Fri Nov 19 2010My number 1 favorite place in the whole wide world! Fabulous nightlife, some seriously great bars and clubs, beaches are beautiful, especially Smathers and Higg's beach. It's paradise!

Sat Feb 06 2010I went to Key West last March on a Spring Break cruise. It was so charming and cute--I could have spent hours walking around the streets of town and disappear among the many tourist shoppes and unique restaurants. There were a few odd people walking around, but then again, Key West is known for being eclectic! The beach is a long walk from the pier, so we never saw it. I did a snorkeling tour with FURY water adventures. Two thumbs WAY up on them! They were professional, laid back and fun. Lovely coral reef! Very cool shore excursion. I would love to go back to Key West and spend more time so I could check out the beaches and Hemingway's house.

Wed Jun 24 2009Personally, I get bored in Key West. There is a lot of shopping and dining and that is nice, but I don't like their beaches. I mean its a great place is you just want to take it slow, but its not my cup of tea.

Thu Aug 07 2008The Keys are quite gorgeous, but are best in small doses. Key West is kind of a party town that is full of tourists and probably not the best place to live in because of that. There is excellent key lie pie though!

Sat Feb 16 2008Overrated. Pricey and filled with tourists. The best (and only good) part of my visit was the sunset celebration at Mallory Square. Too bad our sunset was blocked out by a cruise ship.

Fri Jan 19 2007I had loads of fun when I was here last year. Since I came here from a cruise ship, I didn't get a chance to drive across the other keys along Route 1, which looks like it would be filled with absolutely stunning scenery. The city struck me as New Orleans-esque, with a sort of French Quarter feel throughout the whole city, only with beautiful beaches and a more friendly, laid-back atmosphere. There's even a main street similar to Bourbon called Duval street, which is filled with bars, shops, restuarants and the like. I would definitely like to go back and visit this place again. The one beach I went to was weird and unlike Florida beaches on the mainland. There was a lack of sand, and instead the whole coast was filled with coral rocks. Nonetheless it was a unique experience and I'd rather have that than a generic "beautiful" beach. Overall, it truely looks like an awesome combination of a beach community and a city bustling with great nightlife, history and culture from what i've obse... Read more

Sun Feb 06 2005I enjoy the FL Keys, great fishing, diving, and scenery. The drive on US-1 is definitely one of the best in the nation; in fact, it was a great feat of engineering. As for Key West, it definitely has a lot of character and more history than the average Florida city, however it doesn't have much to keep the visitor in town. It has the feel of a cheap tourist trap at times, like many places in this state. The Keys are definitely must see, but also try to explore the upper and middle islands as well. Always good to explore outside the beaten path.

Thu Feb 03 2005The pier accommodates three giant cruise ships so that about 4500 new tourists can visit about a hundred tourist shops every day. The scenery is dull, as is the whole chain of Keys. One truly good reason for visiting Key West is to take advantage of fishing, diving, and water sports. They have lots and lots of beautiful clear tropic water. The warm winter weather is suitable to being totally idle. That's about it. The local high school teams are The Conchs -- I guess they admire persistence rather than speed.

Wed Jan 26 2005I was offered an auditing job that would bring me out here, and my brother went to visit because I didn't have the time. He found it to be overrated, overpriced, kinda boring and blistering. Florida communities don't seem to understand the concept of shade, or public transportation, to help people enjoy being outside. Travel guides all falsely tout these tourist traps for their own profit.

Mon Nov 15 2004Ticky-tacky. The drive from Miami is stunning, but the city itself is filled with tourists and touristy shops. The sunsets are spectacular, but you don't need the city of Key West to see those.

Mon Oct 25 2004Only one road leads into it, and now i see why! Not just because it is an island, but because the locals are crazy, and it is overrated

Wed Sep 22 2004It is worth going here just for the drive across the keys to get here. It's like you're driving over the ocean. Key West itself is a bust, overpriced tourist trap bars and restaurants, and really no beaches no speak of.

Mon Feb 09 2004Vastly overrated. I can't believe they make you pay a toll just to get in and out of the city. Also can't believe the hotels charge extra if you're from out of the state!
