the worst thing this guy had going for him is he's not his dad. Julian wrote pleasant enough pop songs in the 1980's and has continued to cultivate his craft since then, albeit out of the judgmental american consumerist eye.

Sorry, he is just OK. He has a good voice-and that's because he sounds just like his dad. But he doesn't seem to have John's depth. Julian had some hits back in the early 80s and they were pretty mediocre. I don't know if he has made any records since then. If so, maybe they were better.

Neither of the Lennon boys picked up much of their father's talent.

I don't know if he's a good musician or not, but he will always be just remembered as the son that John Lennon really never got to know and I feel sorry for him, to have John spend so much time with Sean, but not Julian.

Liked him in the 80's but not too familiar with his stuff today. Still the guy has talent, but I think he'll always be in his father's shadow.

I dunno...I'm afraid (sorry John)....he was riding on John's very lucrative coattails. He wasn't really very musical now was he?

This guy has had no major hits whatsoever. He should not even be on the list. He definitely doesn't have his father's talent for music as far as I am concerned.

Why is he listed on Rate It All? He had, I think, 2 hits from the same album. What have you done for me lately?

Julian Lennon is one of the greatest artists of the twentieth century. He is definitely multi-talented. Not only does he cook, take photographs, etc in his spare time, he is a FABULOUS songwriter and wonderful musician. Julian is an asset to all music, not to mention a really nice person. Keep up the marvelous work Julian!

Julian Lennnon is a talented songwriter and performer who has had to struggle to make a name for himself because OTHER people can't get past who his father was. Those people are missing out. Even George Martin, who probably knew the Beatles better than anyone, recently said of Julian on 20/20, "Take him for what he is by himself. He’s very good by himself. Take away John Lennon, and he’d be greater." If you haven't already, try listening to the newest album, Photograph Smile, without any preconceived notions based on his past or his father -- you will be blown away.

I haven't respected Julian Lennon since his first pop video in the late 80's, in which a mysterious character that looked like John Lennon kept popping up. To me, it seemed like a shameless exploitation of his dad to boost his own professional career.

Julian is a deep-sea diver, whose exquisite vocal and musical renderings of deeply moving subjects on his first independent album, Photograph Smile, increase in depth and effect with each listening. If you love the beautiful and moody deeper waters, you will surely love this work. There are a few tunes, one an ode to past pop, that are sheer fun and performed in that lighthearted spirit as well. Photograph Smile is Julian’s first album from his new Indy label, MFAR, and it is a classic from first note to last. Co-produced with MFAR partner and music veteran, Bob Rose, the two have managed to present the majority of the work void of digital gimmickry or distraction, building it around Julian and his music in a powerful natural state. You can finally hear this man's amazing voice and emotional depth, at times obscured in the past by outside interference. They capture the God given genius of Julian’s voice and delivery and spotlight his talent as an accomplished songsmith for the human ... Read more
