Mon Sep 07 2009Hi, I bought a well maintained kawasaki 97 model 1100stx with 180hours on it. The machine has never missed a beat. It now has over three hundred hours on it I've done a top end rebuild and cleaned the carbs due to the age of the motor. The pistons were still like new after 180 hours and the crank perfect. I would definitely buy another kawasaki its the only brand of Jet ski thats never let me down.

Fri Nov 07 2008I just had my 2002 Kawasaki 1100 winterize and the technician informed me to sell it before the computer dies. It will cost approx. 1700.00 to repair, when it happens. He stated that this a problem with the 1100 and that is the reason why they do not manufacture them.

Sat Mar 22 2008Now that my skie has 115 hours my 1100 stx di 2000. I have intermittent power. Since my last post the ski did great for 60 hours then now it has major power problems. Some dealer says it might be the computer which can be 1500.00. Another really anoying problem is after the ski sits for a while the crank case fills with oil and when you start it it burns all the oil and smokes up the lake. So much for a eco friendly ski!

Wed May 02 2007I have a 1998 stx 1100 I bought Last year. I used it once and the oil hose fell off a cylinder. The piston froze and blew a hole through the piston. I sent it to WaterCraft Engine Technologies in New Mexico which SUCKS they are a bunch of lame asses and it took me 1 (year) to get it back no kidding. DO NOT SEND YOUR ENGINE THERE. I have not rode it since I got it back.

Sun Oct 16 2005I own a 2003 Kawasaki 1100 STX DI. I have never had a problem with it. Its done 75 hours in 10 months. I have serviced it twice and use it most weekends. I can tow skis, wake boards and tubes. I can wave jump it up wards of 3 metres and can carry 3 passengers at a time (not while wave jumping). Top speed of 103 km/h on Brisbane River. Great Toy if you look after it. Fairly fuel efficient getting upwards of 100km per trip.

Thu Jul 22 2004I bought a 1999 kawasaki 1100 stx and after only 40 hours the engine seized up and left me my wife and our 8 yr old daughter stranded in the middle of the lake. There were no warning indicators that went off. This is inexcusable. brad mendenhall

Fri Jun 25 2004I bought a 2000 1100 STX DI. The ski worked perfectly for three seasons, minus a bad solenoid. However, the 4th season has brought me much anger. After having the ski winterized at an authorized Kawasaki dealer, the ski engine blew within 5 minutes of running this spring. There is no excuse for a moderately used ski to blow it's engine after three seasons of use and proper maintenance. Neither Kawasaki nor their authorized dealer will take the blame or help with the problem. I think Kawasaki SUCKS and their dealers do too. I just bought the Honda 4 stroke and will NEVER buy another Kawasaki product. Also, stay away from Pete's Cycles in Severna Park Maryland. They are unqualified and the biggest bunch of jack asses I've ever met.

Mon Mar 31 2003I bought a Kawasaki Jet Ski 1100STX DI and I have gone through to exhaust hoses. I called Kawasaki and they said to check the fittings. Well I did and did not find any blockage.

Sun Dec 22 2002My 2000 Kawasaki 1100 has had nothing but problems since the first month I put the unit in the water. I might first mention that I am 67 years old, do not race and have been boating for 25 years. The first year we operated the ski for about 25 hours due to the fact that it had a series of overheating problems and 2 factory recalls. I might mention that I bought the ski in the spring of 91 as a leftover. The second year, after a total of 4 months and 50 hours of operation the engine came unglued. This is a total time on the ski of 50 hours. Since it was out of warranty KW said they would not pay for the repair, but would pay for parts. This cost me $860 for labor and the rest of the boating season. For some reason the #1 cylinder went to full lean and caused the engine to detonate. At no time was there any indication of a problem on the engine monitoring system. Since KW would not reveal to me or the mechanic what caused the problem, I now have a ski that I would hesitate to take o... Read more

Fri May 03 2002The Kawasaki 1100 STX DI: Last summer I bought my wife and I a pair of matching 1100 STX DI’s. When there not in the shop there great! about a total of four (4) months last summer. Fast smooth ride. I bought this pair because my wife is deaf and I didn’t want to have to worry about her trying to use a choke so the fuel injection was the ticket. The Ski was supposed to have auto protection on all systems. That is not true. The exhaust system has plastic parts and a “10 mm” hole that the water is supposed to go through to cool the noise dampening system. When this gets clogged by any small and I mean small piece of any thing a rear plastic baffle melts down no engine warning no auto shutdown, smoke billowing out of the seat and front. All I could think of is fire is not far away. (14 gal of gas onboard.) and my wife sitting on top of it. Kawasaki position is that this is not a warrantee part. So all of the automatic safety stuff is not worth what you have to pay. I would not recom... Read more
