In Short Interiors boast sleek, modern design, with an eye toward mixing traditional decor with more trendy elements like track lighting and exposed brick. All branches are located near major shopping areas such as Old Town Pasadena, Cerritos South Street and in the Howard Hughes Center. The menu features entrees such as tempura, teriyaki, hibachi plates; noodle dishes like udon and soba; and a full range of sushi. Full bar available along with sake, wine and beer.

Kabuki restaurants are great places to get dinner with friends or family. Their delicious dishes can compare to any high-priced sushi restaurant in Los Angeles. Pro: the edamame are free. Con: they boil their edamame too long, so they have a pea-like consistency.

I dont like the valet parking so i just park on the street behind the restaurant. Its too bad that they dont take reservations on weekends, but if you've ever been there at night during the weekend, you will understand why. It gets reaallly crowded, the amount of people on the waiting list is crazy! I just went today, it seems like their doing a mini remodeling. It's going to look great. For a great experience, i always try to go when it isn't too busy, great for a cheap and quick lunch when you're having a sushi craving; again, expect to wait during weekends. Its not too bad though. The regular sushi and rolls can be small sometimes, but great variety and taste, i recommend Mu Sake =). Service has been great for the most part, they have a new manager. When it's busy, its understandable. After all the servers have to wait for the kitchen and chefs. It's modern, casual, and intimate. Not exactly the most romantic place but, depends on the person. Large selection of drinks, ne... Read more

I think the owners need to hire more waiters/waitresses; the hostesses are also very rude. In the restaurant's defense, the spider roll is very good, but unfortunately, that's the only good thing I can say that's good about this place.

The quality of the food and services has increasingly declined with each of my last few visits. First we waited 45 minutes to receive the first order of sushi. Then when sushi began to arrive the quality was very poor. For example, the Mackerel was dry and the meat in the salmon-skin roll was barely present very hard. Kabuki is officially off my list of Sushi restaurants.

Great location to eat if you are only interested in the pirce of your dinner. The half off sushi is half the size and taste. As for service, there is none. Expect to wait a long time for whatever you need. Also, don't go late. They are not open as late as they say they are. The closing time on the door and the large open sign are justed used as decorartion. They stop serving food long before their closing time.

This was the worst dining experience I ever had. The service was horrible! We were celebrating a friend's birthday so we told our waiter to sing a birthday song for him. We waited for 10-20 minutes, no one came. So we told another waiter about it and waited for another 10-20 minutes, still no one came. After looking all over for our waiter, we finally stopped him and asked for the third time. We waited again with no result. We thought maybe because they were busy and that's why they didn't do the birthday song. We were about to leave, until we heard a few of the waiters singing for another table! So we tried one last time, but of course, they never came by our table. This was the worst service I ever had. It totally ruined the birthday mood. We will definitely never come here again.

The sushi is not bad, but only worth it if you can take advantage of the half price special. For some reason though there is always a wait which is good since it lets you get used to the fishy smell before you sit down to eat. The service is spotty at best. The new Old Town location is much better.

Went on a saturday night with a group and were seated within 20 minutes. Their 1/2 price sushi is a pretty great deal, with lots of sushi for $2.50-4. The only catch is that each person has to order at least 3 rolls. That's not a problem when you're hungry but one person in our group just wanted to try 1 or 2 pieces so our waitress didn't count him for the final order. Midway through the meal, she came up to our table and said we HAD to order 3 more rolls because she saw him eating more than 1 or 2. He was just trying a few, but she wouldn't let that go. The quality of the fish is not excellent, but just average. However, one thing, stay away from the crab and vege roll!!! It smells like the bottom of the sea...not a good thing...

The appetizer and main dish were brought to the table at the same time. Later when I told the waiter that an appetizer should come first he said it was almost impossible to do because the employees were new and there were over 70 working there. The calamari eggplant appetizer was swimming in oil and because I ate the appetizer first, the shrimp and vegetable tempura were somewhat cold when I got to it. The shrimp tempura was also soggy and the batter too heavy. They do give you four shrimp, which is two more than other Japanese restaurants. Unfortunately it is just a lot of heavy batter. If you want to fill up on big portions and are not discriminating, then eat here.

In several visits to Kabuki, it's been mostly lower than my expectations. Last time, the toro hand roll was cheap, but the fish was chopped, still frozen, and the seaweed was no longer crispy. It does have a larger than usual half price selection. Choose carefully.

Sushi..ok. People who went crazy and went overboard about how good their sushi are the people who haven't been around much eating sushi. Very rude service. After spending over $200+ and paying them over 20% tip, the hostess asked us to leave. Right after I signed my check. I was so upset. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT RESTAURANT. I DON'T RECOMMEND ANYONE GOING THERE EIHTER. There are plenty of sushi places w/ better suxhi and better service.

Had dinner there one night with a bunch of friends, it was alright...not too crazy about the fishy smell (not that fresh?) We all had various types of sushi and some teriyaki chicken and beef. Overall, it's o.k., I couldn't say it's bad because it's not. But if you want sushi...well, I take this very seriously, read my rating about "Noshi Sushi" in L.A.!

I've been looking for good Japanese food for some time now and I finally found one. Don't let their half price fool you. Their food is a lot better than other over-priced, over-rated Japanese places. I go their at least 3,4 times a week. I can't stop craving for their fresh fish and especially their chilean seabass.

Yep, the price is OK, but the service is lousy. It's a Korean-run sushi restaurant, so they are not speaking to you in Japanese, for those that sit at the bar. If you are into cheapness, there is another one just like this about a mile south on Colorado, it's cheaper, same type of atmosphere, called Gin Sushi. Definitely not a date place.

This is definately a Korean-based restaurant. So don't expect to be enlighted by Japanese culture and customs. The food is average. Since they offer a 50% discount (with 3 or more orders per person), they try to fill you up on rice. The sushi and rolls are decent for the discounted price. Nothing fancy or fresh! But it's a good atmosphere to bring your coworkers or classmates for a casual gathering. And the Korean waitresses are not as mean or as abrupt as the ones in K-town.

i love Kabuki! the atmosphere is very modern, the chefs yell hello is japanese, there's barely any wait time, the place is always crowed, they sing to you on your birthday, you can eat with that special someone and the check will be $35 bucks at the most, the sushi has more meat/fish than rice, and most of all:IT'S 50% OFF HALF THE MENU OF SUSHI!!! can't beat that!

I've been here multiple times; tried to give it a chance. It's very, very slow service and takes a long time to get your food. Too much vinegar in the sushi rice. Fish is mediocre, not very fresh. They were also running a "Half-Off" gimmick, but rather than honoring it, they forced us to order so many pieces of sushi that it turned out to be more expensive than going to a regular, full-priced dinner at other places. It's definitely not worth the long wait. This is not real Japanese sushi, it's Korean sushi, but that's not the main point: It was just not very fresh, service was bad, and it's just overrated.

The affordability and atmosphere is inviting, but the organization and staff are untrained and not professional. I do expect top notch 4 Star Service from a Sushi Bar, but when you order an appetizer, wait 20 min. then recieve all orders at the same time, with barely room to move on your table...that is messed up!! Just pure common sense, lets eat appetizers and then have the dinners in order, is that too much to ask. I always get this at Japanese Restaraunts, so maybe there culture does not understand the concept of appetizers being an "Appetizer"....Entree served at a later time, but I guess I expect too much. Anyway, prices are well worth it, just don't overdo it, cause meals are enormous....unless your an avid buffet goer...voracious appetite, then go for it...ENJOY! Oh yes, beware of some Sushi Roll are not Half-Price, study the menu.

My party & I have had to walk out of there twice for bad service. The waitresses couldn't be slower if they tried. Their manners seem to be lacking, also. Because of the great PR about the sushi, we have eaten there - only to find that the sushi was mediocre. There are far too many good sushi restaurants in Pasadena to waste your time and money here.

I haven't been to kabuki for a long time. Because I didn't like the service. But last time I was there everything's changed a lot. They remodeled. It looks much more bright and modern. Also one of their waiter was attentive and nice. My friend and I really enjoyed fresh sushi. Even better they still keep their 1/2 price sushi!

The service and food have deteriorated from what has gotten it acclaim. The waitress are rude and unattentive. The fish is not fresh, leaving the sushi very disappointing. Each time I decide I get reeled in because of the moderate price, I leave sorely disappointed and frustrated by the service.

First time there for lunch w/ several other friends. Frankly, I dont care about the services, but the waitress could try a little bit harder to be at least a little more cordial. I serious don't get it why ppl give it good review. Did they just change their chef? The foods aren't really good at all. They don't even cut the rolls right!!! I guess this place is for ppl who had never taste authentic japanese foods.
