eat this why would you expect your dog too?  He/she depends on you to take care of them.

I feed this to my dogs and they are just fine and the oldest one is still doin just fine on her diet of kibbles n' bits. I do not appreciat the fact that it is insenuated that i do not deserve to own a dog if all I can give it is this food. I know that this is probably not the highest quality food out there but it meets standards and that is enough.

Okay - the scary part - years ago I used this because Consumer Reports advised it was the best tasting! Which, obviously, has nothing to do with healthfulness. So throw out your bag of Kibble n bits, as well as your subscription to Consumer Reports. Once again - go to www.dogfoodanalysis.com to learn about dog food nutrition. Also there is a fabulous white paper on canine nutrition on the champion pet foods' website.

Please don't feed your dogs this "stuff". You ARE NOT SAVING MONEY! It costs much more to feed this because you have to give them so much more because there are so few nutrients in it. So, you pay for more packaging, you have to carry more around, your dog gets gas from the fillers, AND you have huge piles in the yard! I have a 73 lb active German shepherd, with a really good food she only needs to eat about 3 cups a day with the addition of fresh scrambled eggs, yogurt and fruits and veggies. You'd have to feed at least twice as much of this food. Yuch! And I forgot other added costs to feeding cheap foods like this one....the extra vet bills and losing your dog at much too young an age. Read the ingredients and the feeding guidelines on bags before you buy. I've never seen a good food sold at a grocery store, you'll have to find a large pet store, vet or delivery to get better food into your dog.

Just don't do it.  You're supposed to love your dog, not hate him/her.  If you run out of food in the middle of the night, pull out some meat from your freezer, thaw it and cook just a bit to insure your dog doesn't get worms.  Give them that, don't go to your grocer and even think of buying this.  It killed my childhood dog because my parents didn't know any better.  As an adult, I have educated them and everyone else I run into.

This food is saturated in fats and sugars so it will taste better for your dog. Good foods should not need this, plus it's horrible for your dog's health.

This is the absolute worst crap you can feed your dog. If this is the only food you can afford, you should not even have a dog because you know nothing about canine nutrition, and  if you cannot afford anything better for him to eat, you obviously do not have enough money for veteranary treatment. I am surprised this stuff is legal. There is probably more nutrition in an old leather boot. Just fillers and other mystery ingredients of unknown origin. Get Eukanuba or Hill's, just something other than this toxic waste.

Inadequate meat content, use of low quality ingredients throughout, soy, fat of unidentifiable origin, carcinogenic preservative, artificial colourant. This is a very low quality product that receives a 1 star rating simply because there is nothing lower. The primary ingredient in this food is a low quality grain. Corn is a problematic grain that is difficult for dogs to digest and thought to be the cause of a great many allergy and yeast infection problems. We prefer not to see this used in dog food. The second ingredient is soybean meal. Soy is a poor quality source of protein in dog food, and a common cause of allergy problems. Some believe that it is the number 1 cause of food allergies in dogs (outstripping even wheat). The third ingredient is a low quality meat product, in meal form. This is the sole meat product in the food. The use of wheat is a significant negative: wheat is believed to be the number one cause of allergy problems in dog food. This is another ingredien... Ok, this is the worst of all the dog foods I've reviewed so far (notice that the person who rated this a 5 didn't even have enough courage to leave a comment). This food really shows how low the AAFCO standard are. Out of the first four ingredients, the first three are grains. And then the forth is bone meal. The worst part about this food is that they preserve it with BHA which is known to promote stomach and urinary cancer. (By the By, this preservative can also be found in Hill's prescription diet). THis food is literally cancer in a bag, how it is still in buisness is beyond me. Please research what you feed your dogs, it could add 5-10 years onto your dogs life. Some reccomendations are Nature's Variety, Innova, Solid Gold, or Wellness. All Natural is the way to go!

There isn't anything in this food that isn't filler. Horrible for dogs with allergies, sensitive stomachs, or well.. just horrible in general. No nutritional quality, and will give your dog terrible gas, bad, oily coat and nasty breath. Spend the extra $5 and get em something edible, please.

This is the best my grocery store, Ks&B;'s Homestyle, offered at the time I needed dog food, like many I often have only grocery dog food to choose from. Saying that, just looking at the 1st 3 ingredients tells everything - corn, soybean meal, ground wheat flour. Many dogs are allergic to soybeans, corn is a cheap empty filler and the wheat flour is sweepings. Looking at he large front blurb on the pakage it says "grilled beef steak and vegetable flavor" there is no real whole beef in this. It also uses animal fat which can be anything. Primo barely likes it, smart dog. Will be getting Natural Balance from Jeffer's and reviewing it here since no one's done it.
