I arranged my wife’s birthday party at Katra. We had approx. 35 people invited for a private party. They did an amazing job. They helped us plan the entire event. Starting with menu, décor, food, drinks, service, staff, etc. it was all excellent. We could not have picked a better place. We did visit multiple places and liked Katra the best..initially we were a little scared since we had never been to Katra before but we were thrilled after the event. So far 3 people have already contacted us so that they can also arrange their events at katra.. We highly recommend it. And yes the most important thing at Katra is its owner, Chris. He is sooo helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating that we do not have words to explain. He took care of the entire event and did a fabulous job. Our only recommendation is that you should listen to him…he really knows how to host a fantastic event.

I have held a long list of great events at Katra. From Fundraisers to Parties they have all been great! What makes it great is the level of service I received from everyone from Chris the owner down to the wait staff.. If something wasnt right Chirs made sure it was. My last event was a 30th birthday party 2 weeks ago. Our waitress was extremely attentive and kept us happy. The door staff managed our guestlist effectively and efficiently. It was a great night! I would recommend Katra over and over again without fail. They have remained top notch consistently delivering the best experience!!!

Just threw a graduation party last sat and it was off da hook...from food to drinks...to music...my guest had a great time and so did I...The owner Chris was a great dude...gave my guest no trouble and made sure our server was doing her job which she did...she was great...overall great night of fun...would do it again...

I walked into Katra after 2AM for a friend's birthday party and the place was still pretty full. Unfortunately, the consequence of entering a packed place so late is that it guarantees that almost everyone will be drunk and have few social inhibitions. I was probably improperly groped/hit on by a half dozen men as I made my way to the private elevated area. Still, I had a good time and the crowd got less skeevy for the remained of the night. Drinks are pretty pricey, I believe it was $7 for a beer and $13 for a shot of Patron, (isnt every nice lounge/bar in NYC) but bartenders are quick to serve you and all the staff/bouncers I met were really personable. The back area is fairly nice if you can reserve it for a private party: lots of seating, tables, and Katra gives you one or two bouncers to close off any strangers. Last week we had our annual fundraiser at Katra. The atmosphere was perfect. I loved the gorgeous interior design of the place. The food & drinks were fabulous and our guests couldn't stop talk about the place. I highly recommend Katra a place to celebrate any occasion or to just stop by for a drink. Katra is definitely one of my top five favorite places in NYC!

I celebrated my graduation from grad school with other graduates and our friends. We had a great time, from the drinks to the food to the music....everyone had a blast. They were really really great, really took care of my girls and I. The owner Chris is a sweetheart and I when I left my jacket there, picked it up next day with no problem...and he even made sure to hand my camera off to my friend when I went home a little too happy to be celebrating. Overall everyone had a great time, especially myself. I had been there before for just a happy hour and it was nice, so now that we partied it up, I def plan to go back!

I recently hosted a Senior Champagne Toast at Katra for my medical school graduating class. The service was incredible. We bought souvenir champage flutes that the employees at Katra carried into the lounge and brought out for our toast. The toast was complimentary with the package we booked of 1 hour of passed hors d'oeurves for $15/person. The hors d'oeurves felt endless and they were delicious!!! We had the entire upstairs floor reserved for a 2 hour party and it was a very nice space. Only complaint was that the AC was blasting, so many of us were cold. I think Katra is a great and classy lounge to host a party of this nature with up to 150 people.

I had my boyfriend's surprise party here two weeks ago and it was the best experience ever. I read every review I could possibly find about a great place to throw a party in NYC and I ultimately decided on Katra for numerous reasons. First, the Manager Chris is AMAZING. I called him the Monday before the party and he helped me plan the surprise in such a way that my boyfriend had no idea that we were there for a party. Chris pretended to lose our reservation then asked my boyfriend a series of questions to distract him ("Is this your first date? Oh its your birthday! Thats great!, So you guys are just here for some drinks right?") all the while leading us over to our cabana located in front of the DJ booth. I really like Katra and I have been coming here for the last two years for various Birthday Parties. Chris the owner has always taken care of us and that was no different last Sat. My friends party was booked by some promoter who messed up everything for us. Chris to the rescue and he took control and worked out a table and a comp Champagne for birthday people. The music rocked! Never go to R Bar again but thanks Katra for doing right thing for us

I found this place on insiderpages for my birthday party. That was one of the best parties I had. Best restaurant in the area a++++

My sister and I planned our joined birthday party/ fund raiser at Katra and it was a great decision. Planning was easy, no need for annoying guest lists. From the moment we got there, the owner was incredible, providing us with our own section then moving us up to the VIP lounge where our guests could socialize without full body contact. From start to finish, we were taken well care of and the whole staff was very attentive to the needs of my sister and I, as well as our guests. Very cool vibe all around and would definitely recommend for any party/event/fund raiser you may have!

I went to Katra for the first time last night for my friend's birthday party. We had bottle service and was seated downstairs. I arrived a little after 12am and it was pretty packed already. We had a large group but our table only sat about 8 people. It was really crowded, but not to the point where we were packed like sardines. The DJ wasn't that great. He played Lady Gaga back to back, had poor transitions, random songs after one another (hip hop one second and then old school the next), played certain songs 3 times in a night, no remixing at all. Overall, didn't really enjoy the music. It kind of sobered me up because it wasn't that great. Although I didn't get to go to the upstairs area, I was told by my friends that the DJ was better than the one downstairs. Their martinis aren't bad, somewhat strong in fact. If you pay with card they include a 20% gratuity (not sure how common that is in NYC lounges/clubs). Wouldn't go back for the lounge, maybe the restaurant is worth giving... Read more

I have been here a few times and it is a very nice spot. The manager Chris is very attentive and tries to accommodate large parties. I love the look, and the food is very good (try the wings). I would definitely host a party here again!

This is one of our favorite restaurants in the Bowery. The food has consistantly been good and the servers are very attentive. The interior is a bit tight at times, mainly because it is so popular and filled with lively customers. There's a nice relaxed vibe and the prices are right. The drinks are good, too.

Great foods and fairly cheap prices for good dishes compared to other restaurants (especially for a bowery place). I would not solely rely on Katra as a traditional Morracan restaurant though as they do not serve traditional morracan food, but if you just want to have somereally good food, then this place is really worth it. Don't go alone as you will not have as much fun as you were with few friends. They have great selections of wines as well.

I've been to Katra 6 times,(and counting) and each time was tremendous. The service is impeccable, they couldn't have hired a better staff. The music is awesome,& the crowd is great. I promise you will enjoy yourself! Go and when you do, tell them Tiffany sent you! I'm hooked, so I might just be there also...lol

my husband recently threw my surprise 40th at katra. the night started when we arrived at the door and were greeted by chris, the owner, who very convincingly asked for id and distracted me on my way to the party room. after my shock, i looked around the room and was amazed by how beautiful the space was. the Moroccan decor, the lighting, the ceiling was flooded with tons of balloons...amazing. then the food started, and never seemed to stop. it was perfect, flavorful but not overwhelming, bite size and easy to eat with drinks. guests loved it. drinks were top of the line and service was unusually fast and friendly. the 4 hours seemed to pass in an instant. our dj left and katra's dj seamlessly transitioned without our guests even noticing. everyone left telling us what a great night they had and how amazing katra was. chris was just amazing. he made sure we were happy all night and even called the next day. not too often you get that personalized attention in the city. h... Hey everyone! my friends and i went to Katra this past weekend and had an amazing time! The vibe was friendly and the DJ was awsome...when we ordered our drinks they came quick, fast, and in a hurry. This is def a place i would reccomend to others! So GO HAVE FUN...LIVE...LOVE...LIFE!

So i think that i have been to like all of the places that these guys own, maybe im a groupie! lol No but 4real i really like the service that i have recieved at all of the venues. Aside from the service her the wings and the chicken skewers were quite tastey. Oh and my friend tried hookah for the first time here so i think that this is our new fave spot! lol

I recently went to Katra for my birthday, had a great time. There was no trouble at the door even for my friends who came in late, we were given a great table that was the right size for my party and the people who showed up later. The next day I had a question about the bill and called Katra expecting to get the voice mail. Instead I was immediately put in contact with the GM Chris, who answered all my questions and also emailed me copies of my receipt. I've never had such helpful and efficient customer service from a nightclub before, and would highly recommend them.

I planned a bday party there and OMG did I make an awful mistake. When my guests and I showed up, the place was a big surprise, there was a lot of not-so-classy people and it just got worst as the night continues. I had been there before and it use to have soo much class, people well dressed and all, I've talked to lawyers and working professionals. (Not sure what happened since then?!) I was utterly embarrased to have picked it for my party and had to apologize for picking such a venue afterwards! Worst yet, it was a bday I definately did not want to remember or bring up.

Had my Birthday Party at Katra on Dec. 12/'09. Thanks to Chris the owner and an amazing and friendly staff, it was one of the best Birthdays I've ever had! The staff is attentive and professional and Chris does a very good job of making you feel welcome and appreciated. I've frequented Katra often and I keep returning because I feel at home and relaxed when I'm there and there's always a fun time to be had. I highly recommend Katra to anyone who wants to have any kind of party or event in a relaxed and fun atmosphere where everything you need is taken care of and you're guaranteed to have a great time. Had a party here in their downstairs lounge and had a great time. We were able to have some musicians play a live set and the sound was great. Room to dance or just chill on one of the sofas- it was a success and we're anxious to do it again soon. special thanks to the manager chris for helping us put it together.

I host my 32 Birthday Party at Katra, I had a blast. Derrick the corridinator was real helpful with the planning. All my guest got inside without a problem. Katra is a must if you want to party hard on a saturday.

I had a 30th Birthday party for my sister over the weekend in the VIP area. From the time we arrived the staff was very helpful and attentive from Chris the Manager to our waitress Jen, the busboys, bouncer, and our event planner Nikki. My sister had a blast, the food was great, and all of my guests had no problem getting in. I have had several parties at different clubs around the city and this is one of the rare times that there were no problems or drama. I will definitely have a party here again!!

We had our annual halloween party at Katra and it was amazing! There were several other party happening that night in the club and I was concerned at first that we wouldn't all work well together, but I was completely wrong. The crowd was fun and friendly and looking to enjoy the night! The staff was so nice and not rude at all like most bars. They got us our drinks fast and the dj played all the right music! It was a great halloween!

I had my Halloween party at Katra last night for the second time. Chris and his team are great, always take great care of my friends and me! The ambience is perfect for a party! I will definitely be back next year for sure!

Ya know, you never believe any review until it's your own.. So I never had a birthday party for myself (believe it or not..) and it's was going to be my 30th so after some getting over myself I decided to have one. I had been to KATRA a few times before and it always struck me as a place I could bring any o...f my many friends to, so I decided on going with them. From the beginning, the Manager (Chris) was very direct and to the point (helpful when trying to organize your own party) and his staff was on point with everything from the decor, the bottle service, the DJ (soooo crucial...), to my guests entering the club. I didn't get one complaint from my party (81+) , and the rest of the crowd there was just soooo much fun.. My money was well spent (trust me!!). KATRA will definitely be a mainstay in my Saturday Nights-to-come

I had my NYC Premiere of my film TRUTH UNSPOKEN there and I can not tell you great they worked with me. Chris the manager is AMAZING. Everyone Loved the drinks, the food, the DJ's are wonder and the whole vibe over all is Great! I would do another event at KATRA anytime. Katra is a great lounge/club/restaurant. The food was excellent and their crab cakes are to die for. The staff are very accomodating and friendly. Katra is organize and well run, from the bouncer at the door to the waitress and waiter. I attented Katra for the Truth Unspoken movie premier and they did everything in their power to keep their guest happy for ex.. There were so many people for the movie premier that they showed the movie upstairs and downstair just to make sure everyone got to see it. There is also a parking lot around the corner and you get a discount if you get your card stamped at the door.

When u see reviews for Katra u always think they are blown up or it’s the club doing it. But after our party here on Friday Night I have to agree they are pretty accurate . Doorstaff friendly, Manager Very Friendly and Very attentive. Waitstaff wonderful and polite, bartenders quick and prompt and music sick!!! Great venue even though gets a little packed for about an hour which like anywhere in NYC is common. Drinks are a bit pricey but if you are not paying cover then it balances out. As a whole a very good night besides the terrible weather so today I give Katra five stars. I will be back!!

So i did my birthday at Sin Sin on the 4th and had a great time. So we went back this wknd but all of their sections were sold out, so the GM told us to visit Katra....Great time and Great Party. We got a table here last night and to say we were taken care of is an understatement. We did a two Goose spec for $500 and then Chris the manger or owner (I am not sure) bought us another one! OMG i was like its because we are SUPER HOT chicas! lol all my friends got in no problem (even the guys didnt have to pay!!) and the music was sick. Beautiful crowd and a greta time! Now i have 2 fave places in the LES! YAY ME!

ive never been to a club where the bouncer at the door doesnt give you a hard time. that is until last night! i came in early with a friend so we had no issues getting in even though there was a list. at around 11:30 i asked the girl at the door if it would be ok for 10 of my friends to join us even though we had no list. she said that she would ask the manager and would see if we had room to create me a guest list so my friends could get in for free. 2 minutes later i was speaking with the manager, chris, and he totally took care of us! we had a blast drinking downstairs at the bar and dancing to the great music the DJ was playing. i'm definitely coming back here!

i helped my best friend plan his birthday party at taj this saturday and "due to building issues" we had to move our party. the reservationist called us and told us that their capacity was 75 people!! we thought we were screwed but then she offered to send us to their other club katra. she offered us a free table and a free bottle of champagne for all of our troubles and we also got to invite more people. she was really nice and made us feel like everything was going to be alright. my best friend had the BEST time ever and is probably nursing a nasty hangover right now. they really took care of us and made sure everything was perfect. even though we had originally planned to go to taj everything worked out in the end and we had a great night.

Decided to have my girlfriend'a birthday party here Friday night. It was my first time at Katra and could not have asked for a better experience. The staff and the manager, in particular, were the best of hosts. Got a table and a couple bottles, which I highly recommend. Our table was never short on glasses, napkins, mixers, etc. The appetizers were delicious, in particular the little lamb kabob things. Atmosphere was fun and unpretencious. I also recommend a table if you have a large party so you have a nice ittle piece of real estate for your friends to enjoy. Music may vary night to night, but the mix of old school hiphop, top 40 and 80's was just the ticket and a nice change from the "unce unce unce" you hear at some lounges or big room clubs. I highly recommend it to anyone, espcially for parties. The staff treats you like you're crew. Thanks.

I went to a semi private party here 2 weeks ago. The party was scheduled for 8pm. I was running a little late so I got there at 8:30pm. Come to find that I'm the very first one there. Even the hosts of the party had not made it there yet. The owner, Chris, then said to me, "Don't you know women by now? You know they want you to wait!" He then bought me a drink on the house and the night was all set. Our group got the Moroccan fries, which were really really good. Maybe I was just starving or whatever, but they were really good. We also got chicken, if I remember, which was also really good. Chris was really accommodating, and he even joined our party for a few minutes at a time. And whenever we needed something, he was like "johnny on the spot." If you needed a place to sit, he would get a chair from the closet. If you had a cigarette, he had a lighter. If you coughed, he had a lozenge. You can't ask much more from an owner. We will def make it back the next time we are in town!!

Let me just start by saying, my husband and I had the wedding of our dreams at Katra! I'de also like to mention, none of the guests have stopped talking about how great the night was. Chris, the manager, was a godsend! He absolutely would not allow me to lose my mind, which brides-to-be often do or so I've been told :) Because we were planning our wedding from Floida, I was concerned about the details. The evening was incredible, I had nothing to worry about! The dj was super cool and the belly dancers were fantastic! The food was really good and the staff was so friendly. The place was beautiful when we walked in. We cannot say enough good things about Chris, his staff, Katra! We love it! PS- Can we rate higher than 5 stars?

Katra is the hottest spot in Downtown NYC. It is absolutely gorgeous inside and the staff is fantastic. Their service is A+ and everyone is treated like a VIP. If you want a real NYC lounge to host your next party or you want an intimate spot to take a date or go with friends, than Katra is for you. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere is phenominal and the location keeps it real. Katra is one of the few jewels left in New York. You will not be sorry you went there!

We threw a charity event here last week in their downstairs room and with Chris' (the manager) help, it was a complete success. The atmosphere, candles, furniture, everything make for the perfect classy setting. The food isn't half bad either, especially the spiced beef patties. I even left my jacket there the night of the event and Chris called me to tell me something had been found. I def recommend this place for an event!

Getting on the list was super easy - just called up and didn't have to pay cover ;-) Best music I have heard in a long time --- it's like the DJ knew exactly what song I wanted to hear next! Seriously, I thought he couldn't get better and each time he did! The drinks were great... the crowd was awesome too --- the dancing was great; beautiful people everywhere... it was the best night on Saturday...

Just celebrated my 26th birthday at Katra. Cannot say enough good things. I spoke with Chris, the owner, a few days prior to the party. He answered all of my questions, told me about all of my options. Our waitress, Chelsa, was AMAZING! If you can request her, do! She was sooo accommodating, patient, and sweet. I wasn't sure if they would allow me to bring a cake, but Chris was completely welcoming to it, without a charge!!!! Usually places in NY charge you a plating fee. They didn't plate the cake, but they did bring it out with candles, and provided all the silverware. It was perfect -exactly what I wanted. After 11 the place turns into a lounge/club, and it was definitely happening and packed by 12. Sooo, soooo much fun. Have your party here, it'll be a night to remember!

I've been throwing a huge birthday party every year for the past four years and, simply, Katra has done the best job of ensuring I had the best time. From the day I booked, I was thoroughly impressed by the level of communication between the events coordinator and myself. They crossed every "T" and dotted every "I", and this allowed me to just worry about getting to the lounge and partying when the night came. At the door, the owner Chris, personally greeted us and wished us well before we were escorted to our tables, and told us if we had any problems we could come see him personally. There were absolutely NO problems as the hostess ensured we were having fun and anything we needed she provided. Not only was the party package set at a great price, but they delivered on everything they said they would before the party. I have been going to KATRA every week since they opened 3 years ago, but this past Saturday was the first time I ever had my birthday party there. It was a few of my family members and some close friendsand from start to finish everything was perfect. The food was superb, the drinks were great, and the music and atmosphere was second to none. My family and I want to thank Chris the owner for taking care of us, we can't wait to do it again.

I had the best time at Katra! The atmosphere, music, and open bar were amazing. Also, the owner is so personable and nice, he got me and my friends a table in the bar without asking! Definitely have your 21st birthday at Katra!
