One of my favorite movies of all time, the movie that really but cgi in the mainstream. But its not really all about what the dinos look like the story is great and you get a little bit of everything in this movie comedy, suspense, horror, action, the movie has it all covered. The actor casting in this movie to me was perfect i wouldnt replace anyone.

I love Jurassic Park. I think the characters were witty and the dinosaurs actually looked real. The story was managed well and it was a very action packed movie.

"Jurassic Pork" I'm sure it wasn't intended as a 'pedo porn', but there are a lot of kids in danger in this one. Most pedos prefer E.T. (ouch!) and Goonies, though.

Jurassic Park by Stiven Spielberg is the first SCI-FI with really wonderful quality. I liked first and second series. It was exciting when we watched Jurassic Park, it was real and great. I put Jurassic Park to the second best movie, after The Godfather trilogy.

great film. the only thing i don't get is this: if you have a potental for a big monster escaping, why do you have shotguns and rifles? that that will do any good. It would make more sense if the people on the island has nerve gas or chorine gas weapons instead.

Jurassic Park is one of my favorite movies. There aren't a lot of movies that I can re-watch on a fairly regular basis, but this is one of them. As far as movies based on books go, Jurassic Park was about as loyal to the book as they get. Of course there were a few cases where it deviates from the book (the boy was older than the girl in the book, the movie left out the the compys, and Hammond died in the book), but it really was pretty true to the book in general. For being over 15 years old (yeah, it came out in 1993, hard to believe it's that old), the special effects still look pretty good.

Wavered from the book quite a bit but still a good job making the dinosaurs look real

Likely inspired by the successful cloning of animals, Spielberg came up with this interesting story of a very possible scenario. Theoretically, genetic engineering has the tools today to re-create species of animals that are extinct. The possibilities are enormous, and Spielberg did explore and exploited the theme. Great directing, photography and editing, and superb special effects of living, breathing (and feeding) dinosaurs. Good enough to milk a many millions from several sequels.

Best dinosaur movie to date. Best of the J.P. movies. A little slow to start, once it gets rolling it is intense. I don't think it portrays the kids as being superior to the adults in this movie, they all have to work together to survive. Someday someone will revive these animals from ancient dna and we will become dino-chow!

Anyone who didn't give this movie 5 stars should be ashamed of themselves. It's one of the best movies I've ever seen because it's so fun. It's all about fun. The special effects are out of this world. And the movie actually scared me a little in a couple parts, which is shocking, because movies hardly ever scare me. The musical score is great, the acting good enough. The dinosaurs are the real stars in this one. You really believe you're looking at real dinosaurs when you see them. Awesome.

Like most Steven Spielberg movies, this is great the first time you see it, on the big screen. Watching it the second time, on video, you notice the third-rate acting by the major characters, the silly/stupid dialogue ('hold on to your buts'), the contrived plot; and most of all, how fake the CGI monsters look when your perception adjusts to them. Also, as in every Spielberg movie, the adults in JP are all clueless dolts while the children are nicer, more intelligent, and oddly imperivous to physical harm. The best thing about Jurassic Park, IMO, was the use of talented character actors in the less important parts, most notably 'Newman from Seinfeld' as the computer nerd who lets the dinasaurs loose. Not a bad movie, but not a great one, unless you're a kid (the same can be said of most Spielberg movies).

I literally could not put the book down and read it straight through. It's the only book that really scared the crap out of me while reading it. Was really looking forward to seeing the movie and managed to get tickets to an advance screening. Was not disappointed. Even though the book was better, the movie was able to convey the essence of the book. Spielberg did an excellent job.

I love the Jurassic Park movies! I just really enjoy the superb action, the wonderful effects, and the beautiful music that goes along with it. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely for me! I can't wait until the fourth movie comes out. It was suppsed to be out already, but they haven't started filming, they don't know who the director will be, and they don't even know the storyline yet! Well, anyways the new date for #4 is supposedly Summer, 2006 in case you want to know. Go Jurassic Park! :)

This movie had a very interesting story line and it was interesting seeing those dinosours. But it has a very strong evolution as fact message which I don't condone, plus it made me feel depressed.

An awsome movie with a great cast and out standing effects not to mention the wonderful score. This movie took CG into the 21st century.

This movie holds title of Greatest Special Effects Achievement in my book. Lord of the Rings can't live up to this one. Considering the time period it was made, this movie blew away just about everyone. The plot was good but not too overdone, which made it easy to focus on the great characters, humor, and action taking place on screen instead of pondering about the storyline. It's every kid (and every adult who never grew up)'s dream to see a movie with real-life looking dinosaurs. Astounding film making here. This is a movie I will watch countless times.

At the time this movie was made, CG image programs like Maya were just coming out, which made the realism possible. The story line was interesting and the direction was great. This movie pioneered other movies with animated animals and scenery. Spielbergh broke ground and proved it could be done. 5 stars!

When I was a kid in the 60s, dinosaurs rocked my world. Alas, any movie depiction of dinos back then were so cheesy that even I as an 8-year-old thought to myself, LAMOSAURUS. I read Crichton's book before there was any talk of a film adaptation and liked it. I saw they film when it first debuted and was thoroughly impressed, no, amazed at the Dinosaurs. They were the star of the movie. The Tyrannosaurus that ate the selfish lawyer while he sat on the crapper should have won best actor award. Best supporting actor should have went to the Dilophosaurus that did Newman in (I bet Seinfeld wishes he was a Dilophosaurus). The human cast was OK. Laura Dern looked particularly great in shorts. Spielberg did a magnificaent adaptation and for a couple of hours, convinced me that dinosaurs were alive. Sequels are worth seeing but don't match up to JP.

This film formed the major part of my Childhood. Sadly the following films lacked something in my opinion. So many great things in my childhood are based around this film. The acting, the special effects, at the time it was like nothing else.

This is a good movie, despite the lapses in developing the characters, which is obvoious throughout the film, as well the departure of some characters that shouldnt have departed (ie. the late Bob Peck as Robert Muldoon). Since everybody and their mother has seen this movie, I will go on to give a review. I would like to have seen more of Doctor Wu, because he played a very important role, as the scientist who single-handedly created dinosaur's from fossilized mosquitos (truth is, science has proven this could NEVER happen, but its fiction). Dennis Nedry (played by Wayne Knight) is the bad guy, trying to cash in on John Hammond and Co. research, by getting dino DNA to a rival company. In the process, he proceeds to shut down all of the electric fencing systems in the park (with the exception of the velociraptor pen), which creates chaos throughout the park. He gets his last dessert via the dilophosaurus (no, dilophosauruses can NOT spit venom). In the process, the power is shut off at ... Read more

one of my favorites, although the book was better. but in hindsight, the novels are always better than the movies. if they made the movie exactly like the novel they would be 10 hours long.

This is a great movie. I love it. the sets for this movie look so empressive along with the CGI. and the idea of Cloning dinosaurs isn't to far fetched. this movie is truly one of the greatest spielberg movies of all time. It is exciting throughout the whole movie and you are captovatide the whole way threw. If you havn't seen this movie, it is a definate must see. It is truley a great movie.

This was a pretty good thrill ride, and the dinosaurs certainly did look real. There's not much meat to the story, but I guess that was beside the point. Anyway, I hated the ending. They just got in the helicopter and left all the dinosaurs on the island. When part two came out, the publicity ads actually had the audacity to say "they left something behind". Like THAT was a big surprise to anyone who had seen the first one. DUH!

When I was a kid, this was the best movie ever made. Now that I'm older, and familiar with the original novel by the gifted and talented Michael Crichton, I see that the film wasn't quite as good as it could have been. Still, it shows us what we want to see. Aside from the dinosaurs, which were probably the best CGI animals created until "Attack of the Clones", the cast was perfectly casted. Everyone was in good form, I just wish we could have seen more of Dr. Wu, and the late Bob Peck as Game Warden, Robert Muldoon. The cinematography was excellent, the settings were perfect for the plot, and John Williams once again produced a brilliant soundtrack that holds the movie together as a whole. Don't bother with the sequels, this is the definitive modern dinosaur movie.

well, it didn't delve quite as deep into the reprecussions of toying with God's plans as the book did. it didn't delve very deep into the development of characters or even a thrilling plot. it did, however, come quite close to manifesting the desire to toy with God's plans, by delivering exactly what it wanted to, huge, awesome, natural-looking dinosaurs. i've found it hard to begrude their inadvertent ushering-in of the Great Eye-Candy Era we live in today.
